    Thanks for sharing OP.
Do you know if this a small only or any size?

    • +7

Sorry, small only, updated. Means no monopoly tickets :(

      • +2

        That's a shame :(
Thanks for updating quickly, and still a decent deal!

      • Add on a hash brown?

  • +10

Petty sure Coles Express,7 11, and some bps all sell small coffee for a dollar. I'm not a connoisseur mind. Doesnt seem too great a deal to me.

    • -5

      Barista made at maccas

      • Do you find that the end result is better? Taste wise?

        • +5

No. It's the same crap as you'd get made by a similar machine at 7/11.

      • +5

… and the burgers are made by chefs :/

      • +2

        "Barista made" ahahaha.

It's made by a machine and then poured into a cup. They're as much a barista as I am a space pilot.

        • +23

Not sure why people leave these comments with no actual knowledge.

They use the same coffee machines that coffee shops use. The beans they use are OK (not great). It mostly comes down to the skill of the person using the machine. Personally, I’ve had some very good and some very bad coffees from McCafe.

          • @Devils Advocate: Using the same coffee machines as respected establishments does in no way make the 15yo worker making my coffee a barista.

            • +9

              @Tacooo: Yes it does.

A barista (/bəˈriːstə, -ˈrɪstə/; Italian: [baˈrista]; from the Italian for "bartender") is a person, usually a coffeehouse employee, who prepares and serves espresso-based coffee drinks.

            • @Tacooo: it is sad that there are still people judging the end result based on age.. tell that to your children one day.. I like this platform where people are sharing good deals around Australia. if you dont like the product, why bother clicking on it?

          • @Devils Advocate: i have had dishwater coffee mccafe

        • Permission to come on board Captain?

I find the HJ ones have the best foam content for a cappuccino. Maccas is the best tasting one probably and 7-11 is OK as well. I haven't tried the Caltex or Coles varieties.

        • It's made by a machine and then poured into a cup.

I much prefer it made by a dog and poured into a bone. GOOD BOY!

        • +2

          Yeah this is wildly inaccurate.

Although it means Macca's coffee can be even worse, because while 7/11's machine is consistently mediocre, a 15 year old with a couple of weeks experience on a professional coffee machine is usually not the best combo.

          • -1

@Nadder: Yet the coffee is actually somewhat decent if you take your snob coloured glasses off.

            • @Ghost47: Not at all. I said "can be". I've had good Macca's coffee and awful Macca's coffee. Same as I've had good boutique coffee and awful boutique coffee.

      • +2

The machines are the same as most cafes.

Grinding, tamping and extraction is automatic.

Issue is all the untrained school kids they put on the coffee machines to try and save money. Most of them wouldn’t know the difference between a flat white, cappuccino and macchiato.

        • +1

Sometimes if u pay attention to how some of them make the coffee, you'll see that they give no damn about how it should be made. One time I watched a younger employee leave the milk jug under the steam wand sitting on the machine unattended whilst they went to pack an order halfway across the kitchen. It was a fair while before they came back and that milk…

          • @thevietjesus: Somehow coffee machines for home can turn the steam off automatically at the right temperature but commercial ones can't.

            • +1

@spaceflight: commercial ones probably assume the operator knows what they're doing :p

      • I upvoted you.

That is the difference between 7-11 and maccas coffees - instead of a machine doing it all you have a person doing all the steps (not just pushing a button, but grinding, tamping and polishing, pulling the espresso, cleaning ect.) literally by definition they are a barista.

Doesn't matter if they're a 14 year old and they fck up your coffee it's still barista made coffee.

      Chiming in on cheap coffees.
I've found the best mocha is at Hungry Jack's ($2 medium) but for anything else go elsewhere.
EzyMart's $1 mocha is nice too

I've found the best froth is actually at 7/11, as for the best latte.

Haven't tried BP, but Coles Express is normally watery and tasteless.

Maccas coffee is good for $1, but I laugh at what they normally charge.

      • +1

the best mocha is $2 from caltex.
        go. try. it.

        (does not need extra sugar)

        • Honestly? Well if I'm ever near a Caltex I'll be sure to try!
They aren't the most convenient for me to get to however.

        • I have to agree with that wholeheartedly… Very delicious, but also very sweet, so def no more sugar required.

        • Why would anyone add sugar to mocha?

      • +1

        Very helpful!

      • I think Coles express has better foam than 7/11, and taste wise better also. I get 7/11 as it's usually a freebie in the 7/11 app and convenient. McD is average and only get it on promotion.

        • I used to get Coles Express coffee because it was previously just 80c, and the most convenient for me on my commute to work. But it really is watery, poor in taste, and inconsistent across stores. Stopped buying it, and it was just as bad as I remember when I tried one again recently.

7-11 is pretty consistent across stores and not a bad coffee. Don’t think I’ve ever had a bad one. I got one from a Woolworths servo recently and had to throw it out, it was that bad.

Maccas is just average, because as everyone is saying it can vary so much store to store, and even day to day. Not worth risking cafe prices for a gamble on what you’ll get.

          • @jwh: Coles Express coffer has improved a lot since it's launch. If I recall correctly, CE upgraded its coffee machines?.

            • @Zenith2k3: I tried it again about 3 months ago, and the machines were exactly the same as a couple of years prior. Only difference I noticed is the price had gone up to $1.

    • +1

Coles express is gross. I literally can’t stomach it - I feel sick after drinking a cup.
7-11 is good at $1, probably better than HJs though I think maccas still beats all those mentioned.

Remember to take your keepcups OzBargainers :)

    • -5

so you can feel like your making a difference.
big companies and governments love that. less attention on them.

      • -1

They do indeed love it when fools do pointless things like carrying around a cup, not using drinking straws and recycling, feeling like they're doing something when civilisation is going to end as soon as 2050 according to NASA.

Feedback loops are already out of control with no polar ice on either pole simultaneously predicted for 2024 and the tundras of Alaska and Siberia melting.

Meanwhile the moronic Australian population thinks it's a conspiracy theory because the media decieved them, yet again, by having debates between climate scientists and fossil fuel propagandists because no scientist would debate on the denial side. The Columbia School of Journalism recently described this as a "failure" as though they accidentally had paid propagandists on the news to advocate against scientists instead of outright deceiving the morons consuming it.

        • civilisation is going to end as soon as 2050 according to NASA.

Source? The latest IPCC reports don't support that, and the claim is far beyond everything I've heard and read from authoritative sources. Modelling under RCP 4.5 emission scenarios show ~1.4 degrees (+- 0.5) warming by 2050 - which is significant for our quality of life, but it's not "civilisation ending". Please don't provide blog links or Extinction Rebellion trash please.

Wow, I understand your username. Keep up the good fight, because we all know global warming is just a lie. /s

If you buy 5 small coffees thru the app for $1 each, can you redeem a large free coffee later

    • +2

You only get one $1 coffee.

  • +2

Does these $1 coffee counts towards the buy 5 free 1 coffee stamps on the app?

    • +3

No, because they won't accept 2 codes when placing the order. You need a code for the $1 and a separate code to have it count towards your 5 coffees.

      • +1

Hmm that’s too bad. Anyhow thanks!

  • Thank OP, Rich kids like me like free coffees.

  • I did the research for everyone else.

"Espresso (/ɛˈsprɛsoʊ/ is coffee of Italian origin, brewed by forcing a small amount of nearly boiling water under pressure (expressing) through finely ground coffee beans."

Sadly, no chai latte for International Coffee Day. Assuming the pre-promo people were given the real T&Cs.

I might just get a decaf mocha since they never have decaf and offer me hot chocolate anyway.

  • Good timing I’m having a CPA exam tmr

    • you need more than just one small coffee.

    • Coffee Professional of Australia?

  • I mostly drink long blacks, and I've had some genuinely good coffees from Macca's. I've also occasionally had coffee from The Big M that tastes like it was made by soaking dirty socks in used bathwater. But the sock coffee is the exception rather than the rule, and it seems to depend on the location. I'd happily spend a buck at my local McD's for a brew as it's usually pretty tasty.

  • Anybody managed to get $1 through check-out? It's still showing full price…

My early morning cheap caffeine needs are now gone - thanks to the disappointing app experience :)

    • Can't find it either. Tried adding to cart as well.

      • +1

        Working now via rewards

  • Mine says expires tomorrow.

    • +1

If I remember correctly, they set the expiry until tomorrow 3am, so people in WA can use it up until midnight their time.

  • thanks sipping on my mocha now :)

  • before, it feels so sweet with $1 purchase but now, with the free deals popping around, it felt less sweet now.

    • +1

Agree. I had to add half a sachet of sugar to sweeten the deal.

  • +1

Free customisation btw (switch to soy milk for $0)
