Credit Card Points for Bills

I have a Westpac Attitude card. According to their website, it says Australian Taxation Office payments do not attract points (https://www.westpac.com.au/personal-banking/credit-cards/man…)?

What are ATO payments? Is that only when you pay the ATO cause you didn't pay enough tax during the year?

Or is it stuff like rates and land tax? Electricity bills? Utilities?

    What are ATO payments?

Literally what it says - payments made to the ATO.
This could include tax return debts or PAYG payments, for examine.

The ATO is not responsible for land tax, utilities, your internet, mobile phone bills or water.

Time to get yourself some zzzzzz 🛌😴

  • Many cards consider gov spend to be ineligible, and this may include land tax, rates and even parking meters. Some cards also do not pay on bpay payments and many pay their utilities, for example, that way. There are many reports of the cards not enforcing this and paying points anyway. I pay by direct debit to an Amex card where the full points are earned and to a citi or QF Premium visa otherwise.
