I tried to buy one of these at an Australia Post (corporate) shop, but the only model they had was an "Elite" version.

(Otherwise the same wording on the box, but "Elite" was part of the product name… Unit was similar in shape, but slightly different at the centre, darker maybe… from memory)

Is that the faster replacement model? Anybody know it?

I tried to get them to mark it down for - from $120 - they wouldn't budge a dollar… :-(

Elite is the faster version - and is the main reason why the non Elite version is being discounted.
The elite model has a small display screen (to show some information such as current session usage). It probably also support USB tethering (using it as a USB modem) - not sure on this one.

It is very hard to get a discount on the Elite one. Only way is to wait for a store wide discount (e.g. 20% off - Harvey Norman), but even after the discount, it is still 2X more expensive.

        It doesn't support USB tethering.

Harvey Norman gave me one for $49.95 last weekend.

  • any way to unlock this so i could use it with other providers. eg if something similar to this comes up again.

  • Great find! thanks!

  • Got the last unit from Bentleigh. Expires 20th Sept 2013
She said they only had one for the entire day, but more is expected later

    • Will it still be 5Gb if we activate in Sept 2013? How can we be sure, there is no mention about any included data on the package?

    • Too late now, isn't it? The HN sale of MF30 finished already (Telstra was willing to compensate HN for selling MF60 at the same discounted price as MF30 due to stock limitation). Wish I knew this earlier.

Unless Telstra is willing to do the same for Australia Post this time. Somehow I don't think that's the case.

  • What's the cheapest Telstra USB modem with external antenna at the moment?

  • Well despite Aus Post call centre saying my local PO had no stock, I went there and they did have have one. So I bought it. :-)

  • Thanks Opps!

  • Brisbane Post Office Square has sold out.
Got one from the Post Office at 42 Albert Street (near the Botanical Gardens).
    Not sure how many left.

  • Wow these are cheaper then the data alone and with a longer expiry to boot. Just pre-ordered 4 of these from my local PO :)
I'll cut down the sim's to use in my iPad
Get the modems unlocked and sell them on ebay :)

  • not all the post office notice it on sale,i just get one from glen waverley post office this afternoon, $49 good bargain.

  • Got one from the PO at Mitcham Shopping Centre (SA) this afternoon.
    Nice deal!

  • I got two last night - DSE Cranbourne price matched.

For those in Melbourne Aussie Post told me there is stock showing on there computers at Fountain Gate and Keysborough. But i had no problem with the price match at DSE.

  • Got one from Waverley Gardens - no problems finding one..

  • Scored 2, ones on ebay and about to sell for $53… what is wrong with people? Oh well, not my fault they don't check the price of things.

  • Nearly every aus post in Brisbane CBD was sold out but just price matched at the DSE on elizabeth street.
