Nice deal! Does the 60 day expiry start the day it is purchased or you can activate it anytime?

  • +2

    Spread over 12 months: $200, $16.66/month and 10gb/month.
Not bad if compared to this which was $16.66 for 12.5gb/month.

Gotta ask your self though, now that the $300 is back in stock, is there a sale coming soon on it?

  • +3

Unlimited international calls to Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand, UK, USA and Vietnam.
    SMS not included.

    • Wow, no Taiwan?

      • +1

        Included in $50 extra credit

      • +2

        emmm… china?

    • +3

Wonder why it has different international destinations vs Boost

  • Do you still get SMS messages if travelling in southeast asia with Telstra?

    • Hmmmm

$50 Extra Credit for international calls and texts, roaming and premium SMS.

    • I'm wondering this to. From memory I think I was receiving texts in the Philippines in 2010.

    • Yes, if you've roaming on and Telstra offers roaming service in that country. You should be able to find out whether that's the case by checking the relevant roaming rates on Telstra's website (i.e. there won't be any rate for that country if there's no service).

      Incoming SMS is free.

Only for new customer? Or can existing Telstra customer can avail this offer

    • +1

Had a chat to telstra an they said its only for new numbers

      • So, can't port existing number from other providers?

        • +1

If you port out and back in, you're treated as a new customer.

          • @kwchaz: im not with telstra atm. freewilly said new numbers thats why i want to clarify, new number as if i cannot port in?

            • @CyberMurning: Hm, that's a fair point. It's never been a new number, they've always let you port over it. You'd have to contact them yourself to clarify that, but I highly doubt it as very few people would not already have a number they would want to keep.

  • Can I use this as a recharge? I have this prepaid on a phone but it's due to run out in a few weeks.

    • -3

      It says so in description..

      • No, it doesn't.

    • +1

i would like to know this as well. i am curently on telstra prepaid and would like to know if this would act as a $150 recharge? Thanks!

Think twice to buy from Telstra, Number porting is problem at the moment, i started my process on dt. 16.09.2019 and still they don't have reply. They wanted to convert my number to postpaid instead of prepaid and staff is not very helpful. Mine case is with TIO at the moment. It's kind of scam. You buy sim starter kit and they won't activate.

    • I had a nightmare. They told me they were upgrading their system, turns out you need to keep the old sim active with credit, or you don't receive a verification code to swap. Very frustrating. I eventually activated on voda. Sadly I get terrible reception on that. Yay…

      • The code is a new thing started since June-end or so. For me I needed to enter the code on website so I need not have credit (there is a period where even if your prepaid plan expires you can receive incoming sms and calls). With Kogan I had to reply to that sms which means i needed to have the credit!

        • +1

With kogan you can call the number mentioned in the xms and give them the code. Source i did it on last friday

          • @FiDad: Great info lokesh, this will help many people,…thanks

      • +4

The code is to protect you from sim porting attacks.

    • Same here. Started last week on Thursday and still not done. Customer service is useless and clueless this time.

    • +2

Ported out to Vodafone in 20mins, ported back in next day no problems

      • Yep, I ported out in under an hour yesterday but out of Telstra to Vodafone. I did have to txt a code to Voda though,

so luckily I ported on last day before expiry, which is a day earlier than I used to port over from any telco to minimize

wasted money lol. Did you port out of Telstra>Vodafone>Telstra,…. so two ports involving Telstra in twenty minutes, awesome :-)

      • How could you get the cheapest vodafone sim? Now the optus $2 sim is hard to use for port-out/port-in(Although it is free.
http://www.optus.com.au/shop/prepaid/sim-card/2-sim), because you have to choose a plan and charge it when activation(previously you can choose to charge later)! THX!

  • +1

Can a prepaid number get an esim?

  • +2

Can we buy now and activate after 2 months?

    • Of course, why not.

The sim pack/re-charge voucher should have an expiry date of at least 1 to 2 years but to be safe activate within one year after reading comments re changes in policy possibly affecting Boost/Vodafone and maybe in future even Telstra.

  • Apple Watch support on these pre paid plans?

    • +1

      No.

Telstra One Number (the eSim extension plan for cellular smartwatches such as the Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch) requires a Postpaid plan.

"Telstra One Number is available to all customers on a Telstra mobile plan. Telstra pre-paid customers are not eligible."
      https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/one-number

It's annoying, but I don't think it's going to change.

  • When do we need to activate by? Thinking Feb next year.

    • +1

I got the 1year one from the other Telstra deal…those cards had long expiry date..don't remember the exact date but sometime mid next year…

    • Want to know too, switched to Boost from Telstra to save $ then saw this!!! can't activate until my current plan expires in end of Jan

      • If you have spare cash and feel this deal is as good as any between now and Jan 2020, then go for it :-)

  • Anyone having difficulty actually purchasing this? Mine has been stuck at 'Connecting you to braintree' for the last 5 mins

    • Me too. Not able to order.

      • +1

I couldn't be bothered waiting for it so just used the Paypal option. Ordered 2 SIM's.

        • I'm using paypal, and it's taking forever to process, doesn't seem to be going through.

  • Beware of relying on having your accumulated Telstra Prepaid Data Bank stay around:

I've just received a Telstra SMS saying that my Data Bank would expire in 4 days. This is even though my credit doesn't expire until Jun 2020.

There's nowhere that this "invisible" expiry date is indicated. Dialing #100# just reveals normal credit and monthly bonuses expiry dates.

Whirlpool suggests various ways of extending it 186 days (6 months), but nothing is confirmed and no one seems to know for sure. Each method requires spending more money, which is a bit irritating when you've already plowed a large amount in, like the cost of this SIM.

  • The data sim is $100 for 40GB and 12 month expiry.

    • Can you use it in a phone, or just a tablet/wi-fi thingy?

      • there is no such tablet/wifi-thingy/phone check, so you can use that in the 2nd SIM slot of your phone.
The only difference is you cannot make/receive voice calls using that SIM. Not sure about SMS

      • tablet or mobile broadband device.

  • I'm probably going to get this as my back-up SIM with new number, and porting my soon to be out of contract Telstra plan to Optus for a better deal.

  • can we buy 2 and join $300 for 150G plan?

    • +2

      TL;DR - NO.

Me: Looking to buy two of these.

Rep: This is for a sim that you will purchase online. It means that, the recharge is already included in the SIM. ANd yes, after 6 months, the recharge will be back at $150.

Rep: If you will purchase 2 SIM with $150 that is $100 as online promotion, you will get 2 SIM's with 2 different service number.

Rep: The online promotion is only only for the SIM that you will purchase online, however, the recharge will revert back, after 6 months

Me: within how many days should I activate the sim?
Once the SIM is onhand, you can check the expiry of the SIM. As long as t he SIM card is not yet expired you can activate the service anytime.

Me: so I won't know the expiry until I get the sim?

Rep: Yes, but you can leave a note when you purchase the SIM. That you want the expiry of 2020 or 2021.

      • answered my question up top. Thanks!

      • Normally the sim last for a year. So get 2, when your first one expiry, contact support to recharge by the sim. They will help you out on that.

  • What happens after 6 months? Can we renew again for the same price or are we at the mercy of normal telstra prices?

    • Only the SIM with its included credit/data is discounted.

Once on the plan, normal recharge rates apply.

  • Does anyone know if Vietnam is included in the unlimited 20 countries?

  • Anyone else having trouble with payment processing?

    • yep using paypal and stuck on "processing payment, please wait"

    • +1

Had that with credit card payment, so I switched over to PayPal which went through.

      • I had the same "Processing payment" thing this morning, don't really want to try credit card and get charged.
Paypal seems easier to deal with if something goes wrong..

        • Same here just now mine is attempting to pay via PayPal and also stuck for last 10 minutes :-(

Over 1800 clicks,….maybe they have sold out and not updated stock levels?

          • @ozhunter68: But my first tries were in the middle of the night not long after the deal was posted, left the phone on "processing payment, please wait." screen and went back to sleep.
I don't think it was sold out then..

            • @cola2002: So did you only try once, and after waking same transaction went through and all seems well with some form of confirmation.

Or did you cancel first attempt and try again?

              • @ozhunter68: I closed the browser and tried again. The first time I did get an error screen, saying Host Error, and something about gateway time-out.
All other times just stuck on that processing screen.
I also tried multiple times on work laptop during work, all no go..

I haven't had success with any yet.

                • @cola2002: same here.. How do I get around this issue? Struck at payment processing…

                  • @smiles: Just tried it again, and order went through!

                    • @cola2002: thanks mate - Yes, this time I used CC payment screen and not paypal screen and it went through

      • "quarrymaster"

Around what time did yours go through?

        • I replied a few minutes after my AMEX was charged via PayPal. Originally it took minutes with credit card not going anywhere, changed to PayPal went through right away.

          • @quarrymaster: Oh,…so around 1pm this afternoon then. Been trying for nearly two hours with PayPal and still now no go trying multiple times.

    • Have you managed to get the order placed?

  • Pity only online.

    • You don't have PayPal or credit card to use currently?

      • Going overseas day after tomorrow and not enough time.

  • +2

This is better than Boost as the speed is not capped as they want you to use up the data asap.

  • Being a prepaid deal, would they still give volte and wifi calling?

  • Those who port out and port back into Telstra. How do you get a super cheap carrier for 1-2 days? There has been mention of Vodaphone?

    • Try Amaysim. There is currently a $30 offer for $10, and with ShopBack and CashRewards $21 cash back - if you haven't claimed before.

    • Do you have to do that to keep the same number? If you are going from a Telstra sim to this one

      • Might need to port out then back in.

  • is their any better pre/post paid plans than this? (sim only)

  • +2

Says out of stock. Been trying to buy for the past 24 hours (stuck at payment page, even tried paypal without luck).

    • Same problem but they said they are doing system upgrade.

    • +1

The 12-month expiry $300 sim for $200 deal quickly became out of stock too.

    • I also missed out after trying with PayPal on Tuesday for a few hours before giving up :-(

  • Thanks. I've bought this and the Boost $135 deal for a 12 month and 6 months plans!

  • This item is back in stock, can we remove out of stock sticker?

    • Special seems over though, it’s $150 again
