      No

      • Thanks.

        • Did the code end up working? It isn't working for me.

  • +1

What's the battery life like on this?

    • +2

I have this model from the earlier sale. From a full charge, I'd estimate about 4-5 hours of continuous use (internet, videos, audio, microsoft officce stuff).

  • +3

it is a good all round option for many.

Lenovo equips these with a 300nit panels (great), but colour space coverage is only around 54% sRGB.

microSD card slot on a 15 incher is surprising as well.

also 45wh battery.. sure there's space inside for something with higher capacity.

still, at this price very good.

    • +1

Have you found any sub-$1000 laptops with better colour space and brightness or should I just resign myself to an external monitor for those tasks?

      • +1

recently my workflow changed a lot, so I don't get lots of various models pass through my hands, hence I cannot advise if there's a ready model out there that suits such needs.

you can always upgrade the panel in this Lenovo, it is rather easy to do. a 300nit plus or minus full sRGB coverage no PWM panel will set you back about $150 delivered. installing takes minutes.

use this link if you want a screen that fits this Lenovo. no idea why glossy sku costs more, matte is preferable for working with imagery. BTW this screen will fit into 95% of non-touch 15 inch mainstream laptops (fixation on left/right up/down slug, EDP 30 pin connector, 60Hz IPS).

      • another option would be to hunt for Dell Latitude 7290-7390-7490 on eBay. those are accordingly 12-13-14 inch, and often can be found brand new from private sellers just under $1000. top class business gear from Dell always carries the best panels in class.

just pm me first before venturing down that path, because business grade hardware market is very much different from this consumer grade retail manbro bukkake theater

  • Tempting to pull the trigger , I hope there will be similar deals around Xmas to claim TRS.

  • +3

I bought this one in the last deal. Pretty happy with it.
I bought a new 8GB RAM and a Samsung 1TB 2.5" SSD for it. They run smoothly.

  • Do any of the ryzen laptops support thunderbolt 2? Looking for a laptop that can support multiple, 2 or more monitors via one cable.

  • Was hesitating on e590 or e595
The deal helped me make the decision.
    Thanks,ta

    Bought one

What brand of extra ram should be used to it, or doesn't matter, as long as it is 8G?

Appreciate if someone can share good deal on the ram and see.

    FYI:

    • Thick bottom screen bezel
    • Ctrl and Fn key positions swapped around
    • Average screen and battery life

    Enjoy!

    • +2

      i'm sold

    • +1

Lenovo often have a BIOS option to swap the fn / ctrl keys, FWIW.

    • +2

-You barely notice the bezel in actual use. It aligns with the top of your hands/viewpoint. Bothered me at first but now I don't notice it at all.
-1 min fix in the BIOS
-my 6 month old laptop gets about 6 hours of battery (40% brightness, wifi)

Very good laptop for the price point.

    • +1

to be precise, brightness is above average (300nit is very decent), and color reproduction is, well, average (half of sRGB). for documents, browsing, and not too demanding media consumption more than enough.

  • Any other brands or similar laptop at this price range to choose from? Thanks.

    • I would say that at this price it's damn hard to find a competition that offers same quality.

    • +8

Entitled much? If you reckon the posts are BS, feel free to contribute your own deals.

    • +3

      @zlasuka GTFO man lol …

  • Can it take a 9mm HDD or only 7mm

    • -3

It can take a 9mm bullet to the cpu

  • The coupon code "TA-E495RC" is not working. Anyone else having trouble with this?

    • +4

      Maybe try TA-E595RC?

  • +1

TA, thanks. Any chance you can get us coupon code for T49x laptop?

  • +1

Its a bit heavy and has no keyboard backlit

    • +1

Agree. At this price really nice to include backlit keyboard and would be better if it weighed below 2Kg.

They try to get you to pay more for a higher range model in order to get a backlit keyboard, but at least for the

extra weight you will hopefully get a solidly build semi tough laptop, unless you get the fancy expensive models.

    • How does that WiFi adapter differ enough to warrant swapping it out?

      • +1

Should be a lot more reliable. Refer to threads from past deals some people complained about the low quality unreliable wifi adapter.

        • Oh, good to know (since I got the deal), thank you :)

          • +1

@ageotas: I wouldn't necessarily upgrade it unless you notice problems on your network. In any case Intel would be the most reliable if not the fastest.

  • How does this compared to the HP ProBook 645 G4
    https://www.umart.com.au/HP-ProBook-645-G4-14in-FHD-LED-Ryze…

    • +1

Looks like a reasonable deal. It's last generation Ryzen but has Windows 10 Pro instead of Home. Not sure how the screen compares but they're both FHD. I'd save $50 and go with Lenovo unless you really need the extra portability of 14"

      • +1

Thanks mate. I think the HP also has Intel's WiFi instead of the crappy RTL.

  • Will the E490 deal come soon?

  • Just got my tax return and was about to pull the trigger :(

  • mine just arrived.. great looking thing.
bit of weight but feels solid

    • got my one yesterday, really quick via DHL in 2 business days

half day hands-on experience: bit heavy (but it's 15.4"), screen looks good for me, encounter wifi laggin (connect to my phone as hotspot, reconnected it, can't really identify it was wifi adapter or mobile 4G network's problem, will see)

      overall, it's worth for $750 - 4% cashrewards

  • +3

Damn, out of stock. Any chance there will be more stock coming back in?
(out of stock before the deadline)

  • Since there’s nowhere else to request this without badgering, I’m going to use the most recent thinkpad deal thread. Anymore E490S bargains TA?
T490/T490s would be amazeballs, but E490s would be much appreciated too.

  • i have to say this is a shit lappy. clean install of win10 doesnt work acwifi wont work etc etc crap
