Can you buy the airpods WITHOUT the charging case? Why is it called out?

Like buy a car and you get 4 wheels!?

    • +7

To make it distinctive being wired charging case. There is wireless one, you know.

Edit: Be easy on OP, even though he didn’t say it.

      • +5

If it doesn’t say wireless we can safely assume it’s the normal charging case.

        • +2

Sure. Safe to assume and no denying that. But we should also look at the fact that this is first post by someone. So a suggestion (like your comment) rather than question wouldn’t hurt anything.

          • @PopCounty: I'm more confused by the listing title… Apple Airpods(Gen2) with Charging Case | with Wireless Charging Case | Case Only

Case Only ..? sounds like they got airpods with the case and are selling the case?

          • @PopCounty: Oh no I wasn't blaming the OP; the eBay title is confusing :)

    • It's so freaking confusing. There are two models:
      * Apple Airpods 2 with Charging Case
      * Apple Airpods 2 with Wireless Charging Case

It's like they are trying to be helpful by using descriptive names, but inadvertently just made it even worse than if they called them Apple Airpods 2 and Apple Airpods 2 Pro.

      • +11

What's more the non wireless one is sold by wireless one :-)

    • +15

Sorry all its my first post

      • +14

Don’t be. U posted a deal worth sharing. So take thanks instead :)

      • +5

No need to apologise. You’ve described the item the same was as apple.

    • It’s a weird they call it with charging case. Upvote for you.

      • Thanks bud, looks like no one else get it. It's not like I downvote the deal, just annoyed at how this product is presented by manufacturer.

  • How does warranty work for this versus say buying in store at Jb Hifi / officeworks?
Would the warranty for this only be one year (vs two years under Aus consumer law for Jb hifi / officeworks?)

    • +1

Wireless 1 is an Australian based company, ACL applies, if it breaks go to the apple store for the first year and then to the wireless one for the year after

      • Hm I've had a look online and the store seems to be based in Nsw- so could be a problem with regards to the warranty for the second year if im in Victoria (and thus might be worth paying 10 or 20 more dollars for a more local store)?

        Ps love the username haha

      • +1

eh apple covers ACL for 2 years not 1, best not post if you don't what you are talking about.

        • Umm what, the contractual obligation is with the reseller for the 2 years for ACL. Apple offers a 12 month limited warranty. ACL is seperate to that which spans 2 years (which overlaps with the first intial year).

I do know what i am talking about (i've gotten apple to give me a free $3.5k macbook for trying to screw me around with ACL), prove me otherwise. That for an item purchased from an authorized reseller, Apple will cover the second year of warranty UNDER ACL, WITHOUT the input of the said reseller.

          • @paraneoplastic: WRONG. nothing to do with re sellers, Apple covers ACL. Read up.
            https://www.apple.com/au/legal/statutory-warranty/

ps ACL with apple will cover you WHEREVER you buy the phone, even off gumtree if still in warranty. The warranty is linked to your serial no and apple id, NOT where you bought it from.

            • @[Deactivated]: Read the link you sent,

" Who to contact to make a claim
The seller " (under the ACL)

You're extremely stubborn aren't you? Stop bashing your keyboard and use your eyes and brain.

You clearly don't understand what ACL even is. ACL is legislature which covers the contract between the seller and the buyer. NOT the buyer and the manufacturer (except under certain conditions, which airpods don't fall under expressly)( https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees… )

              • -3

@paraneoplastic: yep you go through apple direct they will honour the ACL.

    • +1

Apple products have 2 year ACL cover where ever you buy from not just Apple.

My Gen 1 is working so well even with Android.

    • I had the Gen 1 and they were awesome.

The only reason I "upgraded" to gen 2 was because of that eBay deal/lottery where I was lucky enough to get them for $99, then I sold my gen 1's.

I don't really notice much of a difference at all between Gen 1 and 2 so I would say definitely stick with Gen 1 if you're happy!

      • Really? I upgraded to the gen 2 and the improvement in sound quality was definitely noticeable. I've also experienced way less interference in the CBD, was better/quicker to notice they'd been placed in my ears, etc.

That or I just had a dud set of gen 1's! lol

        • I honestly haven't noticed any difference. The sound quality was decent on the Gen 1's and same on Gen 2. I haven't done any advanced testing but that's the general impression I get.

Maybe your gen 1's were a dud?

          • @JTTheMan: Yeah no worries! I'm no audiophile but I did notice a reasonably deeper bass and felt ever so slightly more immersive.

Either way I'm glad I did the upgrade!

            • @wellzi: Yeah maybe if I did a harder comparison then I would see the difference?

              Cheers

  • officeworks price match?

    • Called them, they said they wouldn't…

  • +1

they have been this price from this seller and mobileciti for weeks.

  • Bought 2x wireless charging ones. Cheapest anywhere. Cheers.

  • Just received / opened and it turned out they sent 1st gen not 2nd… will ask full refund. Pls check as a first thing when u receive!

    • Can you tell us how you can tell for those who don’t know what to look out for?

      • Easy.. LED battery indicator is on the back of the charging case with 2nd gen. If you have to open the cap to see the LED indicator between two airpods.. it is 1st gen.

        • Thank you so much

          • @lvm: They sent 2nd gen. Led indicator outside is only for wireless charger

    • That’s very worrying. Please keep us updated.

      • Oh. It was my bad. They sent 2nd gen!
