That is also my sentiment.
It has been a long time since I have done some research on robot vacuum cleaners but last time I did awhile ago I wanna say maybe a year now Xiaomi was no competition with maybe irobot roombas a far second only if you wanted something different or for aesthetics sake.
I wasn't able to find anything on the Dyson Eye or basically the Dyson Robot Vacuum Cleaner but that was my hope for a closer competition.
Samsung powerbot I think had their own pros and cons one I think being about size and of course price.
I can't remember the others that were in the running but yeah loads of articles just by typing Xiaomi Robot Vacuum VS and then just let Google finish the sentence.
YouTube was a goldmine of information too.
Probably just wait for the next generation of the Xiaomi offerings unless there is some hidden unknown region specific robot cleaning king we don't know about somewhere because of region limitations and what not.
Being in Oceania can suck because we are definitely not number one in all areas.. NA, EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST and ASIA region definitely I bet would have some unique region specific offerings that OCEANIA does not get I am willing to bet $100 100%.
But yeah that's just my hunch and hope for humanity I mean robot vacuum cleaner industry and offerings.
Does the Gen 1 Xiaomi have WiFi? Because that's the model that would be comparable at $300.
I bought my Roomba second hand for about $250 (they were selling at $500 at Good Guys) and I find that it works really well on my tiled floors, no complaints from me. If it ever does kick the bucket, I'll look into a Xiaomi since the reviews here have been mostly positive.BTW, you should review the guidelines on negative voting. It is to be used if:
1) There is a cheaper option available.
2) Product is defective and has a major issue with how it works.
3) Problem with reseller. It isn't to be used just because you have a preference for another product. Just pointing it out, I don't mind either way, I'm just highlighting a deal that others may find useful.
Please don't tell me about the rules… Just have a look how long I've been here and how many posts/comments I've made. I'm well aware of the rules. There is however grey area to the neg votes and mods don't police them with strict rules. A neg vote to point out a better product for the same price would've been very valid.
The fact that my comment has more votes than this deal says a lot.
I saw my local Aldi still have their robo vac. I thought it would have been sold out by now
It is pretty bad honestly moves more dirt than it cleans so nobody is probably touching it but that could be said for most sub $300 robot vacuum cleaners even the expensive ones don't mean they are any good just feel more "premium" because you paid more for it which couldn't be more fat from the truth in some cases.
Aldi shoppers are probably more in the know more than Coles, Woolworths and other grocery brand shoppers so they have read the bad reviews on cheap robot vacuum cleaners or someone has told them about it to stay away and buy the Xiaomi or "Chinese" one because it is much better.
Ahh cheers I read just one review on some woman’s blog praising it and thought this would be a great replacement for my Xiaomi (parents loved mine so much I gave it to them… and btw I loved my Xiaomi )
I mean the irobot roomba range is not bad they are a close second if not top 3 in the robot vacuum cleaning world it's just if you want the best Xiaomi is the king atm but this deal is still pretty good IMHO if you want to try it.
@AlienC: I’m not sure xiaomi is king. The Roomba i7+ and S9+ are probably the top of the tree at the moment.
@flashi007: Hmm I have been out of the loop since the release of the second gen Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaner when the whole mop debacle was around so you could be right I have not researched or read anything much since then.
Wow they really sound like phones and cpus now with the naming conventions.
@AlienC: I mean who is going to spend over a grand for a robovac when the xiaomi is so well priced?
@flashi007: Exactly my thought process.
Only reason you would get that is if money = value in your thought process which for majority of ozbargainers is the opposite mentality but I can see others who might correlate higher price tag with higher quality which sometimes is true but tests have shown that this is not true for robot vacuum cleaners so far.. Who knows I personally have not owned any of even seen one first hand only studied others studies and the consensus is Xiaomi is King for now unless they are very clever paid marketing but Xiaomi which is highly possible but I like to think moyai reviewers have some integrity for now but the possibility of buying reviews is very possible.
Always consider the impossible or improbable but be withdrawn until certainty is noticed.
@AlienC: These iRobot ones empty themselves which is a great addition to the skill set! Probably not worth the difference in price though
@flashi007: How or where do they empty themselves like does it come with an external trash bin or does it empty into yeah where or how does it empty itself.
@AlienC: It’s got a funky large dock that the robot empties into
I had the Aldi model briefly before I moved to Xiaomi.
It managed to get itself stuck but wasn't activating the bumper. The wheels continued to turn. I found it with bat flatteries and 2 wheel sized holes in the carpet.
At least the iRobot ones sense when the front wheel isn't moving.
But I love my Xiaomi's!
Yeah it seems that each vacuum or the top end have that feeling that they might distinguish from each other slightly with minor features over each other but the overall big picture Xiaomi is the best all rounder for now but others may have certain features that make them excel in a specific environment over each other.
They suck
The Cake Is a Lie
So is the cow level
No wifi…
There's better offerings sub-$500
I won't neg but I'm sure most here would rather a Xiaomi and have wifi and app support
