I see nothing special is incredible S. 4.0 screen and 1ghz snapdragon processor make it only comparable to the very old Samsung galaxy S. The newer Galaxy S2 is ages ahead.

    • +9

but if you sell the phone for $500, means you pay only $88 for 12 months with 1.5gb of data and $550 of calls <3

    • +3

The bargain isn't just about the phone… It is about the fact it is $49 per month on a 12 month contract.

If you have an ABN, this is a damn good deal!

Ive played with bothe the Galaxy S2 and the HTC Incredible in store - im sorry - but im not a massive Tech Head - im just an average jo blow that doesnt need to split atoms with my phone and for me they are like for like -= just minor differences…

Thanks for this post…I was about to go to store and get one but saw this and bought. My first post.
I have heard about this site , and already its paid off.

      • +2

Ok judging by the votes, I was wrong.

  • +3

HTC Incredible S is without a doubt one of the best Android handsets out there.
The fact that is on a 12 month plan is MASSIVE.
    GREAT DEAL

  • Good deal, but I get no Optus coverage in my area :(

    • where do you live?

    • +4

What has that got to do with this deal?

    • good luck mate. how do you think your gonna get one. based off the trend that apple has with their supply. you WONT get one for months after its been announced. and wtf does it have to do with this deal. totally irrelevant

  • plus 3 months free access fee?

    • only on 24 month contract on 59 and 79 plan.

  • +1

    very nice phone.

can do a lot of things fast and smooth.
was able to install apps no worries.

I haven't found a way to root it yet.

    • +16

have you tried buying it a drink?

      • now that's a charming idea…..
        :p

    • AlphaRevX is in beta and should work to root/s-off the Incredible S.

  • FYI, Chat with Optus rep. He said expiry date would be 15th July unless withdrawn earlier. But He can't point me where it says such in the website. However, really the phone worth $500? I thought it may worth around $450 ish max.

    • still awesome deal

    • +1

      So $49 x 12 = $588, less your $450 for the handset (@ 0% interest BTW) = $138. $138/12 = $11.50 per month for Up to $5501included value (calls & txt)
      1.5GB Data2. Unlimited Voicemail3. Unlimited4 mobile access to Facebook®, Twitter®, LinkedIn, MySpace, eBay and Foursquare4…yeah, I guess that is v. expensive

      • -1

no way. this has to be one of the best deals ever!

  • Is it really $49 per month? or its $49 excluding GST?

    • +2

      I bought one - its $49 inc.
Its legit and I cant wait to get delivery - apparently it will be in my hands friday!!!

      • Did they call you to organise the sale?

I need to upgrade my mobile.

        • No I did it on the website and then they called me - i was really surprised how quick it all was. Competition must be fierce - but whatever it is they know how to make it painless and quick

  • Does anybody know if this has Froyo or Gingerbread?

    • +2

      Gingerbread

    • In the link it states

      Android 2.3 Gingerbread

        Sorry, I am a moron.

How strict is Optus with the ABN requirement? At what point is it checked? What would happen if I entered an ABN of a different person?
Sorry for all the questions. :)

    • not strict at all.. do it.
just go to abr.gov.au and find one

      • they're pretty strict. if your gonna do a dodgy. go into a store. unless you want a decline against your name and black listed. instore you will sign a proforma and bypass the risks.

    • +2

      report back!

    • Even if you bypass it. It's considered fraud.
Easier to just register an ABN as a "sole trader".
      Just call yourself "XYZ Services".

      • not really easier. i just applied for a abn this morning again. it will take up to 28 days to give me a abn, not like you can get it as soon as you complete the application.

  • still have one more year lock-in for my 35$ virgin 3gs, otherwise will definitely give it a try.

  • $14more and get samsung galaxy s II through vodafone

    • Link? I haven't actually seen a Galaxy S2 on a 12 month contract for $63 a month.

    • +1

no point having a phone on a network that doesnt provide coverage and their customer service sucks too

      • have the HTC Legend since Dec last year and Voda has been working pretty good for me, calling all the family and friends free (no dropped calls yet) and good signal around work in Melb CBD

  • Pretty big price reduction!
Why does Optus offer such big discounts to people with ABN's. What difference does it make for them.

  • Wish Virgin had this deal. Losing free calls and messages to and from my gf would be a big loss.

  • How is this comparable to Virgin's Samsung Galaxy S on $29 BigCap ($450 call credit at $1 a minute + 40c connection fee)?

I think Virgin's offer turns out to be cheaper.

    Virgin:
    $29 x 24 = $696

    Optus:
    $49 x 12 = $588.
For the remaining 12 months, suppose we get a cheap TPG plan for $19 ($330 call credit, which is a little lower compared to Virgin's) = $19 x 12 = $228

    Total for 24 months = $588 + $228 = $816, which turns out to be more expensive than Virgin's.

Optus's offer has the benefit of not tied down to a contract on the second 12 months at a cost of $120.

In comparison, Virgin allows you to leave early by paying off the phone.

    • SGS is currently being offered cheaper so you're comparing two differently priced phones.

You'd also get alot more data going with optus, which is pretty important for a smartphone.

      • i guess hardware wise, htc is better than sgs, is it? if so, it is probably worth the so-called $120 extra.

however, i dont think you need that much data, even for a smartphone. i never used up my 250mg on current iphone 3gs plan which finally will expire next month.

        • looks not really. it seems sgs has better spec than HTC. someone can confirm? as a 2 years iphone user, android mobiles all look good:D

        • Yes, but you can use your phone as a wifi hotspot now = you need more data.

    • +3

      coolest story ever bro.

  • Hi,

FYI, since some ppl are comparing SGS and Incredible S. SGS has the same promo atm: http://www.optusbusiness.com.au/mobiles/samsung_galaxy_s $49 for 12 months.

I'm considering to get one of these phones. Anyone can recommend? I heard Incred S has very bad batt life and it's a big con for me. Hopefully, SGS II will have 12 months deal as well in the future.

    • These BUSINESS plan offer more value than the personal plans that cost the same.

All phones under the same BUSINESS account get unlimited calls between them. For personal plans, only the first 5 minutes is free.

I have received a Email from Optus. They are sending me SGS II instead of HTC Incredible S. Is anyone in the same boat? Which phone is better?

    • SGS II by far off course. How did you manage that? Is it out of stock for Incredible S? I want SGS II over Incredible S for sure :)

  • Received reply Email from Optus. They claimed it was typing error. Thanks.

  • Ah too bad :) I was a bit excited too early… :)

  • darn they took this off and because i was a day late to decide they said no.

    annoying, any ideas anyone? :p
