  • Nice one. Thanks OP

  • Telstra?

    Hey all,

Just an FYI, the "iPhone 11" is most likely to be announced next week

  • -3

Was a good deal when it was posted 12 months ago

    • +2

      So why not now?

    • +1

      Probably more like 23 months

      • +3

Lol the real sheep are people still saying isheep,

  • -3

Optus has the iPhone XR for $0 on a 2 year $79 plan recently.

    This deal is poor.

    • +8

Yeah not the biggest fan of this deal but the x is superior to the xr, and this deal is one year vs 2 so I’d take this plan over the Optus one if I was in the position to go for one of these deals

      • OLED screen suffer from burn-in and color bleed, so pass if I can help it until MicroLED in 2020/21

        • +2

iPhone X screen does remarkably well at not burning in nor colour bleed

        • My iPhone X is close to two years old now and I have not noticed either of those issues (and I am pretty sensitive to screen quality)

And really? You would rather wait years for a phone with a MicroLED screen? MicroLED looks like promising technology (I am looking forward to the +200" TV screens) but I don't see how it makes your phone a significantly better device.

    • +3

I wouldn't say poor. $1896 vs $1379 with the flexibility of only having a 12m contract rather than 24.

IMO the X is a much better option than the XR. OLED vs LCD screen is just a winner.

      • +6

I wouldn’t say ‘much better option’ - the XR has some advantages being a generation newer.

        • +4

and great battery life, bigger screen too

      • You're getting 24 months of phone service for that $1896 vs only 12 in the $1379 so not an apples with apples comparison. Jumping down to $39 plan after contract. You'd need to pick up a plan for less than $about 40 to have a real saving and it coming down to preferring newer model or older model features.

      • +1

OLED v LCD on these phones is overplayed. I've looked at both several times, next to each other. You have to look for the difference, really look. I'm a bit of a vid geek too, always a Plasma man back in the day, now love OLED displays (panels).

        • You recon…? Personal I know but the OLEDs blow my mind.

    • Where’s this plan?

    • +2

      2 year plans are poor

  • -7

XR is 2 classes behind the X

    • It's using the A12 chip though while the X is using the A11.

  • +3

XR should be in this deal.

    • +3

They are clearing stock before the next iphone is announced next week

    • +1

Why would you want an XR when you can have the X ?

The X has Oled and XR doesn't

      • -8

because oled sucks and uses pwm

      • cause for the longest of time X wasn't sold alongside XR.

I'm rocking the XR, and i regret getting it. The bezels on the side are too (profanity) thick.

Can those more enlightened advise the easiest way to port out of Boost so I can qualify to port into this?

    • +4

      Boost > Vodafone > Telstra.

    • Also - can you port from ALDI mobile to this deal (out of interest?)

      • +1

        Yes, done it myself

        • Thanks Buckster!

  • +1

fyi the JBHI plan does not include peace of mind data

  • So can I take this plan, keep it for a month, convert to month to month plan for free then out of the plan at all?

    • If you can or Telstra let you do it.. see how you go

    • I like your thinking, however I'm doubtful as billing dept would no doubt flag this. Worth a try, this deal by itself is still a great bargain

      • Their billing department is worthless piece of constipated shit

      • Flag as in against their t&c? they wont let you cancel at all or

    • I managed to do it

      • Any cancellation fee? how easy was it, if anyones tried

        • I was able to get my cancellation waved, just had to speak to telstra chat twice. But managed to do it fairly easy

  • Is this for existing Telstra customers too? I’m thinking to buy one for as extra service for my son

  • Any chance of data sharing with Telstra?
Is there any option to share data using another SIM same account?

    • Any post paid plan with Telstra can include data sharing with another post paid Telstra plan, to my understanding.. (does not include pre paid)

      • +1

I don’t think Telstra allows data sharing between accounts anymore.

        • Sorry, within same account at least..

          • @Axytrix: Nope, not within same account. Im with Telstra for over 12 years and have two post paid plans under same account. I was used to able to share data between them. But for past year and half they removed this facility.

            • @mirz: I must be getting special treatment.. worth querying them if I were you.. imgur.com/a/gJ9DA96

              • +2

@Axytrix: If you had data sharing prior to them grandfathering it, you still get to use it until you go on a new plan. But unless you have an ABN, data sharing isn’t a thing any more on the current consumer plans.

Source: on a data sharing plan which expires in December …

                • @kerfuffle: What kerfuffle said is accurate… no sure why he/she got downvoted.

  • Hold out! The iPhone 11 will be announced next week. Most likley jb will do it for $999 on the $65 plan.

  • Hey Op, you might want to add

    New/Port-in customers only

  • Having used a SE and X, I can't see any major differences apart from difference in screen size.

    • +1

Thanks for sharing. I am still holding onto my 16GB SE, which is just fine for my minimal smart-phone use. Still supported by iOS updates as well.
The biggest gripe I have with all the new models is the weight (and price of course).

iPhone SE is 113g which is just right, iPhone 7 is 138g, 25g extra is acceptable.
Now with all the new glass-back models (for wireless charging etc) the X / XS is 174g / 177g and the XR (cheapest new model) a whopping 194g (this would feel like carrying 2x SE’s in your pocket).

    • OLED over the LCD on phones… there's seriously bugger all difference. If you were given both phones blind and had to pick the OLED, it wouldn't be easy. It's not like comparing 65inch+ panels, not at all.

      • +1

yes one would give your eye strain the other would not

  • +1

It's a normal price deal. IPhone X 64GB should be 600 retail. With the specs hardware given is just a normal price.

    • that how apple scams us with this BS backdoor discounting… I only paid $750 for my near new 128gb XR

  • +2

    Offer extended til 18th instore
