Been keeping an eye on the price of this for a little while. Meant to be a pretty good unit for simple printing of 6x4 photos direct from smartphone, camera, media or computer. Usually around $159, seems to come on sale for $129 every now and then, great to be able to stack it with the 15% off eBay Plus code.

if its anything like the old selphys it has a colour by colour image transfer cartridges that does x prints.
They eat ink.
So I assume at this price point, the cartridge replacements are going to make up for the little initial investment!
Does anybody know how much cartridges are normally selling for?$45. With these things you’re much better off going to Officeworks to print the photos.
You purchase a pack which has ink and paper included. At the moment a Plus seller has the 108 pack for $39, so ~36c a print not including cost of printer.
$40 cartridge for 108 photos
Isn't it like almost free to print photos as Officeworks? Why bother having this at all?
Maybe I don't want Officeworks staff looking at my erotic photos?
Sort of like saying why pay more for something that's more convenient. This is a portable printer, even has the option to add a battery pack so you don't need power. I purchased it as a present for someone who simply wants the ability to print at home when they want and doesn't mind the additional cost to do so.
I have commented about this printer before I like it and here's why….
I don't have time to sit and think about which photos to send for printing or to go to a store and sit at a photo booth (my time is worth something too). I love that I can just print the photo right from my phone. It's awesome for finishing off baby books, scrap booking, giving family a keepsake from their visit and the kids treasure the hard copy photos. I can also print photos to test how they'd look in certain configurations for wall hanging, then if I need to send the photos off for a quality print somewhere I can.
If you buy this you are paying a high price for convenience and if you can afford the luxury then I do recommend it… Otherwise don't bother.
On a quality note the printing is good on par with Kmart booth prints, sometimes it comes out a little washed out but a quick tweak of edits can fix that.
own the old selphy x2, the technology of the ink is a bit differ to kmart. the print that came out from selphy dried as soon as it leave printer. no problem in touching the prints
from my memory, i think it is also spill proof, or even water proof

Does it eat ink or consume tuner?!
