    • ootl?

  • This or $590 for 2060 super?

spend a bit more and get the 5700xt which will perform the same and sometimes better than a 2070 super.

      This!

See this Reddit post - this can be flashed to a 5700xt and performs basically the same. It's been true of my recent AMD cards… I have a Vega56 atm that I've flashed to Vega64 bios and it benchmarks at Vega64 levels.

      Pay for a 5700 and get a 5700xt!

Came here to post the exact same things.

The spec sheet for this card say it's only got a single 8-pin so hopefully that isn't a issue, check the thread as someone mentioned it

It will be close to a 5700xt, but it has fewer cores, and also 1 less phase for power delivery. So with tweaking you might be able to beat a stock XT, but a tweaked XT should be beating the tweaked non-XT every day of the week.

edit - I realized that I'm not actually sure about the power delivery for this specific model. The reference 5700 has 1 less phase than the reference 5700XT. This model may have the same power delivery between the two though.

Flashing the card can potentially brick it and also voids the warranty.

        • +2

Anyone competent enough to flash a card knows this already

@kapone: Still a valid point. You don't need to browse forums for long to find someone with a tale of woes from trying to get 110% from their CPU/GPU.

Where graphics cards are concerned IMO I'd say buy the performance you need now, and have the OC/flash option up your sleeve for 2+ years later when your demand on the GPU may be higher, and your card has proven itself, is out of warranty and worth a fraction of the price etc…

They been doing this since at least the 6970

More than $100 more than the reference 5700, and only $5 cheaper than the reference 5700xt. That's a hell of a price hike for a better cooler.

Reference 5700 doesn't really have temperature issues - it isn't great, but it isn't throttling or out of spec. If you're set on a custom 5700, I'd wait. But really, I think the temperature issues are blown out of proportion.

    • I'd personally just undervolt and/or do the washer fix at this price. No point paying a boatload for a "better" cooler.

I say it like that because this card needs a thermal pad replacement to cool better anyways…

  • Custom cooled 5700XTs need to be under $500, hopefully once Vega inventory clears and 5700XT stock improves.

  • but you can get the 5700XT blower style for around this price?

Surely the xt with a bit more noise would still perform better?

  • This would be cheaper if my maths (and by that I mean calculator)skills are decent.

That one's at a level I'd actually consider buying….Although still at $80 more then the cheapest reference.
