Bought a Lenovo Legion Y530 late last year. Loud fan noise and now have issues with it while gaming. Lenovo Support is an absolute joke as well.

    • Does it run hot?

      • I've done a bit of research and most thin laptops like this run hot, this one might be a little bit better because of the loud fans

      • Nah although loud, the fans keep it at optimal temperature before. I had a look and realised only one of my fan is working now so that's great.

    • Good to know. Need a new laptop soon, scratching Lenovo off my list

  • Anyone have any experience with this model?

I'm in the market for a gaming laptop under $2000 and the price seems great. Only things concerning me are:

    • the screen refresh rate, which seems to be only 60Hz. Is that a big deal if I've never used a higher refresh rate before?
    • keyboard backlighting seems to be only red. Is that right? Don't need RGB, but red isn't very neutral.
    • thermals. Any idea? Haven't found a review of this model. Google/YouTube comes up with similar, but not identical ones.

I bought it. Find out next week. If it arrives before deal ends I'll post some info

    • Cheers!

      • It arrived today. I'll post some benchmarks over the weekend.

        • I'm still interested. How's the screen?

  • Dang. The specs and prices are much better than what I have looked at at Dell. Thanks for posting op.

  • Any thoughts compared to this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MSI-GL65-9SD-031AU-15-6in-120Hz-…

Main differences that stand out for me:

Lenovo has the i7 but 60hz screen
MSI has the i5 but 120hz screen

Both end up around the same price and only looking for some mid-level, casual gaming so not sure if the processor will make that much of a difference.

Also not a huge fan of Lenovo, but not had any experience with MSI laptops.

    • Leno = 1 year warranty
      MSI = 2 years warranty

  • is it possible to add extended warranty if purchased through ebay?

Hi JJ yes you can buy the warranty through our website lenovo.com once you get your laptop.

I've just received the PC, and from extensive research online, I think the Y7000 is a more gamery Y540 (exactly the same except for red lighting and exterior change). Really happy with the PC ATM, I bought it more for work and was able to configure cuda 10.0 and cudnn to work with tensorflow-gpu with hybrid mode, have not gamed on it yet but the CPU has reached 95c a few times under load, GPU under load goes up to 70c. I've seen people say they have undervolted the CPU to get thermals to sit around the 80c mark but have yet to try it myself.

  • Can someone recommend a decent 15.6'/17' laptop with a glossy bright screen (300 nits or more). I need it mainly for multimedia and browsing. Absolutely no gaming. Quick responses appreciated!!

  • I regret selling my Alienware 13.

These 15.6 machines are too big. Only good as desktop replacement.
