heard quite good things about this model, seems to be a significant upgrade from the other viofo's. would highly recommend getting a hardwire kit for about $15 on ebay as well to hide the wires. super simple and lots of youtube tutorials to help you install.

    • Such as this?

      • +1

Nope, that kit won't allow parking mode in the A119 V3 to operate correctly. Viofo make a specific hardwire kit, HK3, which was included in the bundle post I threw on OzB last week.

        • Yeah I just found that myself. Spewing I already bought this one. Do you know if I cancel the order do I lose the 15% on other items I purchased at the same time, or just for the dash cam?

            @subywagon: Depends on eBay's T&C's, I guess.

            • @PinzVidz: Returns. If you return or seek a refund on any item purchased using this discount, the value of the discount will not be refunded to you.

I'm not sure if this means for all the items bought together, or just the item I bought.

      • I actually use that exact kit for my a119 v2 and it's great, though I don't use parking mode. The v3 has an upgraded parking mode (sensor buffered), and if you wanted to use that you may need a specific one though I'm not sure what the difference is. IMO parking mode isn't great anyway so I wouldn't be using it for that purpose.

    • Whats the benefit of hardwire kit ?

      • +2

        A few benefits:
        1) cosmetically you get to hide the wires instead of just going straight up from your cigarette lighter
        2) you don't have to use your cigarette lighter so it can be used for something else
        3) depending on how you tap in on your fusebox you can continue to keep drawing power from your car battery to keep recording while your car is off/parked if you want

        • Thanks man. I am not much knowledgeable about dashcams. It ll b interesting if there ade some dashcams with builtin battery for recording in parking mode, i dont think there is any, maybe technical limitations.

  • Ive been thinking of this one as its a dual camera > Blueskysea Mini 0906 GPS Dual Camera < but the new version Viofo's look interesting
though haven't seen any deals on it lately, also haven't read up on it properly as yet, or if there is an updated improved version

  • How long dose the 20k power bank last during park mode to use on these?

  • what is the differences btw v1 v2 & v3?

    • +2

I saw a comparison review with split screen and the V3 was crystal clear day and night compared to the others.

There's quite a few differences, though the important ones are v3 has better lens and camera quality, and a better parking mode. Differences between v1 and v2 aren't as drastic, and they tend to have a faulty connection to their gps attachment if you get the gps version.
