  • "Has a super capacitor instead of a battery, which is a better choice when running a dash cam in hot environments (batteries tend to swell / expand in the heat)"

  • Do HARDWIRE void car warranty ?

    • +2

Depends , if the electric failure they could blame your hardwire. If it is machanical then it will not be affected

      • They would have to prove that the hardwire kit caused the failure and if installed properly it will never cause a problem.

  • Is the hardwire DIY-able?

    • If you have to ask probably not. Take a look on YouTube, only you will know if you're capable.

How does this compare with the Viofo A119S?

A119S has higher resolution so it's better for details like getting licence plate. 0906 does a decent job though, has better colour and obviously has dual channel which A119S does not. Also comes with wireless button for recording lock.

  • Do you really need the GPS features on dashcams?

I can see speed logging and maybe date stamping being ok to have but you presumably know where you are driving, so tracking your route seems more gimmicky to me.

    • eh? speed tracking is part of GPS tracking. Proving where you were at a certain time (in case of an incident) is the point of GPS…not really about tracking your route?

But no, you don't need it, it's nice to have.

      • I was going off the features in the site link for tracking your route.

I thought main use of dashcam was viewing the crappy driving that caused the accident? Why would you need to prove where the incident happened?

        • Oh ok. Yes, I agree that's mainly what a dash cam is for.

We are talking about the GPS function now though, right?

Dunno, proof is proof? Some people (other parties) might lie about where an accident happened for whatever reason maybe?
