[QLD] 10% Reduction in DiDi Ride-Share Prices for Brisbane

100

Received an email that DiDi is dropping their fares by 10%.

Hey Brisbane!

To continue our mission of providing everyday lowfare rideshare, DiDi is lowering the standard pricing of rides in Brisbane by up to 10%* starting from Tuesday 27th August 2019.

Whether you are going into work, class or racing to the airport, you can have peace of mind knowing that even when DiDi isn't running a promotion, you can pay less for every ride you take with DiDi.

By comparison Uber rates are:
UberX and Assist

Base fare: $2.50
Per minute: $0.38
Per kilometre: $1.25
Booking fee: $0.55
Minimum fare: $7.50
Cancellation fee: $8

  • I didn't know the cancellation fee was that high. Drivers only see $4 of it. The rest of the things are good for drivers though.

If only they had more business in Melbourne

    • The above mentioned $8 cancellation fee is for Uber. DiDi takes $4 cancellation fee.

They're no better for drivers than Uber. To elaborate, within 4 weeks of starting in Brisbane they:

      • Reduced rates by 10% with no consultation and 3 days notice
      • Introduced 15 minute "suspensions" for drivers who decline more jobs than DiDi thinks they should be allowed to - one driver reports being suspended for 15 minutes when he rejects ANY job
      • Introduced "minimum weekly completion rates" whereby if the driver cancels on the rider (or the rider cancels on the driver) more than DiDi thinks they should, the driver is put into performance review and banned permanently if they don't get above DiDi's unpublished minimum completion rate

Basically, DiDi is hiring casual employees, claiming they're independent contractors, and not paying minimum award wage.

      • True story… the drivers are the ones getting shafted by Didi now…

        Not good Didi…

Your drivers are independent contractors not employees!

To add, setting targets like minimum 5 rides and 2 hours online time between 7-10am. Its so bad that you are only getting upto 4 rides during that time even after 100% completion rate. I observed this over 3 days. (weekdays). also their guaranteed evening earnings.. forget it.. sham !
