Was this bike named after a famous Mexican sex offender?

  • Hi Rep,

What sort of maintenance do these bikes require? Can you clean/lubricate the chain and replace brake pads yourself?

    • Hi Jezster,

Yes, lubricating the chain and replacing brake pads can no doubt be done by the owner. People are always welcome to call us when they need any extra help.

      Thanks

    VAMOS Electric Bike

    Good deal for Dora.

  • complies and certified to the European Standard for Power Assisted Pedal Cycles

What about Australian rules? Australia is stricter than other places when it comes to powered bikes and scooters

    • +3

You must be mistaken. Australia simply copies EU rules nowadays. Pedelecs limited to 250W or pure electric bikes limited at 200W are the Aus rules.

      Hi there,

      thanks for your question.

Australia actually uses the same rules that Europe uses and all ebikes to be road legal must abide by EN15194.

      Check out

      https://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents/roads/safety-rules/stan…

      all the best

Do you know if Queensland has the same requirement?
Is your bike legal in Queensland?

        • Hi check,

Yes the bike is legal in Queensland. We actually have a few retailers there

          thanks

I can’t tell if this is a good deal or not. Compared to the other pedelecs it is cheap but am I compromising on quality or something by buying this?

I do see that it has a front mounted motor unlike many which have pedal mounted motors, so it may feel indirect?

    • Centre mounted motors are better in just about every way - but that's why they cost a lot more.

      • How much worse is a front hub vs rear hub, and how much worse is a rear hub vs mid-drive?

        • +1

Hub motors are effectively single gear, same torque at the same speed whether you're in low gear going up a hill or high gear going fast on the flat. Centre mounted motors run through the bike's gears, so when you change down to a low gear to go up hill, the motor provides that extra torque through the gears too. So on the flat, hub motors are fine, but if you're doing anything with hills centre mount is far better.

Front vs rear hub is mostly the same, no real benefit of one over the other. Front mount is easier to install and service, but needs longer cables and doesn't look as neat. Rear looks much neater but it's more of a hassle to install and service.

    • This is a good deal for the price you pay. I have been looking for an ebike for a while and eventually settled for this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/463984

Though this is a complete different price point than the one post, hence why good for the price.

My first e bike was the aldi one which I eventually return. What I found was that with the battery at the back, the weight distribution became a problem. Centre mount batteries and mid drives are much better but again you pay for it.

For sub 1k you are getting good value for basic shimano gear, good size and quality battery, okay brakes.

      • How about the Leitner step through linked down below? The battery is under the seat instead of over the back wheel, and is rear drive va front drive.

I am in the market for an Ebike. Has someone bought this before? Any reviews or feedback would help

    • Same… 7 day return is too short considering I’m about to go overseas for a week, so I wouldn’t have time to try.

  • +1

Nice. Would prefer a step-through though. I'm curious to learn about how these compare to Leitner, eg https://leitner.com.au/collections/electric-bikes/products/e….

    • +1

Quickly browsing through I think I would prefer the leitner you linked over this. Rear motor makes more sense to me and the step through design is a commuters luxury, depending on your usage of course.

  • I got this one

    https://www.ridevolt.com.au/

Can add code rodevolt100 to reduce the price by 100 dollars. Don't know about the quality as didn't get the bike yet.

  • What is the maximum assisted speed with this bike?

    • Law states 25kph.
