I use these discounted gift cards to buy the phone plan from Catch (not catch connect) so ends up 20% cheaper

    • What kinds of plan do they have? I want to try Telstra network

      • Catch is on Optus

      • +3

@Averell I highly recommend Boost Mobile, it's owned by Telstra, it's the only network to have full access to the Telstra network. Its prepaid, plan prices are super competitive!!

        • Boost Mobile owned by Telstra is a widespread misconception here.

    • did you try it before? I'm thinking to buy catch sin card by gift card but not sure it works or not

      • +1

I just recently ported to catch, $15 - 90 days and reception has been non-existent.
        Kellyville/NSW

was previously on Kogan 30-day on Voda and was better.

        • Same here … on fourth day WAITING to port from OPTUS to Optus resellers Catch & Connect …
          NOT impressed 💩💩💩

          • +1

@yvesmpicard: This delay in porting from Optus to Catch, probably isn't Catch Connect's fault, but Optus' fault.

The Canstar website explains this as follows:

Why is same-network porting an issue? It’s a bit of a mystery, but when porting from the same network, that same network then has to manually configure your new number to your new MVNO, instead of automatically if transferring from one network to another, such as Telstra over to Optus. Various telcos say on their websites that porting can take up to five business days …

The website suggests first porting from Optus to a Vodafone or Telstra network sim, then porting from the new sim to the Optus network sim. In this case, the process would be automatic rather than manual.

One way to get around porting delays is to avoid going from one network to an MVNO that uses the same network. However, this is not always convenient … One of the easiest ways to work around this is to buy a cheap prepaid SIM from another network, port your number to it, then port out again to your provider of choice. Total time spent porting should ideally be no longer than an a few hours or so. As an example, if you’re on the Optus network and wish to switch to another plan on the Optus network, you would need to either port to a Telstra or Vodafone SIM and vice versa. Cheap SIM cards are available from $2 and can be found in all the major supermarkets …

Are there $100 gift card denominations? or just up to $50?
    12 months to use?

    • +10

I think the law says they need to have an expiry of 3 years for all gift cards.

      • +10

3 years is the law now by the way.

  • Wonder how they refund these with all the constant price errors…

  • Nice :)

  • Damn, just got the 15% (including shopback) ones from Australia post. I might get more though.

  • What's the expiry on catch gc?

    • +3

      3 years

  • Can these be used on catch connect?

    • Only if sold via Catch site AFAIK

    • “ Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase Catch Connect services.”

      • Thanks SLO20 !!!

        • +3

They can if they're listed on the Catch site, which they are.

    • +4

Get them from catch and use them on catch connect.

      https://www.catch.com.au/buy/electronics/phones/mobile-phone…

      • …when they are next 50% off

      • I was referencing the main T&C’s on the website so I’d be careful expecting them to work for connect services even if buying directly.

        • +1

ohh well I bought 2 times using discounted gift cards stacked with uni days discount and cashback and both sim plans went thru

          • @barozgain: Same for me. I got unidays and ret was paid by gc. This is on the catch.com website, not catchconnect. I’m planning to get sims again when our 3 Kogan and 1 catch will expire (I’ll just port out and back in for the 1 catch I have :)

  • +1

Can they be used on items from their marketplace providers? They sell things through Catch.

    • i also want to know

    • +6

      Yes.
I’ve purchased in catch market place with gift cards multiple times.
      Hope that helps.

      • buying something $10xx so 20 of $50 gift cards would get me close to 20% off.

oh no, only 5 gift cards max per redemptionn? can you split payments at catch.com.au?

  • Can you use the discount stack with cashback?

    • -1

      yes you can

      • i doubt. shopback says no when remdeeming gift cards at catch.com.au

  • +3

What do you buy from catch usually?

    • +1

      Huggies

      • Better than the Amazon deals?

        • At times.gotta wait for specials

      • Why do you prefer them over Aldi brand? I've never had an issue with Aldi brand. Child 2 is almost 12 months now.

        • Personal preference..

          • @stockastics: Fair enough, they're more pricey though aren't they?

            • +2

@King Steuart: Yes. Had a leaking disaster with Coles nappy and then the boss (wife) vowed to never use anything but Huggies. At times, one just needs to yield..

    • Skechers

    What's the catch?

      Dad?

      • +3

        No, I am your father!

  • Even with Coles now spun off from Wesfarmers, I would expect Wesfarmers ownership of Catch would have no doubt influenced this deal to try and drive some top line sales.

    • +1

Wesfarmers does still own 15% of Coles. Not sure if they influenced this marketing decision though.

  • Can they be used for catch marketplace purchases?

    • +1

      Yes read above.

  • +5
    • Switch is 369 for non member, plus shipping.

Is there special price for member? Can i use trial membership to get that price?

      • 369 less 20% discount (with gift cards) = $295.20 but that's if you apply 3 x $100 gift cards (which I haven't seen at Coles).

        • Use 5 X $50 gift cards?!?

    • I don't think anyone found the $100 vouchers @ Coles

  • +1

What's the RRP of the Pxel 3a? I thought it was $649?

    https://m.catch.com.au/search?query=Pixel+3a&sort=2

    $745 here

    • +1

      $649 on JB's web page

    • +1

@WaywardOne When I click on your link to Catch "Pixel 3a" search I get 84 pages, over 3,000 items, including Macbooks, DJI drones, WTF!!!! Their search results system is as annoying as hell!! But anyhow yes it is meant to be $649. You could meassage them asking for the correct RRP, as Catch "usually" goes by the RRP as a maximum price. BTW a friend of mine just bought the Pixel 3A XL and I have the Pixel 3XL and comparing phones, screen, software build etc, the Pixel 3A XL is far better value, for very little real world compromise. If you could get the Pixel 3A at 20% off $649 that would be a cracker of a deal!!

Does anybody know how often/luckily catch connect will put their sims plan half price? We are still a while away from Current plans to expire, but I am thinking of getting the gift cards now for when we need new plans. The 150gb plan will only cost $108, possibly less if unidays 10% still works.

  • Anyone purchased these at Cokes using e-gift cards?

  • Can I use it at Catch home insurance?
any good home + contents insurance recommended by the way?

  • +1

Nice and woolworths and Coles just change their gift cards to non expire.

  • $50 denominations only? Or do they have $100 too?

    • I think they do have also $100.

  • Cheers OP. Christmas presents nearly sorted with these.

Sold by Mobileciti (AU model stock), the Samsung s10e would be $878 + ship when using 5x $100 cards.

    https://www.catch.com.au/product/samsung-galaxy-s10e-5-8-16m…

    • +1

Very expensive. I mean it was just under 700$ recently.

      • @baldur under $700 for AU model? I don't think so…

        • au model stock and au stock are different things? if so, you are right.

    • Can you use your paypal/credit in conjunction with the Cards?

      • I’d assume so

    • coles dont do $100 gift cards for catch

  • great timing!

  • What GST appears on the tax invoice (for Australian stock) if you pay with gift cards?

The other question, is it possible to claim GST refund (via TRS) for gift cards purchase (Coles receipt)?

    • +1

Gift card should be no different to any other payment method when it comes to getting an invoice with GST. You shouldn't need to use Coles receipt.

  • If it was other way around.. it would be nice.

  • +1

Has there always been a 5 card limit? That's a shame because this would be great to use to buy a smartphone from them…

    • like the v30 :(

  • Are the goods sold at Catch 100% genuine? I'm looking to buy shoes and jacket, but I'm not sure if its worth the saving if I'm getting counterfeit items at the end.

    • ACCC would love that considering it's owned by Wesfarmers.

  • +1

Is there any promo codes available?
UNLOCK5 and WEEKEND10 are not working.

Can we use both promo code and gift card together?

    • +1

Try 15OFF I am not sure if that works for you but just try it out and let others know :)

      • tried on catch for the v30 and it didnt work

  • Can use Catch Gift Cards and then at the same time apply promo code and use shopback too? :)

    • SB : Cashback will not be paid when gift cards are redeemed
