(profanity) I'm so over seeing these comments. No one cares about your insignificant life, no one is spying on you - you're just not important.
You don't even understand the many thousands of datapoints there are available on you, being freely traded amongst corporations to target you with ads, and to tailor your online experience. Your ignorance makes you the perfect patsy - people like you in fact constitute the bread and butter of an entire industry. Your ignorance and unwillingness to understand, in fact, are the things keeping the entire economy afloat. So feel good about yourself.
No, I do understand exactly all you've said to me.
IF I choose to be veiwing ads, I'd rather they be a reminder to me if things I actually want, rather than just be random images posted everywhere.I'm not blind to the fact that many thousands of datapoints exist on me, being traded amongst corporations - all of which make some money, providing jobs to people, in the hope that I click one of those ads.
I simply don't clicks ads. Win-win. I get the conveniences of these great little devices while others benefit from an economy that I contribute to for all but the very end company.
So you go ahead and miss out on great things, all because you're paranoid that you might get advertised things that you want?
Hows that tinfoil hat of yours?
Anyone would like a tic tac?
$78 at Officeworks - https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/google-hom…
What do people actually use these for? I got one during the spotify promotion and the most common use is asking it the time. Just interested if theres anything else it can really do
Turn on lights, adjust brightness, set alarms and reminders, check if stores are open, music, turning on various powered items remotely.
General question. Sometimes I like to know if a n actor is still alive, or how old they may be while watching TV. Can control Netflix when I lost the remote.
Thanks, I need to get some smart outlets because right now its a really great paperweight
One of my favourite functions is the shopping list - whenever something pops into my head I can immediately say "[device] add XYZ to my shopping list", so as long as I remember to take my phone shopping with me to check the list I never have those "Oh crap I forgot XYZ again" moments.
Yesterday I was pondering holiday destinations, and I could ask things like "What is the average temperature in Somewhereia in April" while I was chopping veggies for dinner.
"When is the next bus to the city" is handy.
My smart device is linked to my music media vault, so wherever I am in the house or whatever I'm doing I can ask it to start/stop playing, skip tracks, change volume etc.
When I get up in the morning I ask it to play my customised morning news briefing while I get on with other stuff.
Used to have these, but it always struggles to pick up commands from afar. Switched to echo dot 3 and it's much better, only problem is that they're not as knowledgeable. Wish google added more mics on theirs.
agree, i am constantly screaming profanities at mine in frustration
$40 has been the standard price for these in Officeworks and Bunnings for The last few months. It pretty sad that they call this a sale price at JBhifi
do we have still this price available anywhere ???
On ebay they are selling for $35-$40 new incl shipping. Or visit the Bunnings shops and see if they still have the $40 price. Or just wait until the price goes down again everywhere.
