It is only illegal to unblock phones which are blocked from the network

  • +1

This deal is bust. Nothing saying which phones or what prices.

  • I have a nokia 2220 (optus) bought from Cole, how much to unlock? Thanks

    • +1

That my friend will be only $10.00

    • I would think $10 as indicated in title ;)

  • +2

My post isn't the best worded.
Coles generally change their 1/2 price phone each week.
I'll unlock most of the Coles phones for only $10.00 ie 2220s the zte t108 and the zte bubble touch.

Wish you were located 3,300km closer to Sydney :-)

Pls note that it has to be a 3g phone for 3 to work.

give us a list of popular phones and the price to unlock then
then people can see if its cheap or not

    • +1

I have provided a list a few post up of the phones, I can do for $10. I have yet to see someone mention another store that can do the same price. There are options for people, they can try some online codes, they can use some online calculator, or someone also posted a program to try. I know the networks will also do it for a large fee or you can stay with them for a period.

I would love to do a flat list but some phones take literally hours to unlock (including downloading of firmwares) ie samsung brooklyn. (Customer paid $45)

      • -7

I know the networks will also do it for a large fee

I know for a fact the Optus and Virgin do it for FREE

        • +2

Please post the procedure for unlocking Optus locked phones for free.

        • +3

I know for a fact the Optus and Virgin do it for FREE

No they do not and you have said it enough already.

Optus charge $80 to unlock the phone, no you do not pay an $80 unlocking fee but you need to have spent $80.

If you want the phone unlocked without ever using optus then you are not better off getting optus to do it as it will not be free.

      • -7

Please post the procedure for unlocking Optus locked phones for free.

        you call them.

  • +3

Why are people arguing over the semantic of what a bargain is.
    A bargain is a bargain.

    • -4

      A bargain is a bargain.

unless it's just an advertisement of your regular prices…

Otherwise, why are so many posts removed as SPAM? and not left posted to let us vote on them ???

      • +3

unless it's just an advertisement of your regular prices…

The car dealer down the road from me has been selling brand new ferraris for $50,000

Should i not post that as a bargain because it is their regular price even if it is $500,000 cheaper then any other car dealer?

If this unlocking service is cheaper than other services in perth then it is a bargain

        • In your case, you can compare the price.

In Op's case, he merely state it was cheaper but did not mention who was he comparing against. It made his post look like advertising which is why he was negged

    • Thank You,
I was thinking the same when I posted this. I previously worked at another cash city and we were charging $40 for these phones, we only unlocked 30%. I charged $20 and my rate was 75%.

@jv This topic is clearly getting you hot under the collar, and making you very angry. - if this topic is bothering you so much, why don't you stop reading this thread?
Your just adding time wasting comments, making it harder for other to read through to find the actual questions and real answers.

    • +2

i would +ve vote your comment twice if i could!

  • can you unlock galaxy tab p1000 that is locked to optus? how much?

  • +3
    1. The price isn't clear - from $10….
    2. The models that can be unlocked aren't detailed.
    3. A Quick search of Google provides thousands of results - some of which are free, many of which are cheaper.
    4. If you've served you contract period you can unlock for free. I you haven't then your breaking your contract - so it's not (completely) legal.

    5. Deals like this undermine the idea of OzBargain. I go through the OzBargains via my feeder reader and am getting more and more crap.

    • Breaking your contract? Can you point me to any terms of the contract which suggest any such thing? I read the "Terms and Conditions" and could find no mention whatsoever of any such rule. If there was, you can be sure they would include it!

  • +2

Starting from $10 is hardly a clear cut bargain

There's plenty of websites that generate unlock codes for free

Plenty of providers unlock phones for free or after you do an initial recharge

  • +2

Plus you should link directly to your unlocking service on your website otherwise its just trying to draw traffic to your website which obviously doesn't draw a lot on its own

You make no indication on your regular pricing so there's not baseline for this being a bargain apart from your word

As for needing a powerful computer to brute force this is also a lie a basic video card can do it in a few hours tops

    • Excuse me,

Can you please provide a link to these sites that will unlock the 2220s or the t108 for free.

Can you also provide a link with the specs of the computer that can brute force using a basic video card in a few hours.

You say starting from $10 isn't a bargain, who does it cheaper???

      • +2

i went to a website called "GOOGLE" and typed in "Unlocking Nokia N 2220" and got a bunch of results….whether they work or not is as guaranteed as the method listed here….

        • +3

I unlock the phone give it to the customer, show them it's working with another sim/or there sim, they pay.

          I guarantee it.

        • +1

OH HEY, I can cook Carbonara Spaghetti too if I look up online. But why should I go through all the trouble of learning and cleaning for something I am only do ONCE.

Point is people offered services due to YOUR convenience. 99% of service businesses make profits this way.

    • +2

As for needing a powerful computer to brute force this is also a lie

      +1

  • +1

In intent this looks like a bargain from a supplier and not spam. You are always free to shop online.

  • +3

Just a warning to these people who try these online calculators for some of these phones, they have a counter on them for the number of tries. If you try and put to many in your phone can lock up (freeze).
I agree with some of these posters that there are free calculators out there for some older phones and some ztes, including the mytabs.

For the poster who says this deal undermines Ozbargain, this deal is perfect for those who with to buy a phone from Coles for say $24.50, unlock it from me for say $10. total Cost $34.50…On the other hand they can buy it already unlocked for $79 or pay $24.50 then $80 to the provider.

The reason why the companies subsidise these phones is they hope to get the money of the customer via recharge.

To the people who have negged me, how come noone has provided a link to a cheaper service.

  • +6

Either way this stuff should be on the forums

  • I stated 2220s

2220 is a dct4 phone, these phones can't be unlocked remotely.

I'm not whinging, these remote unlock sites don't work hence the size of the unlocking business world-wide.

Can you please post that link to the pc which can bruteforce a sl3 code in a few hours as well.

    • +1

these remote unlock sites don't work

so you've personally tried them all have you ???

      • +3

        HERE'S A FREE DCT4 UNLOCKER

Theres a few more google it

        • +4

          MORE NOKIA FREE UNLOCKERS

          http://nokia.nigelcoldwell.co.uk/unlock/

        • dct4 is obsolete,
but all the 3310 owners I'm sure appreciate your work.
I have stated there are free unlockers for certain phones but the ones' I've mentioned in my post aren't available free.

        • +3

If DCT4 is obsolete why did you mention it 3 posts above saying they can't be unlocked remotely? I have proven otherwise

      • no but several of my customers have.

If you have had a positive experience with one post up, it'll save me the thousands I spend each year updating my boxes/dongle and pcs

        • I was referring to the 2220s, not being able to be remotely unlocked. One of Nokias problems is they released 2 different models with the same model number ie 2220 and the 2220s and they did a 6110 and a 6110n. BenMHarvey I agree with what you are saying the calculators you are finding will help all the people with dc4 phones and you will see that these calculators came out in 2006/2007.

I was reading about the remote unlocking sites you posted and they said, It could take 3 days to find your codes and if not they'll refund you the money, some of my customers said they had to get the ban to reverse the payments.

I'm all for choice, try the remote sites first, I'm here 7 days a week, so when they fail, I'll happily do it on the spot for you. (Please note sl3 handsets can not b done on the spot.)

    isn't this just an advertisement?

  • +16

Damn, I reached my daily neg limit by negging jv :(

    • -1

      well done
you also contributed to the deal by personally declaring you don't agree with jv's opinion. Just what we needed, more cluttering of an already cluttered post.

This by all means looks like a advertisement to me, barring the deals given for the phones listed, CBF looking up if they can be unlocked for free or not.

Also since OP has mentioned that he will personally unlock the phones, Might wanna mention the state and city he is providing the service so someone from another state won't waste his time here.
If he is also providing remote unlocking service, should be too hard to list the different pricing given he wouldn't need the phone and can also determine from previous customer experience how long it would take and how much he charged them.

      • I am in Perth.
I also receive phones from the Eastern States. They just include a return prepaid satchel.
I do not do any phones by remote.
I agree the post is very cluttered.
I'm not a full bottle on remote unlocking, but from what my customers are saying, the codes don't work, they hold your money for a week. There may be better one out there.
The service I give is on the spot,
Sl3 unlocking requires is very intensive, it uses GPU power and contrary to what the other posters believe, I have a pc with a hd5970 iirc in it and it can take up to 80 hours, a computer with 2 6990 cards can produce the code within 48hours. The computer runs 24/7 and the fans work overtime.
When Coles or woolworths release their weekly specials I'll post an ozbargain deal as this can be great value ie $24.50 plus $10 for an unlocked phone.

        • Prolly best to put the first 3 lines of that in ur description up top

  • +6

Guys I will give you $10 jsut not to comment anymore as you are taking up so much of my time, (compulsive and rivetting reading).

    • Sure.

      • You do EFT? :o)

        • I can but I need the phone to be able to unlock it.

        • LOL \o/
I think he was asking the guy giving out $10

  • can you unlock htc wildfire locked to telstra

    • +1

Not at the moment, I'm ordering a htc unlocker in the near future.

  • Hi, I have a Nokia 2700C-2 (locked to Virgin) - how much to unlock? Thanks

    • It's probably not worth your while, This is a SL3 the price will be $30.

  • please keep the free unlocker nokia websites coming. so far ive unlocked mytab , now i just need a free site to unlock a nokia e63 and a 2330c-2

One more I used to do.

      e63 can either be sl2 or sl3.

      • what about galaxy tab p1000 locked to optus? not yet? couldn't find your answer to my question..

        • I will get back to you with this one, it seems the process is new and there could be teething problems so I won't attempt it, until they have it down pat.

  • +4

Regardless of the site rules, I just want to state my opinion. This website to me is ozbargain, not ozsale. If your normal prices are cheaper than everywhere else when everywhere else has a sale, I still want to know about it. That's just me personally anyway.

Also, the OP has stated numerous times that certain phones are usually $20, but he will unlock for $10 if you mention ozbargain. This alone constitutes the rule of it having to be a sale.

Sounds to me like jv has an agenda against cashcity, but hey, could be wrong.

    • +1

How is it a sale though if you can just google search the unlock yourself & do it for free ?

      • Because you can't. read the thread and use google for more info.

I'd also like to state the the only people who are negging this would be doing so due from an ethical perspective and not in relation to the deal itself. I have an ethical issue with this post, but whether I like it or loathe it, it doesn't change the fact that it is a bargain.

  • +3

I think many will agree with me, can a mod seriously ban jv or atleast implement an /ignore jv function where his posts wont show up? Half this clutter is him obstinately complaining of a non-existent issue - we heard you the first time, we unlike some, are not retards that are persuaded, or in your case, brainwashed, by repeating the same thing 100 times.

Now I've got that out - definitely a bargain, and not illegal in any way. If it was illegal don't you think the telcos would have sued the brick and mortar stores which do this for fee? Sure some phones can be unlocked for free online, but you're risking locking it to the network permanently. Further the newer phones cannot be unlocked via those methods.

OP: we aren't all idiots as some people don't seem to understand the complexity of technology these days :)

    • +1

He already has to talk to the mods apparently, so leave it with them. I just wish jv would knock off quoting so many comments in his replies, that's what's overfills topics with pointless text

  • +3

I won't neg this because people have posted useful website for unlocking, but I'm seeing more and more advertisement like deals rather than real deals. The description is poor and do not allow people to judge whether it is a real bargain.

For example, how would you like a N95 from 99c? (e.g. eBay) Not useful at all…

Also do not list state and that this is not online. Good way to waste people's time I think.

    • +2

exactly, I think the title/description should only state those phones which can be unlocked for $10, if extra charges apply name the type of phone and a list of phones which are that type.

Yes it is 10mins of work but keeps the post clean and makes it look like you actually made an effort to post here and not just an advertisement. I myself like to research my post and add useful links so that people do not have to check if the deal is any good.

      • yes, half the problem of this post is that while there is a bargain, its not specifically stated which phones are on offer for the $10. I guess let it be a lesson to all future posters that it can cause a rukus if you dont state exactly what the bargain is.

  • how bout samsung galaxy s2 ? =)

  • -1

You can unlock phones for free by calling and telling them that you're going overseas. It has worked for me a few times.

    • +1

You will just start another debate if you suggest ppl mislead their service provider

  • +6

You guys really aren't giving much incentive for reps to respond to your questions when all you're doing is hating/flaming them - repeating yourselves over the definition of a bargain and spam.

Judging by how there are definitely more +'s than -'s, it seems that OzB members have decided that this is definitely a bargain, so can you all just chillax?

We have more spam in the comments in threads these days than spam from posters, and if you ask me, THAT seems to be the problem here.

    • +1

      nicely posted

  • A few networks unlock the phone for free, if you're on a plan. Even Telstra does it. If you're on prepaid then obviously this service is nice and cheap. (But, there are plenty other cheap websites that offer remote unlocking too)

  • In the end use this post for use with a local competitor

  • Can you unlock Telstra T100. If yes, for how much?

    • Yes I Can
Bring it in, mention Ozbargain and $10.00

  • Ok this deal isn't for everyone, I will list where I get the majority of my business from.
My customers are generally those who with to put a foreign sim ie amaysim or lyca (Spelling) into their phones.
These phones aren't released with these sim cards at discounted prices ie $24.50.

If ozbargainers want to spend some time googling they will find that with BB5 phones such as 2220s can't be unlocked remotely as the information is stored on a chip, so the phone has to be connected to a pc and dongle/box to get the code.

The provider can give you the code, but I've only found this to be if you are with that telco. ie on a plan.

If you find a site which says it'll unlock your phone and the password is incorrect, please don't keep retrying as the only way to revive your phone may be to reflash the handset.
