[eBay Plus] MSI Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB EVOKE OC Graphics Card $670.65 Delivered @ Computer Alliance eBay

590
PANTHER

Original Coupon Deal

First deal post, please be gentle.

This is the best price I've seen for a custom-cooled RX 5700 XT. The Evoke OC has good reviews. It seems to fix the temperature and noise issues with the blower cards. Great price-to-performance option for 1440p gaming.

Looks like a good price since a blower style one costs $629, I'd recommend getting the one you've listed as it will no doubted have a better cooling solution.

Had the reference blower style one, was hot as hell and loud like a jet engine. Driver support also is pretty garbage where I was crashing in 80% of games despite a fresh install of windows

    • +6

if you compare apples to apples, you can get a blower style for $577-600 using the same ebay code. that said, this is a good price for an AIB

      • +7

Blower reference is the way to go if you plan on waterblocking it.

        • or AIO it. It shares the same holes as 290/390 cards, which lines perfectly with some AIOs.

      • +3

Honestly, I think the ~$580 is pretty good for the reference. I had one and it was pretty quiet IMO, especially with a little undervolt. Much better than Vega. Wattman gave me something like 1148mV which is pretty substantial for an automatic undervolt and I was able to achieve a bit better manually.

However, it gets louder again with increased power limit, so I'd only recommend if you're not looking to squeeze a ton more out of it. I returned mine because of a warped PCB around the mounting, which would've looked like I damaged it if I were to repaste or slap the Morpheus on so no good for me. Hopefully the refund is processed before this goes OOS.

Good to see sensible systems throwing bargains on the good ole OBz. Been following on the book of face for a while and you're always up to date with hot deals.

    • +1

Ha, hello! Yes, been lurking but had to post this one :-)

  • -2

lol still way too expensive for me. Seriously, can someone tell me if it'd drop to $500 in 6 months?

    • It won't.

That is going by history, you'll have to wait until the next generation replaces it.

    • +8

not when the nvidia equivalent is $800+

      • +3

Correct. Also the Australian dollar is falling compared to American so making the price even worst for the kangaroo country.

    • +21

      You're a $2000000000 fighter jet and you're worried about $100.

      • This card probably makes more heat than the F-35 Fighter Jet.

        • You could strap your case on your back and use it as a jetpack.

    • The 5700 wouldn't be far off that with the deals I reckon, give it a look.

  • +12

MSI: Hey, can I copy your homework?
Saphire: Sure, just change the colour so that it doesn't look like you just copied it.

    • +2

Sapphire: I didn't there are two copycats. MSI I know. Saphire???

  • +2

Too much of a price premium over the reference design. AIB boards are supposed to be ~USD10 over the reference board. Will wait for a bit for AIB prices to settle first.

    • Yah, and this card doesn't really earn it either. The pulse is a pretty excellent card for what it's meant to be priced.

Hope that thing drops to a reasonable level…

  • 800 bucks for 2070super or this one?

    • Depends. Are you going to play with Ray tracing? Are you just play with the card? Are you going to overclok it? Are you using a monitor with free or g sync? All of those questions have to be consider plus whatever you saved from the nvidia one are you save or spend in computer improvements?

      • thx mate, for suggestion : p

Just a comparison with nowadays games.

If you can wait until next year Intel will be on the game so price drop certainly.

          • @MDSUXKS: is intel actually gonna pull thru this time around? They have been saying they are developing a dedicated graphics card for over a decade now. Always just end up pulling the project after.

            • @kingnunu: I have to agree with you. But to be honest if you look how Intel's maturation since back 10 years ago. They now have the engineerings, the materials and a good view of the market since even their integrated graphics card are quite good nowadays. But as you mentioned they can still put ou the plug. I will wait since eventually Ddr5 and maybe pci express 5 could be launch soon. So next year will be amazing.

              • @MDSUXKS: bruh, they have been rereleasing the exact same processor for like 5 years…

                • @kingnunu: The manufacturer process is the same that's why they are using the same process also lack of competition. Next gen have to change. But now also they have a lot of money since they have been ripping us of as normal costumer and the enterprises with their "amazing" itaniums. My point is if they release something it will put pressure on nvidia to drop the price.

          • @MDSUXKS: Intel's doing datacentre cards first, they won't be coming out with gaming cards for a while.

            • @BenR31415: Let's see. I still have hope next year they will release something for us costumers. But as well I agree with you server is where they make more money.

    • 2070 Super - if you can get it for $800. From a price point of view, you only save $9 (based on MSY price - $679) for MSI RX 5700 XT. The Sapphire one is $639 at MSY.

FreeSync is now supported by nVidia so monitor is less of an issue. RX 5700 XT - if you want one, I suggest get the Sapphire one (because it is cheaper) unless that one has really noisy fans.

    • Cheapest 2070 super at the moment with a $100 premium over 5700XT Evoke - you're choice if it's worth the extra for Ray Tracing etc.

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/173993118100

$772.65 - 2 left at time of posting!

      • hmm now thats tempting since this 5700xt sold out.

    • shopping express ebay lists its 2070supper oc gaming for 945 bucks before 15% off, cashback can do 1% off, looks like good chance for grabbing .. also 2070super has nvlink function, could be improved sli?

    • +4

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I thought he was half joking about being blown away by Ray Tracing support in Minecraft. It may not be such a bad excuse though…

Need to get RTX 2070 Super for "children" might get approved by the real boss (i.e. wife).

        • -1

now that's a pro GAMER move. Big brain time

        • Not joking. Minecraft getting ray tracing support. Only just been announced.

    • +2

Ray tracing does look good, I'm a fan of it, but when it comes to new games, ray tracing isn't a massive difference in visuals as modern games are excellent at faking it. The reason that ray tracing looks so dramatic on Minecraft as that they not comparing RTX ON versus modern lighting techniques. Here is a video of an early 2018 mod for Minecraft: https://youtu.be/2CFDQKVj3mg
Does RTX ON look better? Yes, of course but it isn't as dramatic now.

Ray tracing has a cost not just in money but in performance too, it is the new Ultra+ settings in games, thing is, the difference between Very High and Ultra in most games is barely noticeable visually, but you'd certainly notice the performance hit. Now with ray tracing, ultra settings versus ray tracing means that you can see it when you look for it, but your fps has been hit hard. Also note that ray tracing is dramatically affected by higher resolutions, so you are looking at 1080p gaming with RTX ON.

Best possible experience with gaming means high fps too, so you are going to want a 2080 Super or 2080ti, otherwise with a 2070 Super you are going to choose between amazing visuals with acceptable performance or great visuals with great performance. With fully utilise my ultrawide 3440 x 1440 monitor @ 75Hz with ray tracing would require a very expensive GPU, but with a reasonably priced 5700 XT I could have most settings on ultra graphics, run at full resolution and games will run around 75fps too.

I am looking forward to when ray tracing is available at reasonable costs.

      • I'd be curious to know whether people found RT or 1440p/4k better to enhance visuals.

  • won't be flying till late Nov, unable to claim under TRS (way over 60 days).

Should I be splurging money on this now? Been looking to get this exact card. Or should I wait?

    • -1

This exact card? Um, MSY price (no discount) is $679. Sapphire 5700 XT is $639 at MSY. Basically, this deal isn't that attractive.

I suggest you wait (unless you believe AUD will drop significantly soon).

      • +1

        but that's the blower version.

I suppose I'll wait it out, just maybe I can even cop 2070 SUPER for marginally more after TRS

        • Good point about the blower version, not worth getting.

Unless you currently plan to spend significant amount of time gaming soon, best to wait. No must play super duper new games at the moment.

          • +2

@netsurfer: I mean I have seen benchmarks of this card vs the 2070 super and they trade blow to blow in gaming. If you need an upgrade why not just get this. It just came out its not like we are expecting any major changes in GPUs over the next 6 months. Otherwise you can basically say just wait whenever anything comes out because something newer is always bound to come out a year later…

    • don't see why not wait till Black Friday

      • google says it's on the 29th of Nov, I'm flying on the 26th. Unfortunately.

        • F. I would say just wait for the next sale, should be one every month or so, but of course I can't guarantee anything.

Or ask a friend leaving earlier to TRS it for you, shove your old gpu in the box, they won't know or check.

    • If you can wait a bit longer for the other customs to launch you might be better off. This card performed worse then the pulse, but (theoretically) should be selling for more.

Unfortunately, seems like the pulse is being severely overpriced right now. So I'm hoping more custom variants result in price drops to that card - to around the $650 - $670 point (where it should be)

  • frame per dollar this pwns anything comparable from Nvidia

  • Looking for a Red Devil at around $600 ideally, could be waiting a while.

    • Red dragon will probably sit around the $670 mark before sales. Hopefully that card brings the pulse into line as well.

  • Are these 2.5 slots?

    • Saids its 51mm so looks like 2.5 slot.

  • +1

Looking at the picture, I thought the old cassettes were back in style :P)

  • +1

Finally a video card that matches my Noctua fans!

    • +2

      lol.

      nothing matches noctua fans

  • +1

Thanks for the post. Ended up ordering it. Saved 60 over PC Case Gear and only 30-40 over the cheapest reference blower.

    • Great, hope you enjoy it!

  • What does it compare to in Nvidia world? RTX 2060 at best? or 1060?

    • +1

Well above a RTX 2060 and GTX 1060.

      Just above a RTX 2070.

      Below a RTX 2070 Super.

      • +1

        Thanks mate

    • slightly below the 1080ti, above 2070 and 2060 super, lower than 2070 super

    • 8% slower then the 2070s.

      Would be 20 - 30% better then the 2060.

1060 isn't even comparable (don't have any numbers for it, but it'd be a lot slower then the xt)

      • 5700XT is a bit faster than a RTX 2070, but slower than a RTX 2070 Super.

Or did 2070s mean 2070 Super?

  • Really like the look of this card, reviews say it's quieter than a reference card but lounder than you would hope. Apparently a bios update had helped some what but is it still loud for this style of cooler.

    https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_radeon_rx_5700_xt_…

  • I've got a RTX 2080, looking to try 5700xt. Is this worth the trade?

    • I read everywhere that it depends on the game. In some games the 5700XT does better, but overall I think the RTX 2080 is still better.
      https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-2080-vs-AMD…

    • No

    • No

    • Curious why you were wanting to switch the cards? 2080 is still faster by 10%~.

It's a horrible buy (generally) new, but if you already have one mightn't be worth a downgrade.

Unless you were selling it? In which case gaining $200 - $250 for a 10% performance downgrade doesn't sound bad. But I'd be hoping for $630 for customs after coupons.

  • Would i be better off getting a reference card for $577? does it usually take long for custom card prices to drop?

    • +2

I'd wait a while to see some proper pricing for an aftermarket cooler card (unless you want to buy one of those arctic gpu coolers)

  • +1

Good price, but eagerly waiting for the Powercolour Red Devil 5700 XT stocks to arrive locally which has been getting rave reviews. Hopefully we see similar good prices for that model!

    • idk i didn't like the layout of the red devil card. I like to have a neat and tidy build and they placed the 8pin connectors in the middle of the card between the second and third fan. Kind of bothers me lol

    • I'd hope for the pulse price to normalise. It's an excellent card for what it's meant to sell at, but for $800 is madness.

  • Looks like it's out of stock now

    • +4

Available here and cheaper too at $653.65.
