Best Low Interest Rate Credit Card

I have Community First now, but it sucks. Even though the credit limit is high.. the card acts weird. Sometimes.. it declines transactions even for 20$.. if you use it more than 3 times a day, it stops working. I don't recommend Community First..

I want to go with another card with some good reputation with low interest rate and at least some interest free period. I googled around and Canstar gave few options including G&C mutual came up as a good bet.

I wanted to hear your suggestions.

I’m no expert in cCs but I do have a 28 degrees, no annual fee, 50/60 interest free and I don’t know the interest rate, because I always pay it off on time. If you get a CC you should always pay it off every statement, don’t pay interest.

  • I don’t understand. What does “I can't do any transaction more than 20$ at time“ mean? How much do you generally owe on your credit card each statement? Ideally you should be paying it off in full each month and paying $0 interest. Do you need a balance transfer deal for whatever you currently owe?

    • If I have to buy anything above 20$, the bank declines :-) It also acts weird. At some places, I can do transactions more than 50$ with no problems at most places it won't allow.

I do pay off every month..

If you pay it off every month, then the interest rate is nor really relevant.

Perhaps look for cards with lowest annual fee and longest interest free periods, also cards with no international fees.

        28 Degrees comes to mind.

Also what did Community First say when you asked them about "weird" declines?

      • If you pay off every month and don't really need credit, then you could also open a bank account with one of the Big 4 or Mid-Tier (ING/HSBC etc) banks & get a Visa/Mastercard debit card & use that for shop & Internet transactions.

  • Hang on… a credit card with a $20/transaction limit??

    • The limit for the credit card is high but I can't buy stuff if it is more than 20$ . I know it is weired but only when you try Community First you will understand. As I have commented to another post, I can buy stuff for more than 50$ with no issues at some places but most places it gets declined.

Sounds like a dodgy card to me.

Have you tried contacting them to see if maybe there's some kind of glitch in your account? The pds says daily limit is $200, not $20.

Whatever next credit card you sign up for, make sure you read the pds and not just assume all CC are the same.

  • Do you travel at least once a year? Go for something that has free travel insurance. It's worth having it.

    • Ok. Thats a great idea.
