Remember it must have pool fencing.

    • +2

      Yes…of course. Added

    • +3

Also not sure about other states but in qld must be registered, which involves a paid inspection, , display cpr signage, have compliant fencing and locks etc. You can easily spend thousands of dollars to legally use your $10 pool.

      • +1

        Spend $2000 + $10 or, spend $35,000?

OP posted a bargain, isn’t that what counts?

    • +1

Remember it must have pool fencing.

Only in Australia, the nanny country.

It's just a safety requirement and it's an initiative that's demonstrably saved young lives. Are you against seatbelt laws too?

        • -8

What? There are seatbelt laws, which state?

        • +1

I am, for people who don't own cars.

        • It's just a safety requirement and it's an initiative that's demonstrably saved young lives. Are you against seatbelt laws too?

I'm against laws that are stupid.

If you have young children pool fences make sense but they are only part of the solution as they are easily bypassed. Too many irresponsible parents believe a pool fence makes the pool safe and remove the bed to for supervision.

What about people that live on canals being forced to install pool fences?

What about the family at Toowoomba that lost two children in two different years when they walked past the fenced pool and into the unfenced dam?

The new laws are totally over the top, have cost billions and have made no difference to the death rates.

Won't the épées pop it? Stick to blunt pool ponies.

    • Yeah we still have this pool ($15 when we got it) sitting in its box since we found about the laws later. 30K fine in NSW.

They do a helicopter run every now and then for the fines.

Anyone want our free pool? To take $15 off your council fencing inspections?

      • What are the dimensions on the box? I can't see the details in the photo from OP.

AFAIK in NSW if it's an inflatable pool under 300mm in height then it doesn't need a fence.

For large inflatable pools of 300mm or more in height consult your council on fencing requirements, child-resistant barriers and a warning sign display.

        https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/housing-and-property/buil…

Queensland's requirements are a bit more convoluted.

Queensland's pool safety laws don’t apply to portable pools and spas that meet all of the below criteria:

You can't fill it with more than 300mm of water.
It has a maximum volume of 2,000L.
        It has no filtration system.

        https://www.qld.gov.au/law/your-rights/legal-and-property-ri…

So depending on the other dimensions you could just disconnect the filter and it would be compliant. Dumb.

TL;DR: Just check your local laws and see if it complies.

        • You would need a device to make sure it couldn't be filled with more than 300mm of water, probably wouldn't be too hard to knock something up to prevent it from getting higher than that though.

In vic all pools n spas have to be register have a fenc and be inspected anuything that holds more then 30 cm of water

    • +16

I've got a vase that holds more than 30cm of water.

You should probably just take yourself to jail now before the police take you there in cuffs

    • We got rid of our pool fence years ago. Funny story - as our dog got older, he started to fall into the pool all the time (mostly at night) and couldn't get out. We had to put sandbags around the pool to stop him falling in.

      • +7

Err, but how is this a funny story?

        • The only scenario I can think of is the pool was either empty or it was so shallow that the dog could stand. If the dog couldn't get out there is no way it could doggie paddle all night whilst waiting for the owners to help it out.

          • -1

@Lets Make Sandwiches: Who said anything about all night? As soon as it fell into the pool, the loud splash could be heard and we got it out, obviously. We never kept the dog outside while we were sleeping, as it was an indoor dog.

        • +2

How can a dog falling into a pool due to poor eyesight not be funny?

    • Yeah I was dobbed in by a neighbour the day after setting up a new inflatable pool. Council guy gave me to the end of the day to have it emptied.

These are cheap and a good deal so take my comment in gest.

I just love how they put pictures of beautiful people on the cover, perfectly spaced out and looking like they're having a great time. The reality is that they're freezing because there's no heating and they can't even move around to keep warm cos the pool is too small.

These pools are essentially pools for bogans. And they're inherently unsafe.

    • I got this pool for Aus day couple of years ago. It is actually quite spacious for a bunch of adults which surprised me as they usually rescale the images. What I didn’t realise was that the “self supporting” feature only works once it full of water in it. You can’t get away with a wading pool or even half full and since it is quite large, it definitely was not a great purchase if you intend to only whip out for a day or so.

  • +4

I wonder if the anova sous vide machine would be enough to keep it warm.

Think outside the square people! an indoor pool requires none of this regulation. It is called a bath.

So if you are renting, you can have a pool (or should I say bath) in your loungroom (loungebathroom), your spare bedroom (spare bedbathroom) or take it to the poolroom (poolbathroom)

    • Is it true? I can put one into the dungeon!

  • Went in this morning and had already sold out

    • Thanks for the info

  • If anyone wants to buy mine they can. Vic, Geelong. Used once before council visited.
    Half price.

  • Maybe this is more suitable less than 30cm deep. No fence?
