Good Price. If only my V6 Absolute is dead, I would have pulled the trigger.

  • +6

Had to look at what the V10 Dok is. For anyone interested - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6wRkEIN1Io

Seems a bit of a pain that you have to take the barrel off and mount them on the dock separately. Id much prefer the wall dock where you just slide it in or out and get vacuuming without having to assemble or disassemble it first.

Having said that its free and i have been waiting for a V10 deal even if this is $50 more then they previously had it on sale.

    • +2

You can still use the included wall mount that comes with the V10 and sell the dok.

  • +4

Dyson V8 has HEPA filtration, but not V10, what gives?

    • +1

My guess is that since all the HEPA does is trap smaller particles that may go back into the air that the V10 and V11 with their different design/suction does a good job of catching them without the need for extra filters. That is a guess of course but im sure somewhere on uncle Google it will say.

      • +2

HEPA filters exist because it's really hard to trap small particles any other way.

      • +1

Who the hell would neg a guess? man some of the people on this forum need to get a life lol

        • +1

If your guess is wrong they might

    • +2

      https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/article/dyson-cyclone-v1…
According to this, it does have HEPA Filtration?

"Get the job done, the *Cyclone V10 can hold 40% more debris in the waste bin compared to the Dyson V8 Animal cord-free stick. Breathe easy, Dyson has outfitted the V10 with a HEPA filter capable of extracting 99.97% of fine particles from the exhausted air. HEPA filtration ensures that the air leaving the vacuum is cleaner than the air that you breathe. To achieve this, Dyson pressure sealed the V10 enclosure so that no micro-particles escape while the vacuum is operating."

    • Yea also keen to know how a more expensive model loses out on this

  • compare to v11,what's the difference? does it worth to pay more?

    • V11 is 20% more powerful

      • +1

        Haha I clicked on it

      • I couldn't not click on it!

    • I don't think that the small amount of difference between them justifies the extra cost. Personally, I think the V10 is peak stickvac, at least in terms of features. I reckon the future will bring more-powerful motors, higher-capacity batteries, but there's not much left to fix. If I could choose the one thing to focus on for the next generation, it would be improving the ergonomics of the grip: it could do with a rubber coating or something else to make it a bit more comfortable to use. But really, my V10 has turned a chore into a joy (as ridiculous as that sounds)…

  • Hi OP, thanks for posting the deal, I appreaciate your assitance.

I just spoke to someone at work, they told me to try this vacuum

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-power-x-change-18v-wet-and…

Do you think it sucks more than the V10?

    Thank you

    • Ozito is a budget brand. You get what you pay for.

      • +2

Not necessarily. I have to Dyson v8 absolute and also a Miele bagged vacuum. Night and day difference. The only thing the v8 is good for is a quick sweep of something that has spilled. It is no good on carpet either. I'm very unhappy with my dyson and I've been using it for a year.

        • +1

I had both. The Miele gave me back pain. Carrying it from GF to 1F was an exercise by itself. Got the V6 then V8 and now V10 and never looked back

          • +6

@OzBLover: If carrying 6kg up stairs once a week gave you back problems you need to learn how to carry things.

And also look at what else damaged your back.

            • @spaceflight: It's 2 to 3 times a week actually. But I tend to vaccum less when i had to use the Miele. Also cleaning the stair case is much easier with the Dyson

You are right that I damaged my back due to weight lifting. I guess my point is it is heavy. My C3 was about 8kg from memory

          • @OzBLover: My kmart vacuum kills my back as well, so bloody heavy and stumble to move around.

        • +5

Different uses. Dyson is great for casual cleaning. The concept of Sunday cleaning days is gone, no more tedious lugging out the vacuum cleaner and going around each room meticulously cleaning the all. Now you just vacuum every day. Zpare 2mintutes, give the room a vacuum. Its changed my habit and mentality about floor cleaning. And anyone who successfully keeps a clean house would know that cleaning is a constant habit you do with every action in the house. A handheld vacuum cleaner allows you to apply that to your floors too.

        • Miele is pretty good brand and does pretty good job. Ozito is generic brand from Bunnings, and yeah, below average

    • oh its actually cordless too!

  • Recently purchased the V11 Absolute for $799 (no dock though) - great vac!

    • +1

      From where?

      • +2

Guessing same as me, from eBay Plus weekend sale.

  • +1

Compared to Xiaomi Dreame at 280 bucks….

    • Never used a Dyson, but very happy with the Dreame so far.

      • Same here

        • +1

I’m tempted to save a bit and do this

          Do they compare?

And I mean can I convince the wife that this is better (happy wife = clean house)

          • @random101: What is "better" in your wife's opinion?

There are people judge on performance, price, brand, and/or combination of all.

          • @random101: Search ozbargain, I saw somewhere that Dreamie compares to Dyson V8 or V9, can't remember now.
            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/453183

To me I can't justify spending more than 300-400 bucks on a vacuum cleaner. It's supposed to clean well, not be a spacecraft.
One thing for sure - Dreame has pretty good suction power, even in medium setting. No more dog hair everywhere.
This is without the motorised head.

    • +1

I have both. V11 is miles better and the attachments are too

    • Where?

  • +1

I love my Dyson so much. I love vacuuming. Love the clean. No regrets.

    • +4

Same here. Sucking is good, wife loves it.

  • Dyson the Apple of vacuums. Quite overpriced for what you get. Miele all the way!

    • +5

      Miele isn't overpriced also? 🤔

    • +3

You can't compare Miele to Dyson. Two different type of vacuums.
For cordless, Dyson is way to go.
For performance Miele is better, but Dyson wins in a convenient factor.

  • Are they worth $799

    Seem to be cheap here?

    https://www.tobydealsau.com/en_AU/product/dyson-cyclone-v10-…

    • Thats just the motorhead version

  • -1

Ya'll need to do yourselves a favour and grab a kmart vacuum.

  • Time for a price protection claim. :)

EDIT: Actually, no. This was how much I paid.

I mistook it for the $749 deal from Dyson direct.

Still waiting for that price to return.

    • dammit just bought one. I should wait a bit longer.

      • +1

I bought one months ago, after the $749 price, but with the expectation that the $749 price will return at some point, and I can claim back the $50 from Lattitude. I don't wait for the lowest price every anymore.

        • do you need to pay anything for claim money back from Lattitude? As I know my credit card company require me pay first then claim. so not worth it.

          • @peanutbutter123: The premium is 1% of your outstanding balance at the time your statement is generated (ie not due or received), capped at $50. So if you pay it off beforehand, no charge. No excess either.

  • I have an old vacuum cleaner i bought from a garage sale for $2.
Seems to do the job just fine.
    Is this 400 times better?

    • +2

What is the retail price of your garage sale item?

  • -1

Save your money and buy a better vacuum four less.

The V10 claims 150 air watts in maximum mode.
A Miele Complete C3 Brilliant does 250 air watts
A Dyson Cinetic is 230 air watts

So that's 60% less suction power than a corded model.

But the rated air watts are in Maximum mode (which a corded model always does)
In standard mode the V10 does 15.8 air watts (A V6 and V8 has 28 airwatts)
Thats 94% less suction than a corded model on the standard mode.

In maximum mode the V10 lasts 5-6 minutes.

If you want the 60 minutes of use you are going to be cleaning with only 10% of the power of a corded unit and no motorised tools.
If you use motorised tools which you need to because of the low suction power the battery life is 35 minutes in standard mode.

And that is with a brand new battery.
We know that battery life will degrade over time so those minutes will get shorter each use

    • +1

Keep in mind these units use suction in addition to their rotational motor head to get the job done and don't just rely on pure suction power. This doesn't help anyone trying to clean out a sliding door track etc - they just don't have the grunt for these tasks.

      • Keep in mind these units use suction in addition to their rotational motor head to get the job done and don't just rely on pure suction power.

So does a good vacuum like the Miele C3 which I compared to.

    • +3

Horses for courses. We have the C3 and a Xiaomi Dreame. The convenience of the cordless means it gets used daily. We'd previously been lucky to pull the corded C3 out monthly.

    • +2

But this is cordless. End of story.

      • +2

        So?

I'd rather something that actually works

        • +3

I got both but I hardly use the Miele because cordless is very convenient.

    • Correction: according to this (https://vacuum-cleaner-advisor.com/Dyson-Vacuums/dyson-v10-r…), 15.8 air watts is for the lowest power mode. In the medium power mode (which is used most of the time) it is actually 33.8 air watts.

      • -2

        Correction: according to this https://vacuum-cleaner-advisor.com/Dyson-Vacuums/dyson-v10-r…

That's where I got the value from and I used their terminology so standard is 15.8 air watts.

        In the medium power mode

The V10 is the only vacuum with medium mode

(which is used most of the time)

        How do you know?
It isn't the setting Dyson advertises the 60 minutes of battery time from

But it is still a lot less than a good corded vacuum.

        • +1

But it is still a lot less than a good corded vacuum.

But can you use your coded during a blackout? Game over.

          • @lostn: Yes I can plug it into my generator.

Does your V10 have a light so you can see what you are vacuuming?
            I will also have lights.

    • Everyone who sells battery operated electronics is going to massage the figures to make it look good.

If you don't mind cords, corded will outperform it for sure.

This is mainly intended for small rooms or spot cleans. It won't compete in performance with a corded vac.

      • It won't compete in performance with a corded vac.

It does if you are Dyson.
        They claim "full-size suction power"

        • +1

That's technically true. They just didn't mention how long for.

          • @lostn: No it's not

The V10 claims 150 air watts in maximum mode.
A Miele Complete C3 Brilliant does 250 air watts
A Dyson Cinetic is 230 air watts

60% less suction power is not full-size power.

            • +3

@spaceflight: They weren't comparing it to the best of the best full-size vac. They just picked any random one that happens to be full-size.

You gotta be able to understand marketing when you see it.

    • -1

I completely agree with you. Just bought mysefl a Dyson big ball instead of those Vx vacuum. It suck way better than the V8 my brother have. He had it for about 1.5 years and now the battery start to play up, he can not even use it for 5 mins now, soon it will be a piece of Junk. Such gabage which cost a lot more than a a cord vacuum

    • Point taken but it's fine for any hard floors (a bit crap around door frames unless you change attachments).
And corded is such a PITA. If you have very young kids and only a corded you'll never win

  • +1

I use a commercial vacuum cleaner with paper bags, the Polivac Wombat, 45.5L/per second(Converts to 4559 airwatts). It pulls so hard it lifts the carpet, I use an electric power head the plugs into it, once a month pet hair stands no chance.
I use it with a 45cm floor tool and it cuts down how many passes you need to do.
    Suction is Amazeballs
    Cost me around $460 bucks

    • +2

      Cool story

      • +3

Thanks detective.. Who is your daddy and what does he do?

        • Is this one of those things you wear like a backpack as you go?

          • @lostn: Nah the Wombat I bought is the pull along, they also make one called the Koala-that's a backpack Vac.

            • +1

@walahbro: Do they make a Kangaroo that kicks you in the balls if you're not doing a good job?

        • And do you really love your car?

    • Polivac Wombat, 45.5L/per second(Converts to 4559 airwatts).

      No it doesn't.

Airwatts isn't a conversion. It is a calculation.

      (Air Flow * Vacuum)/8.5

  • Very tempting, xiaomi sells carpet head separately, pretty much 400, or this one.

  • Bought. Was going to get a Xiaomi but that Dok is giving me futuristic realness.

  • Just to hijack this thread, anyone know the cheapest price for the Miele C3 cat & dog? I've seen it in the $3xx price range before, but currently cheapest I can find is $499 at a retail store.

  • If you have Prime, better to get the v11 I reckon. You get ~$50 back from cashback too.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Dyson-Cord-Free-Vacuum-Internation…

    • what is the prime deal? showing up as $1439.69 for me.. or has it expired?

      • Looks like they removed the v11 animal listing. It was for $825 minus cashback. It comes back every now and then. Just keep looking out for it.

    • This is the V10 Absolute+. Top model of the V10 range. I'd prefer top of the range on older model than bottom range on newer. Gives them more time to iron out the little kinks.

  • Just ordered the LG cordzero multi2x from eBay from a sale. Any reviews on that?

    • +1

I have A9Master2X. It cleans quite well and is very quiet for the level of performance. My biggest gripe with it is that the battery discharges quite rapidly even when not in use. After a few weeks (I only use it for spot cleans once every few weeks) switched off, the battery is down to half or less and not enough to do what I need.

You are meant to leave it plugged in and trickle charging but I don't like doing that. If you use it regularly, it shouldn't be a problem.
