  • I know they sold out of this initially and so they have already made reprints / editions with minor fixes in them - do we know what edition this is?

    • Not too sure to be honest. For the price I am willing to give it a go.

    • The fixes are pretty minor, and it was only in the pre-orders, so unlikely to effect this.

Got this about 3 weeks ago from "Presents of Mind" in Fairfield Gardens (Brisbane). Apart from the US-centric bird species, this is a seriously immersive game. Hint - some good YT primers on how to get going.

  • I'd avoid paying that much for Terraforming Mars, but the other prices are reasonable if you're placing a big order to negate the shipping.

Good prices on Welcome To…, Railroad Ink, Heart of Crown, Codenames Duet, Lost Cities and Invaders from Afar for those who picked up Scythe the other day.

    • That's reasonably cheap for tfm…

Nah, not even the cheapest price currently available, let alone of all time.

I paid $70 for my copy and considering the infamous quality (or lack thereof) of the components I wouldn't want to pay much more than that.

Still a good game, don't get me wrong - but $90 is entering Gaia Project or A Feast for Odin type money and you get way more for your money there IMO.

I ordered this back in Feb and it was the 3rd edition I think and I got it for $79 so this is an awesome price. It is one of my favorite games I play now.

In 30 words or less is anyone bothered enough to give me a brief summary of this game? I am feeling particularly lazy today.

    • +1

it's a bird-themed card-based tableau/engine builder. Play cards in order to play more cards, more easily in order to score the most points. Plays pretty fast. Very high production values.

      • Thanks for the summary, it sounds a lot like dominion.

        • +1

In a lot of ways they are reasonably similar, but they actually play quite differently all things considered.

        • +1

Nothing like Dominion, more like Terraforming Mars but quicker and a little easier.

If you're family oriented, wait for an Australian species edition.

You are bird enthusiasts—researchers, bird watchers, ornithologists, and collectors—seeking to discover and attract the best birds to your network of wildlife preserves. Each bird extends a chain of powerful combinations in one of your habitats (actions). These habitats focus on several key aspects of growth:

Gain food tokens via custom dice in a birdfeeder dice tower
Lay eggs using egg miniatures in a variety of colors
Draw from hundreds of unique bird cards and play them
The winner is the player with the most points after 4 rounds.

If you enjoy Terraforming Mars and Gizmos, we think this game will take flight at your table.

Going to grab Wingspan. FYI still worth checking their ebay page as for example the Gloomhaven Foam insert is discounted more on ebay plus you can use the 5% off code .. and flybuys points linked too if you do that via ebay.

Wingspan won Kennerspiel des Jahres this year while Just One won Spiel des Jahres. Difference is that Kennerspiel is for light-medium level games as opposed to light family games.

That being said, Wingspan has fantastic production quality and there is a cute little bird-feeder dice tower.

  • Want to buy wingspan
However watched a couple of videos with the kids and they were not excited (8, 10)
(Dice tower and how to play)

This game is ranked #1 among family games on BGG, and it will probably play better than those videos depict.
Could anyone point me to videos that will actually make it fun for kids?

    • I haven't watched any, but usually Rodney sells games pretty well as it's just an explanation.
