Lord of The Rings Trilogy: Extended Blu-Ray ~ $72.50 Delivered

90

Both amazon stores have pretty good pre order prices for the extended trilogy on blu ray.
Amazon US $75.53 delivered

Amazon UK $72.50 delivered

The only aussie store I checked was JB hifi and they were selling it for $119

The set is released on 28/06/11 (australian/usa release) and obviously if you want to upgrade your postage, you will get it quicker.

IMPORTANT: From doing a quick search, I believe the blu ray discs are region free, but all the other content (which come on normal dvd btw) are region locked to either region 1/us, or region 2/uk, so you may want to take that into account if you play your blu rays through your ps3.

The link in the post is to Amazon UK as its slightly cheaper

Mod: Added price to title

UK is the right region for AUS, buy from Amazon UK.

For blu-ray, but the UK are in a different regions for DVD are they not? I think Tai_Shiar means that the "other content" (extra features) are on DVD, and may not play on a DVD-region-locked player.

        • yeah, I cant be sure about the standard dvd's, ive put a uk dvd in my ps3 and it wouldnt play, but ive had the friends dvd set work, so just letting people know before I get negged lol

        • edited…. already answered below

  • Region 2 is same as Aus, correct me if I'm wrong :) ps3 isn't region free for dvd's? that's slack. lol

    • Yes, for blu-rays we are in region 2, as is the UK. For dvd's we are in region 4, and the UK in region 1 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code)

Actually, both UK and AUS Blu-ray are Region B.

AUS DVD is Region 4, and UK is Region 2. US is Region 1.

If only the bloody PS3 would play all DVD regions… I don't mind being "locked" in to Region B for Blu-ray, but DVDs? C'mon!

      • Aus & UK are Zone B for Blu-ray, US is Zone A.

UK is region 2 for DVD, US is region 1 and Aus is region 4.

Many UK DVD's are both region 2&4 and will work in Aus.

Of course if the discs are region/zone free the above is irrelevant.

Edit: beaten by quarrymaster while I was distracted.

  • hope this clarifies any confusion about the content on dvds

    http://regionfreemovies.com/bluray/Lord_Of_The_Rings_Trilogy…

It's plain dumb, but whatever: "Note: the six BD-50 discs in this release are Region Free. The nine supplemental DVDs are Region 1 locked." http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Lord-of-the-Rings-The-Moti… So my fellow European customers, we will be able to play the movies on our PS3s, but not the extras :D I wouldn't have minded the nice upscaling…

  • Bummer about the DVD region. Although I'm unlikely to ever watch the bonus content.

    • That's what computers are for if it's that important.. personally can't remember spending too much time watching the extras.. I buy it for the movies.. anything extra is just nice.

      • Except the region of your computer DVD drive locks after certain number of region changes (around 6). You are better off just buying a $30 DVD player that is either region free or can be unlocked.

  • This is what i've been waiting for…. just not at this price!!!

  • The stupid blue Blu-ray banner on the top kinda destroys the otherwise rather pretty box. Thumbs up for Amazon.

  • region coding you &%#@!!! Wish the PS3 was region free…

  • Price now down to £48.00..

  • I thought Sony got slapped by the Australian Federal Court and ordered not to utilise Region code locks in their merchandise!?

Don't forget VAT gets removed from Amazon UK prices.

At the current price of £48.00
The total we pay is £40.00
    Converted on Amazon = AU$63.24
