Hi,
As the title suggests, I am looking for a deal on a Nintendo Switch. I know I am probably SOL at this point, and should have gotten one during the Prime Day sales, but I only recently got a job and couldn't justify the cost at the time, so I am now wondering if anyone has seen any deals around?
Nintendo Switch

Don’t know about any deals but make sure you get one of the new models coming out at the moment (all red box). Much better battery life
What do you think is a reasonable price for a second-hand Switch unit in great condition?
Nintendo and EBGames sell refurbished Switches (second hand in guaranteed great condition) for ~375AUD, so I would expect one sold informally to go for ~330-360, and that seems to be the go on ebay.
But brand new ones sometimes go for those prices during sales, so I would be hesitant myself.
To add to your great reply meeowth, I'd suggest that due to some of the issues that some people are reporting with their joy-cons needing repair (the joy-sticks drifting, I think being one of the major issues) it might be best to purchase new, if only so that in the event that the joy-cons do need repair they can be repaired by Nintendo for free, rather than potentially needing to source parts if the unit is second hand.
Both informative replies, I asked the question as I am trying to convince myself if I can sell my current rarely used Nintendo Switch it's worth buying the new version that I will then also rarely use.
First world problems.
Don't know of any deals at the moment but there's two new versions of the Switch that have been announced a standard one with an improved battery and slightly better chip and then a portable only version Switch Lite thats got a bit of a better battery and built in joycons but doesn't go into a dock
The refreshed model may also have a nicer display:

Online tests have shown that the new version of the Switch will have:
- a slightly brighter and warmer display,
- won't overheat as quickly,
- different joy-stick design (time will tell on how this affects the issues reported previously),
- 30% better battery life (which is also superior to the improved battery in the Switch-lite).There is a faster processor in the new version, but it's been clocked to perform at the exact same speed as the original, so no real-time loading time improvements… but this may be why it runs cooler.
Hey mate, I'm also on the same boat.
Catch of the Day currently has the switch for $369. Not sure if this is the old or new model. There is also a 20% off special on $50 Catch gift cards. You could use 5 gift cards and the switch would be $319. This is the deal I'm hoping to get soon! (it has a pic of the old box, but the battery specs says it's 6 hours… so I'm puzzled)
Hope that helps! :)
I refer you to this link for the gift cards: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/479315
The catch ones seems to be model 99200. The new model seems to be 99211. Could be wrong, but that is from a quick google
I think you're right. Dammm… that sucks :/
Don't worry, there wasn't any during the latest prime day sales. If anything, it was very ordinary in my books however I did buy a few Switch Games in anticipation of getting a Console.
As to any bargains, at the moment there are not really any as they are all around the $399.
You could try second hand as there are bargains there - just keep an eye out as they are always popping up:
Me - I got one 3 months old with 2 games, a case, screen protector, all accessories in perfect condition - $325 - seller was studying and wasn't using it.
Friend - They got one 7 months old with 6 games, a case, , all accessories in great condition - $400
