Bring more Evangelion stuff in guys! Hoping the Netflix release and new movie will hype up the franchise over here a bit more!

Oh and initial d merch :( but I know that stuff is impossible.

    • I watched the Evangelion TV series on Netflix recently and was pretty underwhelmed with the lack of context around the storyline, do the movies help clarify questions that are left unanswered in the show?

In contrast, Gundam Unicorn was amazing, quickly became my favorite anime I have ever watched.

Feeling underwhelmed is pretty common. It doesn't help that it's overhyped. Like I still think it's a great anime. But one of the things that made it so interesting at the time when it was released was the questions it didn't answer for you. Call them plot holes if you want, but they provided very lengthy conversations at school about your interpretation of what is happening.

It's something you cannot replicate watching by yourself on Netflix. It also isn't as special because it isn't new. It's been analysed to death already. I don't think it's really possible to experience it again like people did in the 90s.

The movies do explain more, but if you had trouble with the TV series… End of Evangelion is a doozy. You just have to try to get meaning from it yourself. Otherwise it'll be underwhelming if you just don't care enough.

Anyway that's my thoughts on it.

The movies like the end of evangelion only sorta 'end' the story, but can still leave you with question's(only if you really get stuck into the whole background of the series).

The new rebuild movie a.k.a Evangelion 1.0,2.0,3.0 and the last unreleased version are more tailored to a cinematic experience and slightly less 'quiet' moments(more faster pace and action). These movies are made years after the original tv series (1995 tv series, rebuild 2007- )and are a retelling of the story with new elements added. The new movies have greatly enhanced visual with the CGI added. Here is a example clip from 2.22. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPkyBDNfyQc <— Possible spoiler but its just a Angel fight….
