You need to pay for your own flights to get to Greenland which are super expensive..

  It is only super expensive if you try to book direct flights. going via Denmark/Iceland and/or combining it with the ferry service you can enjoy a nice few days of relaxing travel extending your trip and arrive there cheaper than direct flights. If I won would definitely be adding a couple of weeks on and taking a more relaxed/roundabout way of getting there.
