IKEA 20W Energy Saver Bulb Only $1.95 (Screw Cap)

220

Saw this 3 weeks ago in IKEA Perth. Only available for screw cap (E27 or 27mm) and not bayonet mount (pin head.. if you know what I mean).

Went today and there are still plenty of stocks. Not sure how good they are but hey… you can get 75cent incandescent bulbs but 20W Energy Saver for less than $2 plus the electricity cost you save… what can you complain.

Not sure when the sales end but it could be the end of June.

and not bayonet mount (pin head.. if you know what I mean).

    Like this?

  • They also had 3-packs of less powerful CFLs for similar price. ES also.

    2-packs of 6-way power boards for $7.50.

Would have been helpful to know which particular type (shape) of bulb it was, rather than a picture of the price ticket (which isn't really necessary, we'd all have believed you anyway).

The Ikea CLF lamps are made by Megaman, a well respected brand. But they are a lower quality than the normal Megaman lamps, with a shorter rated life.

  • Only buy good CCFL lamps. Cheap ones rarely meet their rated life and generally pop out very quickly. CCFLs are pretty sensitive to the voltage input and the on/off cycles. Only bulbs that last in my house are the branded ones like Phillips. Doesn't help that the voltage is actually 250v in my house rather than the conventional 230/240v

  • I'm not a pin head. YOU'RE a pin head.

  • Sorry, don't mean anyone as pin-head. The bayonet mount is referred to as pin-head cos of the 2pins at the side ;-)

  • On the topic of CFL. I have been using the aldi ones for a while now and they have all been excellent. Not a single one blown, nice warm light. They were only $5 for a twin pack from memory.
