Just grabbed this on impulse to round out smart speaker collection - looks to be in-line with best prices recently for new stock. Solid reviews online and meant to slot in between Google Home and Max in terms of output.

It's not about volume. The Google Home is quite loud, but sound quality sucks at all volume levels. It is muddled and lacks well-defined bass and any kind of trebble.
The JBL Link 300 has crystal clear sound, powerful but not muddled bass, and plenty of volume (without distortion). The Link 500 uses the same drivers, just more of them.
My only gripe with the 300 is that he buttons are seriously hard to push, making it hard to change volume in a hurry, and the microphone not sensitive enough while it is playing music.
