561
WOW20K

Woolworths Home Insurance
• 20,000 bonus points* on new policies (worth $100)

Just make sure to enter your Rewards card number and promo code WOW20K when you buy online.

I have used this code numerous times. Points do come in 40-45 business days AFTER receiving first payment (choose monthly, it works). So be patient. Also could be targeted, not sure, but i surely didn't receive a promotional email within the last 27 days and everything processed fine.

Just choose contents only, do the min $20,000 contents coverage, maximum excess. And most importantly, choose to pay by the month. Soon as 20k points hit account, call up and cancel policy.

T's & C's
* Offer applies to new policies only before 11:59pm 27 days after you receive your email and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. To receive the offer you must be a Woolworths Rewards member (excludes Tasmanian residents) and enter your Woolworths Rewards card number plus the promo code WOW20K at time of purchasing the policy. Woolworths Rewards bonus points will be loaded within 45 days of the first premium being paid in full. Points will not be backdated. Redemption of Woolworths Rewards is subject to the Woolworths Rewards Terms and Conditions available at woolworthsrewards.com.au

  • And how much do you pay for a month doing that?

    • +2

      mine was about $15

      • Pretty good, and you can cancel before 3rd months charge hits?

Edit: quick quote for me was 18.34

        • +2

Cancel soon as points hit account which is usually half way thru second month so gotta keep on the ball with points coming in and canceling before 3rd month kixks in

          • +2

            @kerim86: I can't seem to get my quote down below $49 a month…

Edit - OK i'm guessing $15 is Contents only. But doesn't the T&C require HOME & CONTENT?

            • @directflight: Yep.. would be good to get clarification on needing to be home & contents. It does state that.
(Also for the poster you could also add it being approx $150-200 in Qantas points if used for flights etc).

              • @obavatar: I didn't go ahead with it. Didn't look worth the hassle.

                • @directflight: Fair enough! I respect that. We're pretty spoilt here on Ozbargain haha!
If it helps, it was quick and easy to sign up, I think I paid about $15pm but unfortunately had to wait 2 months to get the points so 2 lots of $15 charges. But to me it's $165 worth of flights.
(I actually thought it was more but I don't think Qantas do bonus promotions from Woolworths as often as Velocity type bonus transfers from flybuys).
So a net gain of ~$130 for 0 effort & what maybe 1/4 of an hour.

                  • @obavatar: Was it any hassle cancelling the policy?

I was charged my second months premium just a couple days ago. Just noticed extra $100 Woolworths Dollars in my account now.

                    Thanks again OP

  • When does this expire?

    • Forever lol or until they fix the loophole 😂

      • I wonder if it's possible cancelling current policy and sign up again to get points since I'm already with them.

        • +2

Im pretty sure its new policy on that particular property, and not customer. Ive had couple at the same time and points came thru. Insure your neighbours house too 😂😂😂

    • 26th October 2020

  • Tempting. So i can keep my existing policy and take this as an additional policy till I get the points?

OP, might want to adjust the title as you have mentioned there is no need for both a home and contents policy.

  • +1

Apparently there’s one for pets as well. Can’t seem to find if there’s a promo code that’s needed.

    • +1

When you get to the end it seems to throw up the offer of a $100 gift card to add a series of other policies … investment property, vehicle and pet insurance were the ones it showed to me. Didn’t look at any for prices though.

    • it should PET20K

      • Does this mean that we can get 20k for each policy?

  • +1

Make sure you max out the excess to $1000 to reduce the monthly premium

  • +1

Anyone knows if there will be any cost to cancel the policy? ie cancellation fee/admin fee/processing fee etc?

    • +1

Ive cancelled couple already after receiving points and no fees

      • Hi mate how long do the points take to credit and did you take out policies for the same house or for a fee houses?

  • equals to 10 x $10 off. that's tempting

  • Can I get clarification on whether it's definitely only contents needed please?

    • +1

At the very end of the application process, it'll tell you how much premium you have to pay & for me (contents only) it also showed me that I'll get 20k points.

You will have an option to change things, like the excess, to reduce your premium before accepting it.

      • Nice. Thanks viklance

      • Thanks for the info. Gave me more confidence to go ahead.

  • We'd like to thank you for requesting a quote with Woolworths Insurance. Please call us on 1300 659 418 as we require a bit more information.

not easy to gain the points I guess….

  • So can you get the points for just content?

    • Apparently so. See viklance's comments above ^^

  • +1

Hi all, please note, these are WOOLWORTHS REWARDS POINTS….not QFF Points. They will convert to QFF points if you chose that option, but won't be the full 20k

2,000 Woolworths points = $10 in Woolworths credit or 870 Qantas Points.

    20k points is $100 (x 870) = 8,700 QFF points.

    Still decent, but not 20k

    • +1

      That's literally what it says

      • Cool

    • It is now 2000 = 1000 Qantas points

  • +2

Got my 20k reward points. Now to cancel my policy.

I thought I'd do some research about cancelling the policy, and then I discovered this provision in the PDS:

"You may cancel your policy at any time by contacting us. We may charge you the cancellation fee specified in the Certificate of Insurance to cover the administration costs if you cancel after your cooling off period."

And then I checked my Certificate of Insurance (sent by email) and it says:

"Should you decide to cancel after the cooling off period we will deduct a $30 fee to cover reasonable administration expenses."

So, if they do actually enforce the cancellation fee, then the 'net profit' from this might wind up to be closer to $30 cash & not $60. :-/

    • Let us know how you go. I have to cancel my policy too. Can it be done over live chat or do you have to call up?

    • When did you end up signing up? I still haven't got mine yet!

      • +1

I received my points 3 days after my second payment was taken .

    • When is the cooling off period and how long before you get your points? Was there an email that was sent?

  • Cancelled my policy through the live chat feature. Was rather painless and no mention of any cancellation fee.

    • Which live chat you referring too? Couldn’t find one. Bette than calling up

      • When I logged into my account a chat box popped up. Might only be an option during business hours.

  • WOW20K is still active for me. You also get 30% discount off the price, instead of the 25% currently on offer, as the quoted price was about 5% less with the code.

  • any reviews of woolworths home and contents insurance? If i were to switch and pay for 1 year in advance

  • Did anyone receive their Qantas points yet?

    • Nevermind, it was for Woolworths points and yes I received them just after 30 days. Thanks OP.

  • Thanks OP. Was already with them and renewal was coming up so cancelled that policy and signed up the day after that expired and got the 20k points + cheaper premium than their renewal. Was always going to stick with them as they were the cheapest quote. You beaut!

  • FYI, I got 20k points after 53 days since first payment was taken. I was going to contact them if not credited.

  • I was about to buy for a year until I read the terrible reviews!! Https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/woolworths-home-an…

might consider the cancel after the points arrive option still! Thanks for the tips :)

    • Read the recent reviews. People complaining about premium increases after 12 months, trying to claim over phone, slow website, first claim denied etc.

If you know how to deal with budget insurers and read the PDS, you should be fine.

  • I signed up for the carx03 promotion ($100 woolies gift card). Called first time "it should arrive Monday sir", second time "sorry, you were misinformed by the last agent, it will be posted after 45 days", 3rd time @ 60 days (give it one more week and it will arrive). 4th call I cancelled my policy. Will obviously need to report them to get the promotion. They acknowledge I have met the terms and have the offer on my account.. but it's now Dec 1 and they "processed the gift card" on the Nov 5th. But they can't tell me if processed means posted…in summary.. AVOID!

    • This isnt a gift card offer so i think youre on the wrong page

      • Just a heads up to let people know they aren't honouring their previous insurance promotion, so I wouldn't expect to receive the points without a fuss either.

        • I just received 2 lots of 20k points for two different policies.

  • Got my 20k bonus points 63 days after date of purchase (payment), 43 days after policy starts.

    • Just a fyi its 40 working days so sat/sun doesnt count

      • All I know is the call centre confirmed on 2 occasions that the T&Cs had been met and the card 'should have been' sent out on Nov 5…still haven't got it.
Why they dont just issue an egift card is beyond me. Either way, I don't deal with shody businesses. Policy cancelled and I will follow up my card.

        • I think they are a bit slow with the gift cards. Like you, We are waiting on an outstanding $100 gift card, for car insurance that was purchased before my home insurance which I got my points already.

          • @assailantsky: I called up… AGAIN. They said acknowledged that I should have received it by now, and I insisted they email me an egift card instead. They agreed and said it will be received in '4 days'…we are at day 3.

            Bunch of liars..avoid

        • I signed up for car insurance using that carx3 code and just got the $100 gift card in the mail after more than 2 months. Almost completely forgot about it and a surprise xmas gift!

  • +1

I've used them as an insurer for our cars and never had a problem getting the gift card. Even when I've literally resigned up with them and cancelled a previous policy with them and I've still gotten a gift card.

I am looking at them for actual home and contents insurance (to replace my existing insurer) and was interested in any feedback from people looking to use the product rather than just churn for the points offer.

    • Following as well - I gotta renew with them and looking for the points offer again.

  • I signed up 4th Dec 2019, still no points and also don't receive the 10% off once per month on woolworths shop (and yes, I'm subscribed to the promotional emails).
I contacted them, they said for the points to at least wait until 3 March 2020.

  • The offer has been changed to "new Combined Home & Contents policies only".

Offer applies to new Combined Home & Contents policies only before 11:59pm (AEST) 27 days after you received your email and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.

    • just done a quote on contents only and still showing 20k bonus. T&C's on main quote page have not changed yet, so get on it before it does :)

EDIT: i think it has always shown that.

  • Anyone still receive the 10% off monthly shop even after cancelling the policy?!!

  • So strange, I cannot get building and contents insurance if I live in a strata complex!

We are unable to offer you cover at present due to your home you are insuring is under strata title/body corporate more than two units, company title or community title. To find another insurer go to Insurance Council.

    • Oops realised strata titles require just home and contents.

      • +1

Your situation may be unique but FWIW my understanding is that you shouldn't need building/home cover if you're in a strata title complex. The body corporate has its own insurance which covers the building as a whole ( I sit on a body corporate). You should only need contents cover.

Obviously you should confirm this with your body corporate. This is not legal advice etc etc.

  • Has anyone had a good experience through their claims.

  • Sweet, pretty sure it was indicating I would be eligible with just contents insurance. I'm joining for real though as it was a competitive quote. will see in a few months.

  • Cloud anyone confirm if it still works for content only? The final quote page does say "Bonus 20,000 EVERYDAY REWARDS POINTS*".

    • if it does then should still work

  • Got points and only needed to pay for first month then cancelled.

  • Getting the message "Your promotional code is invalid, you can progress without a promotional code OR contact us on 1300 482 451 for assistance. Our call centre hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am to 8:00pm (AEST) and 9am to 5pm (AEST) on Saturday and Sunday (except public holidays)."

Looks like the code is expired
