  • Purchased the Philips Williams F1 (HQ7390) last month at 50% off which I though was a good deal. 60% off is an even better deal for this excellent shaver.

Also Phillips offer 60 day trial on selected shaver models purchased before 31st july 2011
    http://www.promotion.philips.com/au/en/detailpage/8

and $60-$100 trade-in cashback on selected models purchased before 30-06-2011 when trading in any old electric shaver.

Are you able to use it when it's raining or do you have to call the safety razor out?

      • i see what you did there…. :)

    • could you link to any info on the cashback for old models? I can only find the trial offer

      • Its in the catalogue > click through the link above.

$40 trade in on Philips SensoTouch 2D and $60 trade in on Philips SensoTouch 3D Luxury.

  • Oral B toothbrush price has been at that price since April. Cheaper than elsewhere but normal price at Shaver Shop.

    • are you refering to the price of the Vitality Pro White or the Vitality Precision Clean. cuz the Vitality Pro White is normally dearer.

      • You're right, it was PC. Personally I'm a bit skeptical about the effectiveness of the PW brush head.

Always look at amazon.com (replace "phillips" with "norelco") when considering shavers.

The HQ8240 (presumably the US model of the 8250) is available for about $80 AUD delivered.

But the one I have my eye on is the Phillips/Norelco sensotouch RQ1250

    Shaver shop: $429.95 AUD !!!!!!!!
    http://www.shavershop.com.au/products/electric-shavers-2/sen…

Amazon USA delivered to Aus: $165 AUD
    http://www.amazon.com/Philips-1250x-40-SensoTouch-Electric/d…

    Dual voltage charger.

Silly, that would require effort and thought…on the internet

    • I got this one a while back: http://amzn.com/B002N5MHLU
Cuts off 4 day growth without trimming.

    • I didnt know they shipped those to AU but yeah its letting me.

Additionally, some products in the following categories:

automotive, baby, clothing, consumer electronics, health and personal care, home and garden, industrial and scientific, jewelry, pet supplies, shoes, software, sporting goods, tools, toys, video games, and watches

      • They don't. Maybe it's just me they don't like, but neither Amazon US or UK will ship shaving products to Western Australia.

        • It's just you. Just ordered from Amazon to Perth, WA. Not quite $165AUD as shipping is added (~$10).

        • okay that's not cool… going to have to take this up with Amazon

    • Thanks OP and thanks to muzzamo for pointing out the amazon pricing - what a champ!

      • sigh the Amazon pricing is irrelevant since they won't post these products to Australia…

        • Whatchu talkin bout Willis? Must just be a WA thing, I'm in NSW and it allows me to go right up to the very last confirm screen. Ditto for dirtybird above in VIC.

        • Really? That's bizarre. It lets me add it to the basket and then I have to choose the shipping address, which is WA, at which point it informs me that the items can't be delivered to that address. Maybe Amazon doesn't like me?

        • From my experimenting, it depends on the individual product when it comes to Amazon.
You need to look under the Product Details section for:
Shipping: This item is also available for shipping to select countries outside the U.S.
Even that isn't a guarantee, you won't find out until after you put in your delivery address during checkout.
A lot of products have shipping as US only.

There is also an Amazon International Shipping search page which only shows products that will get posted to you. To make it even more complicated, this misses some products that will be sent to Australia.

It's weird, you can find 2 similar products made by the same manufacturer, shipped & sold by Amazon (not marketplace) & one can be delivered & the other can't :(

    • That is bloody awesome.
I have a Speed XL or something bought 5 years ago and its still as good as new. Of course I've replaced blades.
Can't justify throwing something like this away.

  • Need an iPhone app that can place and pickup instore ozbargins, any freebies?

  • Wahl clippers ftw!

    • have to agree with you on that one. those WAHL clippers are the best

  • Is this electric toothbrush good?

    • yes. very. definitely worth the money.

      • Agree. But I would prefer if it didn't have the rubber grip as it's difficult to get rid of stains.

  • BTW for the Ladies, 2 half price bargains: Braun Silk Epil X'elle @ $67.95 and Remington Ceramic Straightner @ $21.95

  • Cheapest 3 head Philips they have is $49.95? Hardly a bargain. I saw the same shaver for $39 at HN during their sale last week.

    • It's still on sale too. Thanks for mentioning :-)

      • Actually I should correct my post - I can't remember if the HN shaver was cordless or not. So it may or may not have been the exact same model. It was definitely a 3 head Philips, though.

        • As it turns out, it's slightly different. The HN version has no trimmer and is corded-only. The Shaver shop version is cordless as well as corded and I think does have the trimmer, so overall the better shaver. Having said that, I barely use the trimmer and almost always use it in the bathroom where there's a power point.

  • Had my 8250 bout 1 year almost, @$200 then. Good shaver, my 2nd Philips. 1st unit never gave up, just upgraded. Blades run @ bout $60, might have 2 check amazon :)
    http://www.wahlglobal.com/united-kingdom/wahl/personal-groom…
Do love this wahl trimmer I also have, amazing battery life! Charge it like once a year…

  • By the way, a word of advice on those buying a shaver - unless you really need cordless, don't bother. Shavers without a battery are lighter and easier to use (IMO). I've had a corded shaver for years now and never once felt the need to use it without it being plugged in.

    • +1

Have to disagree…shaving in the car using the cordless when you are late for work - priceless!!!

      • Lol and when travelling! I hate having to carry yet another charger along with those from all my other gadgets aka ozbargain impulse purchases..

        • You'll still need the charger when travelling unless it's only for a day or two. Those batteries are designed to last only 30 minutes (i.e. about a week), PLUS, and this is the biggie - they usually are less powerful when running on batteries. i.e. when you plug them in, you'll find the blades usually spin at a slightly faster speed, making shaving easier.

        • I have a Philips speed XL, over 5 years old (probably about 6-7?) I use it every day except for weekends and the battery still lasts me around a month (probably more). I never take the charger when travelling and have never had it run out on me.

I am incredibly impressed with it, and would not hesitate to buy one again. It wasn't the cheapest model, so may have a better battery than the cheaper ones, don't know.

      • +2

        Definitely.
I'm using a cordless and the battery lasts me ages.
I can bring it overseas and use it without bringing a charger and I've never had a problem with 1 week trips!

        • Er, yes, but the shaver itself weighs more because it has a battery. So while you save weight by not having to bring a cord, you gain weight from the heavier shaver itself. And not taking a cord on an overseas trip is too risky, I wouldn't do it.

  • Quick poll please: prefer 3 circular head Philips type or block shape Braun type? And why?

I want to fork out a couple hundred on a good electric shaver and unsure which way to swing. I suspect answers may suggest a personal preference thing, but would appreciate your opinions anyway as I value fellow ozbargainite opinions highly :)

    • Hard to say.
I've never had a Braun but it certainly looks like it'll suit some guys very well. Made in Germany.

    • Prefer Braun, easier to work into difficult to reach areas, such as upper lip, near nostrils

      • +1

yeah Im thinking there would be more control with the more 'conventional' shaped braun, especially since I keep a goatee sometimes and I think it might be quite tricky getting shape right with 3 circular heads?

        • Some of the 3 head types do come with a pop up trimmer, same as the Braun style come to think of it. But like you I dunno how much control you would have around the goatee with the three head.

      • Yeah my Philips has a trimmer built in and its great for sideburns.

  • Can someone pls confirm the message chair for $49.95 still available? went to Macquarie Centre today..they told me they sold out

  • +1

They have the basic Philips 3 head shaver for $34.95. If anyone needs replacement heads for their shaver, I recommend buying this shaver just for the heads alone. The heads, on their own, cost $60!

    • Is that the "XL" or whatever with the 3 rings?

      • Nah, they're just the basic HQ55 heads.
