Samsung Note10+ (Unlimited National Calls, 5GB Data) $84.50/Mth (24M) +$80 Cashrewards +Free AKG Headphones @ Woolworths Mobile

150

This is a plan for someone who dont want to buy the phone outright.

As for the rest, it might work out cheaper to get the phone outright and get a Boost/Aldi 12 month pre paid plan.

Was digging around for some decent plans and this seems to be one!

Decent deal on Telstra network.

  • Unlimited National Calls & Messages
  • 5GB Data Per month
  • 10GB data add on every 3 months
  • Free AKG Wireless Headphones
  • NO international calls included

Min Cost works out to be $2028 over 24 months.

Considering the RRP $1699, phone plan for 2 years works out to be $329 for 100GB data/year which is a decent deal. I am aware that Boost provide unlimited international calls which might be good for people who need it.

Note 10 available on the same plan for $75.50.

don’t know why you’d need a phone like this if you only use 5gb pm, best to be patient if you can’t afford the phone much better deals to come within months of release

Of course. As is the same case of paying RRP when you know that the prices are going to go down over the next few months.

Some people prefer to have the latest tech even though they don't use too much data.

      • those paying rrp are factoring in, resale of headphones, $100 eftpos credit & signing up a cheap sim deal with solid inclusions for around $20-$40

        • People who want to get on Aldi/Boost Mobile ($150-$180 per year) would be the target market if they need this phone!

          • You get the headphones which can be resold
          • $80 cashback via CR
          • Paying monthly instead of upfront for the phone
    • Works out to be about 8.33GB per month after the bonus data.

I have WiFi at home, at work and when I visit my parents so use very minimal data when I'm out and about. I have even pre-downloaded Google maps for Melbourne at some point…

5 gig of data. Cmon its 2019 you can do so much better. We live in a connected world of 4K video.

People who want to get on Aldi/Boost Mobile ($150-$180 per year) would be the target market if they need this phone!

Cheapest plan with Optus is $105 with 4GB of data if you want the phone! this plan I have listed is $20.5 cheaper with 5GB data per month and 10GB add every 3 months, which makes it roughly 8GB of data, which is plenty for a lot of people!

Check this deal with 3GB data which was HIGHLY POPULAR!

    • With the 8X bonus 10GB data, the average is 8.33GB.

You don't have to view video in 4K, particularly if the screen itself isn't even 4K.

This is a plan for someone who cant afford to buy the phone outright.

Tbh if someone can't afford to buy a Note 10+ they don't need it.
Nothing that a phone much cheaper can't do. Especially now that there is such a strong range of mid-tier phones.

    • there. fixed that for ya :)

Each to their own! Me, I am extremely happy with my P30 Pro even though I could have considered mid range phone and the Note 10 is not my cup of tea.

      • Moto g fan here. They do a great phone.

    • That argument should extend to financed cars or home loans too?

You can buy a used car, or a cheaper house in a further away area from the city.

Buying a phone on a plan is like getting an interest free loan.

      • Home loans are much, much different.
The value of a new home on a block of land doesn't depreciate in value when it hasn't been sold in a month.

Also, we aren't talking about used vs new. That's a whole different discussion, but used phones are cheaper than new phones.

What you should have compared it to was a new Audi versus a new Subaru.
Both nice cars. One is just a lot more expensive.

          All these points are true.

          But this I disagree with:

Tbh if someone can't afford to buy a Note 10+ they don't need it.

If you work out the math, take the total contract cost, subtract the value of the device at the time you received it which would be launch day and RRP, then what's left is the usage charges. If those charges are acceptable, then it's like getting an interest free loan to repay over 24 months. That will make it affordable to someone who can't buy it outright but can save up over time. Or you could put those funds into generating a tiny bit of interest I suppose.

Most people don't absolutely need the best. You can buy a cheaper one that does the job. But if then you might look at your new phone with resentment, thinking about the one you couldn't afford. Some want a bit of luxury or have standards. If you have specific wants or needs that the cheaper one isn't providing, then you'll have to pay more for it. If it brings you a bit of happiness, why not?

          • @lostn: I get all that, all your points are valid. Although I ask some people who demand the greatest phone why and they might say "I want to load Facebook faster" or some similar nonsense.

Or those that have spend $2000 on a laptop and only use it for Chrome and Word.

I know there's genuine use cases too, and that's all good.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is, do people who can't afford it need what this offers?

            • @pennypincher98: By the truest definition of the word, no one really needs the most expensive phones. The industry is driven by wants and you're right that phone makers like Samsung and Apple have done a great job marketing their products and making you really want them for no real good reason than because it's new and you must have what's latest and greatest.

They also do things like make batteries which have a lifetime of just a few years and are unreplaceable by the user and you have to go to a service center who charges $100+ for it, and then you ask yourself, should I just get a new phone instead? They win either way.

Samsung used to make phones with a removable back cover and a battery replacement could be done by yourself for $10 or less. When they stopped doing that, their defense was, it's metal now instead of plastic. You want metal don't you? Yes you do. It feels more premium and less cheap. And now we've added water resistance. You drop your phone in water all the time don't you? Sometimes you're taking a piss and it falls out of your pocket and into the toilet bowl with your piss. Yuck. Don't lie. I know you've done it before.

Ummm… Where is the "using your phone on the toilet is disgusting" camp?

Also should I be worried about the amount of time you have on your hands haha

  • Samsung A70 for around 1/3rd of the cost
