How to get refunded properly to credit card?

Are you planning on ever using Uber again?

If you are, leave it as credit until your next use.

If you're not, request Uber to refund into your card. If they refuse, ask your bank to do a chargeback. Just keep in mind that Uber may or may not ban your account after the chargeback.

Why don't you contact uber and tell them to refund it back to your account that you paid from? Paypal/CC etc.

    • How to contact them? It automatically gives the credit. Before there used to be a message box i can type like a chat. Help pleaas

Open the uber app and tap it on a credit card terminal, next time you're in a shop.

If uber ban you, use ola or some other wannabe taxi service

I had a driver who stood me up for 23min, drove past the UBER allocated pick up point after I called him in advance to tell him I was already there waiting for pick up. Then drove 10min away from my location and stood stationary there waiting for me to cancel the ride. Then UBER charged me for cancellation fee. Completely unreasonable! What is a legitimate time for cancelling an uber after waiting if you see they are not driving towards you. Mind you I also called the driver several times to find out WTF is going on to which he ignored and went to voicemail. I then ordered an Ola out of sheer frustration of waiting 23min in the cold and requested refund of fee via UBER app.

Uber drivers playing chicken with riders to earn a cancellation fee has become an epidemic unfortunately.

I had this happen. Driver drove past our location without stopping then got lost. He wanted me to cancel. I said I’m not cancelling for a fee, but I also will not be there cause I’m sick of waiting while literally 100 cabs drive past. I used the CBA netbank app to lock my credit card so they couldn’t charge me. Eventually the Uber driver cancelled the ride.

Yep, I've had this attempted scam play out as well. Old mate, gets close to my place then starts driving in the opposite direction. Tried to call, old mate eventually cancelled on his side.

It's disappointing that this once very reliable service has just become another cesspit of dodgy operators who've fled the taxi industry.

      • The reason the taxi industry was regulated over a century was to prevent wide scale criminality which always happens when hiring strangers to transport you. It's like fighting sports: criminality always enters into it unless it's regulated.

Now morons are surprised when a criminal organisation called Uber flouts taxi regulation and the criminality returns.

    • Always take screenshots every few minutes of his location so u can use that as evidence that your still waiting.

I once had a driver who parked several streets away obviously waiting for me to cancel.
I walked to that location, found the registration of the car, I could see him parked and watching a ipad movie.

I put my phone onto video,he didnt see me as I approached him from the rear and I videotaped him before he saw what was happening and quickly cancelled the job and drive off like a horse without feet

Uber asked me to send the video to them before they refunded my $10 cancellation fee

      • Wow, that is messed up. My guy was in the next suburb too far to do that. When i put in cancellation refund they said something like "are you sure you want to cancel? This driver spent 23mins for this job" and I was like that's the whole time I was waiting.
They did refund pretty much same day. So at least that wasn't hard. It was only $4 but maybe that was the reason why. I will avoid using uber in the city from now on if i can avoid it.

    Estimated time of arrival

    Definition of estimated being:
    Roughly calculated

Part of life, although I feel your pain. Used GOJEK and Grab in Bali and ETA vs actual time of arrival would usually have a difference of about 20 minutes

    • +1

This obviously isnt about the ETA being wrong.

    • If bali why not just taxi or tuktuk?

      • We’re talking 40 minute drives.
        I didn’t really see tuk-tuks over there
Taxis can be dodgy, a lot of overcharging and fake taxis.. ;)

Used one taxi, agreed on fare prior to hopping in and tried charging me double the agreed fare when we arrived.

With Grab and GoJek, prices were agreed by both parties prior to the ride commencing

Fake taxis lol, what happened when you went on one.

          • @Bryanalves: Tell you what, absolutely nothing like the website… sigh

A lot will be unmetered and try to charge about 3x the usual fare, going as far as locking the doors in some cases
