Why is it so expensive? Is it mainly targeted at those with old analogue amps? If so what are the specs on DAC, Noise THD, etc? Maybe an old Android phone will give similar audio quality under DLNA?
For someone with a digital input that at least supports SPDIF, if not HDMI, how is this better than an Android set top box running a standard DLNA server? Or again, even an old Android phone with HDMI?
Going the Android route would be a lot more feature rich considering the number of other apps that could also be run.

wouldnt using a echo with aux output or google chromecast audio do similar
Yep the echo aux out would be comparable, and perhaps better quality.
My guess is these things are worth $20 and use a very ordinary audio circuit. A big red flag is that they only offer an 1/8" phone socket for output, not even a pair of RCA's. Probably best to pick up a $20 mobile and use it's headphone socket. You can compare it with Heos link with some less functionality and price ofcourse
This reminds me to finally finish my retro volumio radio project…..
Pay a little more for the sonos amp might be a better idea
How can you we leave a review if we haven’t bought the product yet?
