I have been watching lithium ion batteries for a while to install one in my vehicle to run a car fridge. This is a fantastic price for a brand name unit. Normal retail price seems to be $500, which is on par with most other 50ah units.

Is 50 enough to run your fridge for a decent amount of time
My Waeco 40L draws about 18A/h per day. It varies of course with ambient temp, amount of food/drinks in fridge and other factors.
I’m not across depth of discharge rules for lithium iron phosphate, but assuming it is 100% then you’d get around 2 - 2.5 days for a typical fridge.
Do you mean 18Ah per day? 18 amps per hour per day doesn't really make sense ;-)
@bienvenu: Yes, 18Ah per day. The “/“ wasn’t needed.
Just fixed it. Try again.
People typically install 100ah agm’s in their cars for running a fridge. Usable capacity of an agm is often stated to be 50%, meaning 50ah usable. This has a usable capacity of 47ah and weighs only 6.7kg and is half the physical size.
Yep. Been looking at 100-120 amp deep cycle AGM recently.
Where to get car fridge to go with this battery?
This is $10 cheaper, same seller & looks to be the same cell?? Didn't try using the PASTA15 code though, couldn't be bothered mucking around with checkout..
Good find! That would being the price down to $356.99. My eBay app shows the item is eligible for PASTA15. I’ll update the listing.
So 61c/Whr, or $610/kWhr.
Not amazing compare to Li-Ion, but good if you want to replace AGM.Yeah I agree. I think this is a great price if you are in the market for a 50Ah LiFePO4 like I was. I recognise it’s a pretty small user case though. I had previously priced cells and a bms to make my own, hoping I could save some money - the material price was more than this listed Renogy item. I felt the savings were quite substantial and worthy of listing in case someone else was in the market.
Its a good price.
I paid $390 for 50Ah standalone like this a few years ago on sale. Then they went up.
This is cheap for a good LFP these days.
I also built my own 160Ah using Headway 10Ah cylindrical cells. It is not for the faint of heart doing all the construction and witing for the BMS. It was pretty cheap because I got the cells very cheap and the whole thing was around $800. But if I had my time again I would just buy these ones at this price
LiFePo is amazingly stable though.
If you have a use where weight isn't a major criteria (unlike a phone or laptop) I'd always go with this tech. How does that work? A reason to go for these batteries is because of their light weight compared to AGM.
They are heavier than the standard Lithium batteries in phones/computers.
They are lighter than AGM.
lifepo4 battery cant be parallel duel to bms inside of the battery. the cell cant balance it. plus u want to get a lithium battery charger although agm/gel battery charger will work but will reduce the battery life.
I purchased one of these previously (putting the cart before the horse). $200 during another eBay plus sale.
dc dc charger
I wanted vehicle and solar input plus a lithium charging program.Unsurprisingly jaycar are charging more than other retailers, however, they do list the product manual for anyone interested.
I was wondering how the management works within these. the setups I have seen before using batteries as found in Tesla etc require individual monitoring of each individual cell and appropriate charge balancing. How are bigger banks to be built up. Series or parallel is going to require some sort of smart charging. Can you not buy a smart charger to handle multiples?
Now I just need to fit this into my Bosch laser, and it would last me months.
Lithium batteries are really expensive in Australia.
can RC hobby charger charge this?
the charger support LiFe, not sure if same thingyes, my 2 can, it often called LiFe in hobby circles
Ships via tnt, could be a pain if you aren't home……
Fantastic for trolling motors on small boats and kayaks.
