There are so many sheepskin boots out there claiming to be 100% Australian Made. How can you tell one authentic boot from the rest?

What to ask your retailer when buying your sheepskin products.

Where are your skins from?
Where are they processed?
Are the boots hand cut, hand stitched, hand glued in Australia?
Ask for the address of manufacturer and tannery. There should be no reason why your retailer cannot provide you with details of the origin of your boots.

All Ugg Australia® products are 100% Australian made at our factory and ecologically processed at our Roman Tannery in Laverton North, Melbourne.

  • The linked-to webpage can't decide if they're for men or women….

    • And do you have a problem with that?

Pitchforks at the ready, and march.

How is men's sizing? I couldn't find any info about measuring feet to get the right UGG size.

    • use whatever your USA sneaker size is as a guide.

      • I don't know a lot about shoe sizes and I don't have any USA sneakers, my apologies!

I've bought shoes online before and returned most of them due to variance in sizes and it is a PITA. To deal with this, once I bought 3 of the same shoe in 3 different sizes, but even then had to return them all because none of them fit!

Anyway, if you have a page that tells me how to measure my foot and then how that translates to an UGG size, that would be very helpful and I will buy a pair.

MJ1, If you could have a look at inside of any shoes you own, on the inside of the tongue it will give you a size of some sort. Tell me this siz and I will try to help you.

          • @UGGAustraliaOfficial: OK it says Mens 12 / Womens 13.5 / UK11 / EUR 46.5 / 30cm

            • @MJ1: MJ1 your size is 12 or 13 depending on how you like your Ugg boots to fit.

              • @UGGAustraliaOfficial: Pooptarts. Do you have free returns if I order both sizes?

                • @MJ1: MJ1 no but we can exchange if it doesnt fit. Try 1 at a time please.

                  • @UGGAustraliaOfficial: OK, just so I get this straight - I pay $60 and get one pair shipped to me. If it doesn't fit, you will pay return shipping and then send me another pair at no extra charge?

To deal with this, once I bought 3 of the same shoe in 3 different sizes

At this point, surely you'd be asking, "what's wrong with my feet" and not "what's wrong with the shoe sizing"?

          • +1

@HighAndDry: It turned out they were all too small, even though my size was the middle size.

Lol, USA, sneaker???? From "only one in the world who has 100% Australian Made Ugg boots".

Kudos for being Au made but I bought mine from an Australian company with its own factory in Sydney. Here's another: https://www.australianuggboots.com.au/en-au/company/about-us
Leave it to others to assess your claim.

          Hi Possumbly,

You have the wrong company. UGG by Deckers is the US company, not us. I can assure you we are 100% Australian Made with Australia skins and chemicals. Our factory is located in Laverton North.

          • @UGGAustraliaOfficial: Sorry you missed my point. I was talking about your language (Sneakers? How about flip-flops?) and reference to US shoe sizes which I thought was kinda ironic after the all Oz guff. As I said though, more power to the company for being local and using local product and labour. That said, you aren't the ONLY real Australian UGG boot makers around.

@[Deactivated]: You may be interested to know though that ALL other ugg boot factories buy their skins from overseas, as we own the last Tannery in Australia making sheep skin for Ugg boots.
So yes we stand by our claim :).

LOl, know the frustration from shopping for a family member.

  • how about a deal on Original 3/4??

(and a special run in black colour. I don't want to match the Mrs)

    • We have 20% off this with the code WINTER, Sorry we dont do black but it could be a good idea….

      • I bought them in Black around 10yrs ago. It's a great idea

    • +1

In black? Would you like a mullet with that?

      • They'd have to be black moccasins to fit the bogan stereotype. Black ugg boots are all class.

Thanks for the deal….I've been wanting Uggs for years. Purchased! :D

  • This isn’t the Original Ugg brand from ugg.com California is it?

    • No we are the Australian Ugg that was established in 1981. we are 100% Australian owned and Made.

  • Are these comments re: boots need to still be manufactured after order, your company?

Also, can you please elaborate on your "We only offer refunds for issues that can not be resolved with a repair or exchange." sentence at https://uggaustralia.com.au/pages/returns-and-exchanges under Refunds? This whole page looks like you're making up your own rules, and ignoring the Consumer Guarantees, despite actually quoting it on that page.

    https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees…

    • Can't see anything in their Refunds and Exchanges spiel which contravenes ACL. In fact their exchange policy appears quite generous.

      • Suggesting that you can only get a refund if an issue cannot be resolved by repair or exchange is misinforming users about their rights. Under many circumstances, a consumer is entitled to a refund whether the seller wants to provide one or not. An obvious circumstance is if goods arrive faulty.

Their page is also worded in a way which implies that consumer guarantees only apply within their 3 month warranty period.

        • -1

I suggest you read the ACCC guidelines you linked to. A refund for faulty goods is NOT a guaranteed right under ACL. A seller is able to make good via replacement, or repair, or refund. Givens UGG Au's products, there MAY be a rare case where a refund should apply (eg a purchase which was time-critical - bought for birthday, travel etc), but just being faulty isn't one.

          • @[Deactivated]: Not necessarily.

"If you have a minor problem with a product or service, the business can choose to give you a free repair instead of a replacement or refund. When you have a major problem with a product, you have the right to ask for your choice of a replacement or refund. "

            ….

"A product or good has a major problem when:

it has a problem that would have stopped someone from buying it if they’d known about it"

As I said, their website also implies that the consumer guarantees only apply within their 3 month warranty period, which I'd question the legality of.

In any case, the returns and exchanges issue isn't the reason I chose not to purchase from them. The review website (and a few other places) have given them terrible post-sales reviews, which drove me to look at their returns policy.

I actually just want a good quality pair of Ugg boots, but it's almost impossible to work out what "good quality" even means, as it's a generic term.

            • @Blunglefortness: I know the guidelines, no need to cut and paste them, even less need to neg a comment during a discussion, even if it highlight your mistaken beliefs. Your claim that UGG Au is required by law to refund a buyer due to faulty goods is plain and simply incorrect but I agree they cannot limit a consumer's rights with an arbitrary timeframe. Statutory guarantees on products apply irrespective of manufacturer's warranty. With normal use and care I doubt anyone would buy ugg boots thinking they will only last 3 months even with daily use so that particular statement on their website is nonsense, most probably ignorance of consumer law.

The vast majority of ugg boot retailers sell good quality products, the process isn't exactly rocket science. I can vouch for Australian made uggs, although I haven't bought from Ugg Au.

              • @[Deactivated]: I didn't neg anything? Never negged a comment on this forum, and doubt 'll start now. Someone else must have done it.

In what way are my "beliefs mistaken" ?

When you say "Australian made uggs", from which company? I'm sure there's different levels of quality of Australian made uggs too, no?

                • @Blunglefortness: Okay my apologies, the negger is obviously a squib who doesn't understand ACL or eschews facts. I've covered your error in my last two posts, no point repeating.

If you are actually interested in purchasing ugg boots then googling and reading will tell you what you need to know about Oz made. Read the 'about us' parts of websites and you'll quickly work it out. Just remember that UGG/UGG Australia is not actually what it suggests - it's an American company (Deckers) which trademarked the name and has sued Oz businesses for breech in the "land of the free" (lol). They even tried to claim the generic term ugg as theirs. Fortunately that furphy was quashed - in this country.

As far as quality goes: as I said making ugg boots is not a difficult process. 99% will pass muster for all but the pickiest consumer. For ~$60 on sale you're hardly buying into a disaster even if they only last a couple of winters. Stick to specialist sellers/makers if you're concerned about quality.

                  • @[Deactivated]: Apologies to the real UGG Australia (this seller) if anyone has been confused by my comment above. Deckers is apparently now just UGG (called themselves UGG Australia, no relation, at one time I believe). The above company is Australian, as their website will tell you.
