Those above RRP prices on day 1 prices never been good boy. But you knew this
It's true I rushed it and got it too quick.
Well you did get it before everyone else, there is some advantage in that. I'm still running zen+.
FYI. I think suppliers are waiting for a second wave of stock from AMD (at least for the 3900x). The ETA I was given from a different seller is 3rd August.
My ETA for 3900x just got bumped again. It is now 8th August.
The ETA is now 23/08/2019. It would be funny if I wasn't waiting on it.
Great price for the 3700X
Well ive waited 2 weeks for the price to go sub 480 again after the initial release. Guess i can wait 4 more weeks for delivery :/ BOUGHT
I'm waiting for something to happen in amd matx land before moving. I'm not super hopeful…
Was just looking at these too, at least below the RRP now for the 3700x. But didn't notice the 1 month delivery, guess these are 'pre-orders' disguised as current sales with a long delivery time.
Well, here's the thing: The item description lists stock being available late July/early August. On their website directly, it also lists the same dates. I'm hopeful the eBay dates are just a safe-gap in case of any further delays. But regardless, still a great deal (even if we have to wait a bit for it).
Bought, thanks!
I am somewhat new to AMD world. What GPU do you guys run with Ryzen? I am excited about Ryzen, but will Nvidia graphic card runs on this for GSYNC?
Yep Nvidia will run fine and gsync will work if your monitor supports it
I have a 1080Ti currently with my AMD CPU, so yes it works the same as in an Intel system. GSYNC works fine.
Nvidia will work but AMD's 5700 and 5700XT are the best value right now.
Best value for sure, but if you want higher performance and can afford it, then the 2080 Super will give you more. (But you will pay for it!)
So tempting, just for a future reference. Can someone recommence a good mobo ? Says I want to keep it running at reliable speed/stage for 7yrs, no wifi needed. Yes I will OC it at some stage. Cheers.
Same. Mobo is always the hardest choice. Don't need anything visually appealing
Decide what features you need. Then sort by cheapest and see which ones have those features haha
Have a look at the description section of this Youtube video.
MSI b450 Tomahawk is always an easy recommendation, very popular board and very solid, can do just about everything all other boards can do. Saying that all of MSIs b450 mobos have been well received, take a look at reviews and see which suits you best.
I'd advise against an MSI B450 Tomahawk (or any B450 of MSI's motherboards) at this very moment, there is an issue with the CPU not posting when paired with a Ryzen 3000 series CPU. I myself have a MSI B450 Pro Carbon AC and I have the issue..
If you go the the subreddit r/MSI_gaming , you will see how many threads are all about this issue.I'm not saying the board is bad (its actually a good board), but if you pair it with a Ryzen 3000, there is a chance it will fail and you need to wait for an upcoming (unknown ETA) BIOs update fix.
Ah yes I forgot I'm special;)
Rocking a b450 tomahawk and a 3700x since a few days after launch and was super smooth to get going. Haven't run into any issues at all meanwhile I'm hearing all these complaints. Only reason I can think my build has been smooth is I forgot to plug in the reset button (which apparently is a thing that causes problems?).
@liquornoodlescabbage: Aha lucky you :p
Seems there are many factors, but nothing is certain at this point. I also had tried unplugging the reset switch before to no avail.
I'm also rocking a 3700x.
MSI B450 Mortar is good enough for most people including OC 3900x if have good cooling inside case. Cheaper B450 boards usually have weaker power supply.
Max version was released today with larger BIOS ROM.
If is for future, wait till they release the new 550 series.
What RAM are you guys going to run with the 3900X? I'm looking at 64GB.
Amd what pray tell are you planning to do with a 3900x with 64gb ram?
wot
Maybe he wants to be able to run a second instance of chrome?
Quantum computing isn't quite ready yet
Rendering and or video editing maybe. VM stuff too. Maybe some mapping stuff.
Used to fill 32gb RAM easily video editing, would be easy to fill 64 as well. It'll use what you have haha.
I have 128GB in my main machine, and sometimes run out of RAM. I do film restoration work.
The 'sweet spot' is supposedly 3600 CL16, but I was wondering if anyone already had a working setup.
There is good detail here:
https://premiumbuilds.com/ram/best-ram-for-ryzen-3000/
My choice: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 64 GB (4 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory. You can get from amazon.com/newegg for ~$510 or B&H (no GST collected) for ~$480.
Micron E-die, great compatibility with ryzen and could be overclocked to 3600cl16 according to reddit.
What the heck RAM is so expensive now. It was $300 for 64GB when I upgraded in 2015
Now?
Try a year or so ago, prices were double what they are now.
Rich guy detected.
Can I shine your shoes?
Not rich, just need a ton of RAM for work.
If I was rich I would just buy a 28 core Xeon and 256GB, but I have to play in the cheap end of workstations at this point.
Woot finally!! had my finger hovering the $519 price for sooooo long now. Thanks OZB you've done it again!
Then why don't upvote? ;)
Good cpu and good price, but I am hoping that Intel and AMD have a price war, once the initial dust of the AMD CPUs release settles. I am not an early adopter and still have my overclocked (4.4) Intel 2500K. About time to upgrade to AMD me thinks :)
Really happy to see some competition back in the market.
got sucked in.. 3900x on the way
Was sold on the Ryzen 9 3900x so ages but I can't warrant the cost.
Plus the overall gaming (which I'm mostly getting mine for) results are not overall that much different.
Out of curiosity are you using it for productivity or streaming?
If anyone is on the fence to buy a 3700x, I would definitely say that it has been a great purchase decision for me and I am really enjoying my new build. So I would highly recommend this. I think this is a great price to snag one.
Out of curiosity, what CPU did you upgrade from?
Honestly a 4th gen Intel I5 on my laptop. Was getting back to a PC build after 12 years.
You missed the Ryzen 3600 deal. $288 and delivers between Fri. 9 Aug. and Tue. 13 Aug
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AMD-Ryzen-5-3600-6-Core-Socket-A…Which CPU would be a better purchase for ultrawide (Acer X34P) gaming and longevity the Ryzen 9 3900x or I7 9700K paired with 2070 Super? Cheers.
Pure gaming only machine: 9700K, otherwise 3900X.
Longevity, definitely the 3900X, the frame rates differences are so close that they are basically irrelevant at this stage, and there is likely to be much more Ryzen software optimisation coming, especially with the new consoles being 8 core Ryzens at their heart.
The extra four cores come into play for many things, and utilising more cores is the direction software is going, so longevity, yeah 3900X all the way.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amdahl%27s_law
This is why single core performance even after all these years of games getting multi threaded support is still the single most important factor when it comes to gaming performance.
3900x loses up to 15-20% in cases where single threaded performance is the bottleneck, game engine loads are not equal thread workloads like rendering/encoding is.
Nope. Go and check reviews. Hardware Unboxed only had 3200MHz ram and found the 3900x a lot closer than that, especially at 1440p and above.
recommendations with what cpu to pair with a 2070? looking at the 9700k or 3700x? mainly just gaming on my pc tbh
edit; comment above literally asked the same thing3700x because it's cheaper and you can use a decent b450 mobo from MSI for it.
I would like to mention that if you pick R9 3900x with x570 motherboard now, you can enjoy a greater bandwidth of the PCIE 4.0 x4, with 2 x M.2 NVME SSD in Raid 0 mode. Ultimate loading performance. Any ideas?
Unless you need to copy 10GB+ large files every hour, 970 evo plus is a better choice for now.
PCIE 4.0 NVMe drives are crazy expensive compared to regular PCIE 3.0 drives.
Gigabyte Aorus M.2 PCIe NVMe Gen4 SSD 1TB is now the same price as Samsung 970 pro NVMe Gen3 1TB. Even cheaper on eBay.
Poor form to list 10 as in stock but to declare delivery to be 1 month.
Probably best to wait considering all of the new hardware turning up around then along with announcements of AMD and Intel CPU's.Yeah pretty much everywhere is out of stock on 3900X right now (including internationally) so it's pretty clear they don't actually have it. AFAIK there's no dates on when new stock is in yet either, so this is a fair gamble, though you do save a little bit.
I agree, it's pretty shady. Ebay don't seem to care about this or all the price jacking and misleading "20% off" deals as they get commission on those sales and it boosts traffic towards their website.
I have noticed since Amazon came to Aus I'm getting tons of spam messages from ebay about items I've never bought or even searched for.
Shopping Express on ebay has Ryzen 7 3700X for $470.90 using PASTA15, 5 in stock as of now. Link.
I don’t know why you guys all ordered from Wireless One when Computer Alliance (on eBay using Pasta15) had stock of 3700x at the same price. I ordered mine at 11:59pm last night (just before the promo finished) and it’s already shipped.
Because a lot of things happened between 25/07 and 31/07, e.g. Computer Alliance received some CPU from their supplier and add/edit their listing.
Fair enough I only ever saw it listed as in stock when I checked around but admittedly I only started looking close to the end of July.
3700X is a good processor, I got one, paid more for it than this though :(
