Kmart $149 Stick Vacuum Opinions

Has anybody tried or has any thoughts on the newer stick Vacuum at Kmart? I know the last one had a few issues mostly by not sucking hard enough, but this one seems to be quite different.

This is the one I am talking about

My wife bought it about a month ago. I’ve used it a couple of times and seems fine. She seems very happy with it.

    I'm also looking for one.

This one $99 with adjustable variable suction , so you can vacuum your bedding with ease on low suction.

This one $119 from target, many good reviews. With external replaceable battery pack (like power tools).

So, which one is best here ?

Following with interest… and wondering if the Xiaomi Dreame is worth double the price

If you're serious about cleaning…. skip it.

Thinking about the physics, you want to maximise power and reduce resistance. One way to do so, is to have the hose be as short as possible, or have the motor as close to the vacuum head as possible. That's what this design allows, doubly-so with the brushless motor. Plus the head of it uses its own power, so you get a slight boost to suction performance instead of a noticeable detraction. However, you would still want something that has decent power (2000W) and a decent storage pod (3L). Where this product falls flat is in the power delivery. There's only a limited amount of power you can store in the battery, so either you have to compromise on your cleaning/power, or be limited to a short duration of use. Neither compromise is acceptable.

The Upright Vacuum model they have is better. Sure there's a cable, but you get constant reliable power. The only problem with that is its using an oder generation motor, and its quite weak at 1200W. The Standard 2400W is using the current-gen motor, and that's really the pick of the litter. Sure it might not have these fancy lights, but its a tool, it gets in there and gets the job done.

I am looking for a cordless vac, do you think the Xiaomi V9 is a good option? I am sick of Dyson

      • +1

The Xiaomi V9 looks like its "okay" for anything besides carpet, hair, and pets. It's only good for hard floors and maybe couch-seams. The biggest problem with the V9 is that it's only decently powerful at the high setting, so you only get 10mins of use. That's double what you get with the Kmart vacuum, but neither are acceptable for most people.

If you want a good vacuum, you either have to pony up and get the Dyson.
Or you have to say goodbye to the Lithium Battery vacuums, and stick with a Standard Corded Vacuum.

PS: You can still buy a small handheld for the odd job, and crevices. But the main task is still not greatly achieved by the cordless machines.
PPS: The Wet-Dry vacuums aren't good unless you get the much more powerful ones (they're very inefficient design), but the Bagged Miele vacuums are still the best machines for capturing things that can trigger asthma and allergies.

        • Thank you, I will wait for any Dyson go on sales again, not sure buying the V8 or the old V10….

I run a Bissell Crosswave over my floors when I want it really clean.
Something like this would be more for the inbetween small cleans, spills or if I find out someone is coming around last minute and I have to make it look like I'm not a slob.
I guess like tomclancy I am really wondering if the step up to the Dreame V9 is worth the extra money. Definitely not worth it to get a Dyson for me, I have a massive bias against anything with a battery.

  • Anyone got any advice for vac under $300, need a powerful one for sucking pet hairs..

Is this kmart $149 one any good?

  • +1

I purchased one in the end, I don't have a Dyson to compare to, but I have a Bosch Athlet that I compared it to (chucked a few different things on my floors and stomped them in) and it easily pulled up things better than the Bosch, not one thing did it to worse as far as lifting from carpet and hard floor.

    Downsides:
Small filter in it. When emptying I pull out the filter and give it a quick tap or else it slows down pretty fast due to clogging.

Low power is very low, it will still suck up small things, but struggles with heavier objects or things ground into carpets, high gets all that easy. Would have liked it slightly tuned to suck a little harder on low.

Lack of heads, I would have liked one wide head (upholstery head). Might try and find something that will fit in it later.

    Very happy with it
