Good for the kids room or a small apartment.
Original $40 off $150 spend deal
Normally $179 at petbarn and $249 elsewhere.
White or black. I personally would choose black to hide the algae build up but white looks good.

Supposedly a little harder to change filters or find replacement parts compared to the aquaone brand. But who knows, that could have been the aquarium staff trying to sell excess aquaone stock. Ask in store and see what they say
Generic sponges from eBay, big bag of filter floss and a bottle of seachem matrix and its good to go… Been running one for 7 months or so and still on the first bag of floss.
Forget the existing filter design, put sponges/floss in the first bit and bio media in the second where they tell you to put there daft media design. You'll get tons of matrix or whatever in there. I put it in a bag for easy future removal.
Also the pumps they ship which this and the size upol are really quite fast flowing, will blow things like a betta around the tank… Took ours out and dropped a small eheim pump in, this was on the size up from this one.
Showing 179.99 for me both black and white.
You need to sign-yo for their free "Friends for life club". Don't worry it shows no coupons, in the friends for life portal. After you have done that, sign back into PetBarn with the same credentials, and then checkout will automatically apply the coupon and show other coupons available.
I just signed up and received the discount.
-4.2% cashback, I agree this is a decent deal.
Is there anything else that anyone would buy from Petbarn in terms of a new setup with this (besides fish!)
Just trying to work out if there's other items that would be useful/ I would generally need to see if it's worth trying to get to $250 to get $70 off.
(it will be a fishtank for kids, and I haven't had one myself for about 25 years!)
Heater if you live in cold climate eg. melbourne. Dechlorinator (Prime). Some decent fish food (Vitalis for example). GH booster if your water TDS is low and you plan to grow real plants (you would want to!). Get plants from liverpoolcreek aquariums online. Light in the flex is low light so stick to easy plants like anubias, java fern and maybe certain stem plants like rotala colorata. You'll need a substrate, get a little bag of ADA amazonia and you're set.
Don't add live fish for 1 month while the bacteria cycles.
cheers, thanks for the advice.. : )
Just get two of them. $105 each!
Well besides fish… shrimp :) I enjoy our shrimp tank a lot for watching, always busy doing things. The original version of this tank wasn’t shrimp friendly but it now comes with little covers that you can put over the filter inlets to stop small fry and shrimps going in. I put some medium foam in the intake covers too, a bit of a prefilter and stops anything at all going in.
Wouldn’t get shrimp at pet barn though.
Oh all the other things above too, especially cycle the tank if you can’t jump start it with media from an existing tank.
gravel cleaner …..
Does the light has timer?
And , that food inlet is too small for automatic feeding machine
No timer, but it remembers what state it was in so I have it on a plug timer.
For feeder we have some sunsun model amazon were selling that comes with a funnel that allows the food to drop through the hole… only use it when away and while it does sit on the tank ok I tape it down with painters tape too.
This one, the base is what makes it work ok with this tank:

Mine doesn't work right. Unplug it while in white mode and it'll come back on blue.
Perhaps something they revised over time, like adding the covers for the intake grates? That said the lights don't seem great, plants grow worse than under some cheapo light I bought from ebay for another tank.
Surely the going rate on Gumtree is a VL Commodore and a bottle of Bundy? /s
