You have a point. But at the same time I was assuming might be better options out there, hence the question.
A "good deal" on travel stuff seems a bit more subjective/complicated if you're not just talking about flights etc.
Become a pro at Skyscanner. Toy with dates and times.
how do you do it?
Know where you want to fly. Know roughly when. Every day search, toy with nearby airports if applicable as well as 1 way routes or other. Know when the price quoted is abnormal and jump on it.
Go to a travel agent that's been in the business for more than 2 years. About 30% of airline fares cannot be obtained on skyscanner. Corporate fares/Student fares/Companion fares and privately negotiated fares. Also us agents - can get the same published fare cheaper through a variety of different ways

Scoopon, Trip a Deal, make sure your not booking on an Australian site… sometimes it cheaper booking in a different currency in a different country
