Yea, the cable does worry me. However, Amazon are pretty good with returns.

I've owned many of these
pros:
they sound great,
isolate better than any earphones i've ever used,
super comfortable even to sleep in
cons:
the cable they are on is extremely weak and will often break or malfunction after a month or two of use. i've had cables snap, ghosting input in the inline controls (the music would suddenly stop or volume would increase/decrease without touching the button), the rubber over the cables wearing off (especially at the base where it connects to the phone).
I ended up buying another one as this is a good price. But if you are someone who isn't very very careful with these, you'll probably find they don't last long.
