Wow - that is cheap as Sony chips! If you haven't already got one (possibly still sealed in its box in a cupboard) grab it and emulate and sideload away 👍🏻

  • +2

Definitely worth it at this price.

  • +1

    Damn that's a great price!

  • +1

Can you get Cashrewards on purchases from Amazon US?

    • +1

Yes, as long as it's comes via Amazon AU… such as this

      • +2

Thanks for the reply. Bought One.

  • +2

Worth it for the controllers dam cheaper than any kind of raspberry pi build with controllers

  • +1

Was this $99 not long ago?

    • +11

      Pre-order/Released RRP was $149.

      • +1

With shopback + $3 bonus, gets this down to ~ $28. 80% off RRP. Wot.

  • +1

    Very nice price.

  • +1

Awesome. Thanks got one! Modding here we come

  • +2

Can more games be added by mod?

    • +1

      Certainly can

      • Is this better than Raspberry Pi 3 emulator?

        • +1

For PlayStation 1, yes. It doesn't have the most comprehensive compatible emulation list yet.

          • @FabMan: But the Classic uses PCSX, an open source emulator.

If the pi had better specs than the Classic then it would run it better.

            • @SnowDragon: I agree but the comparison was RPi3 vs PSC. I wonder how it compares to RPi4, I haven't checked.

        • +1

Yes. Especially considering the included case, cables and controllers.

        • +1

I bought one and i'm only using it for the case. Looks nice, but getting upgraded internals will be better. Pi4 will be delicious

  • +1

ordered 2 and it seems like i am going to loose my sleep anticipating the deals :)

  • -4

can I watch YouTube or Netflix with it?

    • No

  • +1

Sick price got 2 thanks :D

  • Since this is sold by Amazon US, we would need to buy a power adapted or a AU plug right?

    • +10

      USB powered

  • +1

jeez… each of these deals is like a slap in the face for sony for flopping the classic.

  • +12

IDK what this is, or why do I need it but I bought it just in case if I need in the future :)

    • +4

      That's the (OzBargain) spirit!

    • +4

same here. everybody here says it's a good deal so although I don't play games, I bought one

  • +14

Alright, finally caved and bought one. Remembered saving my pocket money for six months to buy one at 400 bucks in 1996.

    • +3

i did the same. saved up hardcore for one, but then couldnt afford any games. demo disk for life.

      • Ahh yep. I had a few demo disks.
I was so determined on saving my paper round money for it, I constructed a pie graph where I would colour in segments week to week, eyes on the prize. I only made about $25 a week delivering the newspaper. I'm surprised I could actually save $400 bucks…

        • i think i used to work at coles then, it may have even been the ps2 i was saving up for. after tax i cleared around $9 an hour. working part/time casual, was the longest few months ever!

  • -8

Tried to add another 2 (wanted 60+) but hit a hard limit

    • Why? over $60 won't get you free shipping. Need prime

      • -2

No I meant purchase at least 60 units

        • wtf lol. You ordered 60 of these? why?

          • @cyrax83: Flipping?

            • +3

@MrGareth: dude's got kahunas trying to flip a turd of a product lol unless you keep the in the garage for 5 years

          • @cyrax83: Limit is 2 so that’s all I got

        • +2

Why would you want 60, you building a fort?

  • Err, how did you get free shipping? I signed up for prime, do I have to order over $49 worth?

    • +1

No, Prime is free no matter the price.

      • All good removed and added it again must have been a issue with just signing up cheers

        • Amazon Prime members enjoy:
FREE Expedited Delivery on eligible items in as fast as two business days
FREE International Delivery on eligible orders over $49 from Amazon US
Prime Video and Prime Music at no additional cost

Not sure if this is regarded as an order from Amazon US. As it's ordered through amazon.com.au, I wouldn't have thought that to be the case

    • -1

yeah title is misleading its free shippining over $49 from usa not just free shipping but most ozb know this so he probably omitted it from title to save space.

      • but at the moment its free shipping for prime members until 21st, regardless of $49 min

  • -7

Signed up for Prime, ordered free shipping, and cancelled Prime, refunded my $6.99 lol hacks

    • Don't like you

    • You could have waited for another 29 days before Cancelling and order more free shippings./s

  • what accessories and external memory do you recommend?

    • +1

      YouTube bleemsync

  • My shopback hasn't registered any purchases this month? Is moving to cart the same as adding to cart? Maybe that's my issue. I also have the shopback buddy extension, but i click through from the shopback page. The page says everything will go through.

    • +4

Pretty sure you've correctly identified the problem. What I do is have an item in my saved for later as a reference and use the link to its page and then add it to the cart.

    • I have also done like bailbondsh, so have we lost it

      • +2

cashrewards paid me lost transactions in this way, not sure about shopback

  • +1

    Cheers OP . Bought x 2 . Will make nice gifts .

  • +1

Thanks O.P. - have resisted buying this for ages.

    Resistance is futile for OzB'ers.

  • Temporary out of stock, but can still order at this price

    • I can't imagine anyone ordering more stock of this.

  • Back to $57 for me.

    • Showing $92 for me :/

    • +2

I just ordered one for 31.74, says its temporarily out of stock though.

      • +1

Yep back to $31, grabbed one for some reason ;)

        • +1

Just put my order in too now.

  • +1

    Bought!

  • Anyone got link to a great modding guide/source?

  • Showing out of stock but placed an order

  • Can anyone recommend a usb that will work on sale at the moment? Tried a few i have an they dont work :(

    • +1

Hunt around for some old smaller capacity ones tucked away in a drawer. I used an 8GB verbatim and it worked in a front port. Once you install bleemsync (including the custom kernel) you can then use an OTG adapter to use any USB from the rear USB port.

    • +2
  • +1

Finally pulled the trigger, thanks OP.

  • It's cheap cause it flopped.
Might be worth it for mods if I didn't already have a SNES classic which is modded for any console SNES and earlier (genesis GBA etc), and a PC will emulate playstation better than this.
    Still, great price.

    • +5

Yeah, but you don't buy these for game compatibility, you get it because it looks cool and for the two Sony manufactured controllers. An NVIDIA Shield renders ALL of these mini consoles pointless if you just want to compare emulator performance.

  • Even at this price I'm struggling to pull the trigger.

    • +9

      Then dont and move on

    • Same lol. With the mod are you only able to add PS1 games?

  • Temporarily out of stock.

  • Dang it. I only just received mine yesterday.

I got a free upgrade to expedited shipping but it took 11 days to receive, no different than their usual posting time.

  • Might wait for AU stock.
I had no idea they can be modded!

    • Why wait though? This will (most likely) arrive well before any Aus stock is ever available for a similar price. I can only assume you wish to "support Australian retailers" or something, which kind of makes sense but it's rather counterintuitive since you're waiting for an Australian seller to sell it at a loss to you. I dunno, you do you man.

      • That’s true. I’m just in no rush to get one, nor do I know if I will ever use it.

  • +4

    Bought one. Dunno why…

    • +1

      ditto
