Yep. The problem is when you use too much pressure and not enough polish (lube). Scratches from friction/heat to the surface will wreck the clear coat.
Very soft touch, long sweeping moves (don't stay in one area), and plenty of product.Watch some Youtube clips if you still aren't sure.
Also dirty pads from not cleaning them. If you just add add add lube then they get dirty from what they're taking off the paint and start scratching the clear coat too.
Note to those considering this… battery powered polishers are much heavier than corded ones.
The idea of no cord is great, but the practicality of waving a heavier polisher back and forth- and the reduced grunt compared to 240v, will have you reconsidering your purchase pretty quick.
A smaller battery weighs less, but gives you less power (yes there's a difference to operational power as well as battery life).
A larger battery will give you a little more grunt, but is considerably heavier… and a nice light head when polishing makes a huge difference.IMO a powered polisher (even though it has a cable), is a much better option.
I couldn’t agree anymore!! This polisher is really only suited to applying wax. You might be able to do some minor paint correction with this but you will need a 240v 5 inch polisher for harder jobs. At this price it’s worth grabbing just to save your arms when waxing a car.
Most YouTube videos show these applying polish or wax; can you just then to buff off polish or wax too?
I brought it for the buff off option only - don't want a f-ing cord rubbing on my car when buffing
- or getting caught - or stopping me going all the way around the carI have a corded adjustable polisher - and as above recommend it too
but for $49 cordless you can't really go wrong - bar the battery life -
I Just picked it up - You will require to buy or make and fluffy bonnet as it does not come with 1 ( I made 1 out of old Sheepskin seat covet :)
Tested My WORX Blower Battery on it and it worked fine so another bonus for me
not heavy at all as suggested above
My Rockwell polisher 2.46 kg
This 1 with out battery 2.28kgI don't have anything to weight batt on its own But used Bath room scales 2.6kg* approx with Batt.
Thanks OP. Bought one for click n collect. Spent 2 hours washed and waxed my car days ago hope this will save me some time in future.
Can it be used for anything other than cars?
Yes. Stone benchtops, tiles, etc
