I would buy this TV if I didn't order a budget tcl tv (which I get today).
R7 is supposedly the p8 replacement so definitely a solid tv at an excellent price.
I'm sure mods can add the price into the title if the OP disapeared
could always return it
At a cost yes
Are you sure?? From what I know P8 has Quantum Dot Technology (QLED).
Don't see that mentioned anywhere for this model.
The R7 is the replacement for the P7. The P8 has Quantum DOT which the R8 (when it becomes available for sale) will also have.
Nevertheless the picture quality on the R7 is very good. I have the 65R7 and the colours can be made pretty vibrant (I prefer more neutral so I've adjusted it down). The black levels are pretty good too even in dimly lit rooms (if you sit off angle from the screen the black level suffers though)
Probably best to stop repeating that. R7 is the replacement for P7, with Dolby Vision support added. R8 and P8 have quantum dot. R6 and P6 are direct lit without local dimming.
Whats the P8 Like for gaming , is the QDOT good quality
QDOT is a technology for improving colour gamut and vibrancy I believe. When you mention gaming, is it latency that you're worried about?
@Knight2000: Yes latency really like when trees move in battlefield V or racing on Grant Turismo, Like Motion Blur
Also Concerned on the blacks and light bleeed
Got this tv delivered this week and set it up yesterday. So far so good. Although comjng from a 7 year old 47in Toshiba Led anything is a step up.
Now just to play around with the calibration settings
What's funny is my 10 year old 1080p plasma looks better than almost all current lcd screens.
The only thing that beats it would be a 4k hdr disc on most current and decent 4k TV's (and especially anything OLED).
Yeah still running a 10 year old Samsung Plasma in the other lounge room. Hasn't missed a beat. Also doubles as heating in winter.
Ah the cosy heating! The memories….
I got one too a couple of weeks ago. So far I'm loving it. Are you using a calibration disc or some other tool to achieve calibration?
Also, I noticed this weird bug where when I set Ultra smooth motion to "off" on the HDMI 2 input (I haven't tried the other HDMI ports yet), the next time I turn on my TV and switch to that input the the Ultra smooth motion looks like it's turned on my itself even though the setting is still set to "off". I have to manually switch to "standard" and back to "off" to have it turned off again.
Nah nothing used for the settings. So far just trial and error in the limited time ive had it up.
Mostly be used for watching sports.Theres an option for when to u make changes for the picture, or sound aswell, you can go to Picture mode settings then
"Apply Picture Settings: Adjust current picture mode to apply to all sources or just
current source."I'm not sure if that would be what your looking for?
I'll give that a try…however it seems that all other settings that I changed are remembered even if I don't select that.
I saw an add Hisense is releasing Android Tvs.
It's already on the market. It's the G series. The catch is that it has lower specs.

Their Android TVs go as the RG series and sits between their R6 and R7 series (has edge lit local dimming and bluetooth headphone support which the R6 doesn't have but doesn't have the Dolby Vision support, Dolby Atmos support and Alexa support which the R7 has).
They have the Hisense next to the samsungs at Jbhifi. Is it just me or the samsungs look soooo much smoother in there display modes? Didnt get to watch sport on them however. Yes there is a $600 difference.
Yes! Noticed that too. They were playing Dunkirk on P8 and RU7100. The Samsung was def smoother.
Price in title please! :o)
