  • hi

is this the same as the orange Porsche apart from the colour scheme?

    • +1

      Totally different set.

    • +3

The orange one was the GT3 RS and this one is the RSR. The GT3 is a road car and the RSR was developed for GT Endurance racing.

    • +1

      Not really.

Particularly, the Orange one is All wheel drive with a working gearbox and slip differential. This one isn't and is around 7cm shorter than GT3

    • The 911 GT3 RS is the bigger, better, more complex Technic set. It has a working, 4-speed gearbox, limited slip differential and is arguably more aesthetically-true-to-life.

      • thanks all. Have been trying to find this orange set, but prices keep escalating

        • Just be aware, the build for the 911 GT3 RS is pretty complicated, especially if you're not used to these larger Lego Technic sets where gear and axle tolerances and clearances really do matter, so if you make a mistake early on it's fiendishly complicated to fix things without ripping the entire build apart and the instructions even have a notable mistake them where they instruct you to mount the gearbox backwards (so you end up with 4 reverse gears and 1 forward gear). Plenty of info about this online.

          • @Miami Mall Alien: Also be aware that the 911 GT3 RS is not sold anymore, it's an EOL product as per the website.

            https://shop.lego.com/en-LT/product/Porsche-911-GT3-RS-42056

Such a shame as I was after one of these.. I prefer this to the RSR..

            • @Matt86: It's retired, but there's plenty of new stock still floating around on eBay or places like JustBricks or BrickLink; granted the prices are a bit north of RRP but still not too bad.

It's going to be some months at least before the 911 GT3 RS is officially unavailable through retailer channels and is only on offer on the "resale" market for exorbitant money.

              • @Miami Mall Alien: Yeah I found that after..

I guess I'll wait and see what my tax is, see if I can nab a deal.

Bricklink looks the go for pricing.

          • @Miami Mall Alien: OMFG, that's why the gears in my GT3 doesn't work!!!! I had no idea - I just assumed I had put it together incorrectly (which I obviously did, albeit unwittingly)… now I'm going to have to wait for a rainy weekend and rebuild it.

  • Different model it is based on and the orange and this one are two different scales (sizes) when next to each other.

Not as great a deal as the Amazon one which sold out in minutes (probably very little stock) however this is a superb price for this model posted from an Australian bricks and mortar store.

Yes I got one this time so thanks OP for posting.

  • +3

Closest I'll ever get to owning a Porsche.

    • Thanks to OP,, now I own a Porsche :) , hope they wont cancel my order..

  • -1

I thought the Beetle had been cheaper than this previously?

  • -1

THANKS, ALMOST BOUGHT AN IDENTICAL ONE FROM BIG W FOR $199.00 (ON SALE).

    BUT THIS ONE IS BETTER.

  • I'd rather buy Technic Mack Anthem 42078 @ $169.96 than this one at same price with around 60 % more Lego ( weight ).

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LEGO-Technic-Mack-Anthem-42078/2…

  • Well..
    I'm now $170 poorer.

Thanks OP, this will be good to take my mind off things for a week or so hopefully. It'll go well with my 1:18th Audi models I feel (it's bigger, but meh).

Really wanted the 911 GT3 for the gears, etc however this is discontinued.

EDIT: Anyone got any LED kits for these?

I'm stuck between something like this or this

The second one is what I am leaning towards as it has more LED's and looks nicer/more true.

  • Been wanting this since it came out but refused to pay the over-inflated RRP. Missed the $159.99 deal so snapped one of these up using the discount…. happy camper!

  • +1

This is sold out. Even if they have a new listing, when you go to finalise the payment, it says it is out of stock

  • 0 available right now..
