Does 3rd party car insurance cost depend of the age of the car or location or the driver?
How to find the cheapest 3rd party insurance for a 2004 RAV4 in South Australia?
What would be a reasonable car value to consider more than just 3rd party?
Thanks in anticipation.

I would add go comprehensive if you want to have the cost of your car/damage to it recovered without hassle (or even at all) in the event of a not at fault accident.
So many posts recently have been where a party does not have comprehensive, have an accident where they are not at fault, but are having difficulty getting cash out of the out fault party. If nothing else, comprehensive just means this all becomes the insurers problem (and more to the point, the at fault party can deal with your insurance company, rather than you).
A lot of third-party policies will cover you for not-at-fault accidents if you can identify the at-fault party. They will organise repairs for you and pursue the at-fault party for their costs. Worth checking the details of the policy.
Fair enough if you have one of those.
It seems plenty don't and then come here looking for ways to extract cash from some dero who as often as not doesn't have insurance themselves and whose probabilities of forking out any amount of cash hover right around zero.
@Seraphin7: Most people aren't even aware of their policy covers it. I had someone hit me a long time ago when I had a cheap car and only third-party insurance, and I had no idea at all I was covered. I had exactly the same problems you describe before someone told me to check my policy, and yeah, issue sorted. I'd recommend having such a policy since all the insurers I looked at did have it since it effectively doesn't cost them a whole lot.
my experience in qld
3rd party is pretty fixed at $210 thereabouts , no matter which insurer, driver's age, sex, car type, location, driving history and probably 10 other things.
It doesn't matter whether you drive a cheap or expensive car - it is the value of the car you hit that is relevant. That is the unknown factor.
If you are looking at insuring your car then there are numerous factors that will influence the risk/reward outcome.I have two cars on third party insurance and one is significantly more expensive than the other. When I rang to enquire why they said one is a higher risk than the other.
Google up some car insurers and do yourself a few quotes. Free and painless…
All insurance is determined by different means by all insurers. All insurance is determined by different means by all insurers.
This. Lots of this. There re highly paid academics working out how to extract maximum dollar from you while teams of lawyers fight about not paying out.
It depends on the driver's age, sex, car type, location, driving history and probably 10 other things.
Get comprehensive if you can't afford to repair/replace the car if you damage it.
