The flight is really cheap but the hotel costs an arm and a leg

      Buy a tent

      • -1

A tent costs probably two grand too over there

        • Pack your own?

          https://camping.honolulu.gov/

At camping.honolulu.gov you can reserve a campsite up to two (2) weeks in advance. Campsites are made available every Friday at 5:00 p.m. (Hawaii Standard Time) including Holidays. Camping fees for a campsite holding up to ten (10) persons will be thirty-two (32) dollars for a three day campground and fifty-two (52) dollars for a five day campground.

~$10 a night for up to 10 people sounds like a good deal to me, even if the campsites are full of ice/meth heads based on the responses I got when I asked about camping in Hawaii in a previous deal thread.

    • Needs to be said under every flight deal to Hawaii

    • Yes and don't forget those resort fees. Even crappy air bnbs charge them.

    • Agreed, I'm cruising out of there and decided to fly in the day of at 530am. The US is nothing special.

I just returned yesterday and things are pricier than before plus our dollar is very low, still managed to find great deals for the 4th of July at Waikele Premium Outlets, came back with an extra suitcase :)

do many singles go to honulu ? is it a good place for singles to mix?

Just be prepared for an expensive bill for accommodation. However there are reasonable hotels you can find on the cheap like the Vibe Hotel amongst others.

      • -7

stuff that..better just roadtrip around austrya

      • +2

I didn't find Honolulu too expensive.
Agreed. Vibe is one of the best value hotels there.

      • +5

I can only see a "vive" hotel? is that the one.. and yikes, $300 a night is considered cheap?.. I've been too spoilt in Thailand haha.

        • +3

Apologies, yes the Vive Hotel Waikiki

    • +3

My observation is that bars in the USA are way more social and open to meeting ppl than pubs here in Australia (which is typically families, mates or locals). And Hawaii in my experience is no exception.
I can recommend the bar at Sands Villa Hotel Waikiki (a good mix of locals, tourists, japanese youngsters and the odd servicemen).

I don’t know about picking up, though, sorry.

    • +1

My advice is head straight out of town to the north coast

Any deals from Sydney coming up? Asking for a friend.

    Awesome price.

To put it into perspective a flight from where I am, Coffs Harbour NSW, to Sydney is an hour long flight and costs up to $287 - one way!

    • Tiger $40 flights from cfs to Syd

Then get a Hawaiian Airlines flight out of Honolulu for around $200 AUD return.

Go to Kona, Hilo or Lanai accommodation is much cheaper, it's a better vibe and less commercialized.

Honolulu is basically Surfers Paradise… full of tourists, beaches are crowded, streets are packed and everything is overpriced accordingly.

The money you'll spend on internal flights you'll save in accom and have a more traditional Hawaiian experience.

    • +2

Great point. Added to that Southwest have just started flying inter-island so with Hawaiian finally having some competition these flights will come down in price. I notice Southwest are about 150AUD return which is good value!

Go Downtown and be propositioned by drug peddlers, street hookers and dodge piles of human feces and unstable homeless. Marvelous place!

Saw this in Melbourne today too.

      • +1

        Where abouts? For… research…

  • ^Weekend Fare Frenzy ends 11.59pm AEST Monday 8 July 2019, unless sold out prior. Other conditions apply, see below.

Don’t book via the third party sites guys especially with Jetstar, as they will beat the 3rd party sites by a further 10%.

    • +1

Jetstar are very sneaky with their price beat - you’ll have to find a third party that lists the individual fare price - not the return trip cost! Found this out when trying to price beat a Bali flight!

  • Hi I booked with Jetstar and paid the full amount a few months back through QFF points from another deal ( Sydney to Honolulu) and got a confirmation email from Jetstar - I just logged in today and they are asking me to pay another $367 to confirm the booking. I called Jetstar and I think it went to an overseas call centre and they asked me to ignore the website pricing. Anyone else faced this ?

    • $367, was that an email stating you could get an upgrade if you pay extra?
