See Crucial P1 deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/467315
dang that's a good deal, might have to snag a 960gb one
Edit: ended up getting one, will probably sell my 2x 480gb versions I already had as I'm running out (actually I have already run out) of sata ports, so this will at least save me one :DHow much an used 480ssd can sell?
Well based on this search: https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_dcat=175669&_fsrp=1&_nkw…
I should hopefully be able to recouperate most if not all of the cost
Edit: but either way I'm happy to lose a bit of money to go from 2 to 1 ssd
Probably $40-50
Will only sell to what someone will pay for it
Did the order confirmation say "thank you, come again"?
You can buy 4TB SSDs (3d nand) for $US367 too. (macsales.com).
Over the 4th July holiday they dropped them down to $320ish.
Would have bought two to put in a RAID 1 - if only I had money.
wtf now ssd is dirt cheap…
They are very different even though they are all SSDs. Just like F1 racing cars and Yaris.
also depends on usage as well. Yaris probably good enough for grocery runs. F1 racing cars would be overkill
Ok for backup drive?
also u can't actually do grocery shopping with f1 racing car lol
@Tyler Kwok: Just get the Dog to take the F1 to do the shopping https://youtu.be/mRfSM-lv55I?t=103
@bdl: But in SSD world i am sure most of us are using F1, for groceries 😛😛
@chutibuti: Depends if you got a Samsung Pro M.2 drive (F1) or a Crucial BX drive (BMW M series). Yaris would be a traditional HDD.
@Agret: floopy disk would be horse cart.
@Tyler Kwok: I put a tow bar on mine, and that solved all of the issues.
Oh don't worry. The recent power outage at a Toshiba&WD NAND factory wiped out 6 exabytes from the market and Micron apparently decided to reduce volume production by 10%. On the top of that, the Japanese government restricted export of materials for semiconductor to Korea, which would further bring down the world's NAND supply.
Enjoy while you can.
How does the BX500 series fair in comparison (real life performance) against something like the 860 QVO?
In my experience for a very noticeable difference between SSDs, I had to compare new drives to much older tech e.g. a Samsung PM800.
Real life performance will be essentially the same, unless you're relying heavily on write/read speeds for tasks where performance matters.
yeah, you're looking at less than 1 second difference for windows boot and launching apps.
How does the 960gb of this drive compare speed-wise to the samsung QVO and Evo 860?
Cheers. Decent as a secondary drive but you’d probably want the 4k and random speed boosts from the EVO for a boot drive
Is there a way to use this as an external USB 3.0 drive?
Yeah you should be able to just chuck it in any 2.5" hard drive 'enclosure', they can be had relatively cheap.
Thanks! I'll look into that. Would be nice to expand my Xbox storage :P
Can get the much better MX500 1Tb for $143 from computer alliance ebay, using coupon PRETZEL, just use a new account for ebay plus trial for free shipping and bobs your uncle.
Might want to check your facts mate.
Sorry, what?
i saw samsung QVO 1tb $145 on shoppingexpress last ebay deal, if it available again maybe better value after samsung cashback
Samsung CB ended June 30th.
Extended till 31st July!

BX500 is inferior to the MX500 range, in every way:
https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Crucial-MX500-250GB-vs…
(The biggest thing the BX500 does not have is "Power Loss Protection". Lose power often? Your SSD data could get corrupted…)
That being said, $59 for a BX500 480GB SSD is still nothing to sneeze at.
That being said, the same seller on ebay has the same 20% off coupon for the MX500 drives https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/232727507362 (Free shipping on the MX500s…)Does Samsung QVO have power loss protection? Sorry couldn’t get this info by searching.
I can't find information about that actually… The specs pages for the QVOs don't say they have PLP, and I'd think having a feature like that is something worth listing…
20%off but then $15 postage!
Delivery (Free with eBay Plus)
If you don't have plus you can make a he eBay account and activate the plus trial on it to buy without postage fee
MX500 has free shipping without Plus and it's a way better drive than the BX500 if you don't mind spending a tiny bit more
Any M.2 deals?
