Good price, but still can't shake the feeling I'd be better off air frying some Coles chips and stripping a hot chook at home

  • Can you use this deal with the $5 loyalty voucher?

Believe me. They are not having trouble selling no sugar coke. That, I can tell you.

    • & you know this because? if that is the case i think its probably mostly because they got rid of Coke Zero so consumers are left with no other choice, except Pepsi Max which is a completely different taste

    not enough chicken.
    not enough gravy..

Chicken Treats' $5 deal is better in value.

  • Is this all day or just until 4pm?

    • if you look on the link the T&C says nothing about before 4pm….

What's wrong with Coke No Sugar? Not as good as Zero but it's a great drink.

Now it back to normal price and including drink after they jacked it up to $5.95

    • +2

Yep, paid $5.95 even though the big sign outside was $5

      • did you buy the 250ml coke no sugar?

Would avoid this - had it once & it was underwhelming

    • I get the feeling this would be a salt laden heart attack. Way too many carbs/chips, with a smattering of highly salted dry chicken with some artificial tasting gravy just to take the dryness out. Would I be close? Then after ingestion it'd be five minutes of heartburn while my body tries to cope.

Sounds like a pseudo-HSP, especially the post-eating experience

you could get KFC instead then, that would be so much healthier ;D

        • -1

          So that's acceptable to you?

          • -1

@kronicmacstigator: serious answer, RR chicken would have less fat content than KFc for sure, not sure about chips, gravy etc. Both would have unhealthily high levels in their food. But the real question is, why are you even reading about take away food bargains if they are unacceptable to you?

            • -1

@iluvpizza: They are acceptable to me, I indulge a fair bit… but wasn't ISN'T acceptable is heartburn from insanely high sodium levels

  • +1

i find the gravy at red rooster to be very bland

  • I really dont know what is their USP. Their chicken tastes awful, compared to Nando's, Oporto, or even KFC.

Does Red Rooster say that their chicken is completely oil-free?

    • RR are franchises like all those, so i guess it varies from shop to shop. Personally i've never found them oily & they're better than the supermarket chickens….
